Where is the best DVC resort to stay at during NYE? We're planning on going from the 27th of Dec. through the 2nd of Jan. with 3 kids (1, 6, 11) and 4 adults.

I would assume if you are the party type, SSR due to it being so close to DTD.

A resort close to MK would also be great. They always have a very very special fireworks display at 12

SSR has views of fireworks and quick access to Downtown Disney and BWV has activity on the BW plus quick access to Epcot with no commute. If you really want NYE you had best call soon. I know that some room categories at some resorts are already completely booked for the days you want. Hopefully your home resort is not one of them.

We're going to invite them for this NYE trip next weekend. I'm thinking of maybe just reserving 2 studios at our home resort this week to play it safe. So here's the question:

We have enough 2008 points to reserve these without having to borrow. If I reserve them now and cancel them, let's say in a month, will I get penalized?

Just to let you know, many people who have the 11 month window for NYE have made reservations already. I called for 12/28/08-1/02/09 last week at exactly 11 month from check-out for OKW. I had no problem getting what we wanted, but realize that others have called day-by-day for their reservations that include NYE. That being said, we have stayed at OKW and BCV for NYE. BCV is very convenient if you are doing Epcot or Disney Studios for NYE and you can even see the Illuminations fireworks from the beach at BCV(the high stuff). I have stayed at BWV once and will not return there for many reasons, but it has the same advantage of BCV for its location and they also do have some NYE activities at Boardwalk area.

Yeah, just called about 10 minutes ago to play it safe and make a reservation for then and I'm already waitlisted!!!! I'm not too happy about this.

OK, for those of you who've been waitlisted before, what type of chance do I have of getting in? We went for a 2-bedroom.

UGH!!!!

If our waitlist for a grand villa for the 30th at OKW comes through there will be a room at the BCV free. :) I would say this far out you would get something but the 31st will be the hardest. I would waitlist to take each day as it comes available and then see where you are and reevaluate at the 7 month window. Good luck.

ooohh, that'd be sweet. Good luck with that grand villa, how fun to go with a big group! We're wanting to take our SIL and BIL and their two girls with our baby girl. Too fun! Hence why I am sad about the waitlist.

You can see the MK fireworks on the 30th as well. We did that this year. We stayed at AKV over new years. I booked my parents at BCV thinking we could walk over there and just catch a cab after we hung out a while. Well 1 1/2 hours later we finally got a cab. We are staying at SSR this year just because the parks were WAY to crowded for us. Just to many people. So we did DTD alot anyways. I would say BWV or BCV or SSR. But If I were you better book pretty quick here if you want BCV.
