Looking for some help, its been a couple of years since we last visited. The last time we went in 2005, we concentrated our dining around characters breakfast and dinners. Kids are little older now, ages 9, 7 and 5, so I wonder what might be the best dining experience for kids in this age group - minus the characters. I already know we'll visit Chef Mickeys - our favorite!

Let me know any recommendations, we're staying on the grounds so any eats in the either the parks and hotels.

My 5 year old DD thought that looking for the fish in the aquariam at Coral Reef was lots of fun and it was my favorite meal last year.

My kid's enjoyed the interactive type settings of both 50's Primetime and Whispering Canyon Cafe. We are going to try Coral Reef this year for the first time.

Happy planning!!

Ohana is also a fun one for the kids. My girls didn't care for the standard food served there and were asked to simply tell the CM what they wanted to eat...:) DD7 had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and DD9 had chicken tenders.

I would suggest the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom, the Hoop Dee Doo Review at Fort Wilderness, and The Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge.

The food may not be that good, but the atmosphere cannot be beat at Sci-Fi. I cannot wait to take my son there for his first time this December.

Thanks for the great suggestions, can anyone provide a little more information on the Hoop Dee Doo Review. Is this the cookout? Sing along?

The Hoop Dee Doo Review is a dinner show that takes place in Pioneer Hall over at Ft. Wilderness. Showtimes are 5:00 p.m., 7:15 p.m, and 9:30.

It is slapstick, old west/gold rush time era humor. Lots of singing, dancing, corny jokes, audience participation, etc. It is "silly" fun and older kids generally LOVE it.

The food is served in buckets and consists of fried chicken, bbq ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, salad, bread with honey butter, sodas, beer, sangria, and strawberry shortcake.

It is a bit pricey but is good fun. The food is mediocre but it's really more about the show.

We personally find the 5:00 p.m. show to be a wonderful break during our day at the Magic Kingdom and always plan it for our Magic Kingdom day. Around 4:15 you can leave the park and hop a boat over from the MK to Ft. Wilderness. The show goes from about 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. and then you can boat back over to the MK for an evening of park touring.

I think that eating at SCI-FI cafe would be great for you and your family!
You sit in old fashion cars drink milkshakes and malts, and you watch old fashion movies. The resteraunt is made to look like a drive in move theater!
The atmosphere is very cool and the waiters and waitresses are really nice!!
You should definetly go to SCI-FI, it's in MGM!!! Hope you go there!!! Oh and one word of advise, GET RESERVATIONS!!! That place is always packed during the afternoon, so it's best to get reservations!!! Have fun in WDW!!!

Whispering Canyon, Sci Fi, Ohana's, 50's Prime Time, Biergarten. Probably all been mentioned but I'll add the vote.

The Sci-Fi sounds good as well. I better get my ducks in a row, it sounds like these places fill up early.
