Hi I'm new to posting on the boards but have been reading for a while now!

I was hoping to get some advice on the Nassau Shore Excursions. I have Passporter's field Guide and am looking at either Blue Lagoon Beach Day or Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling. Neither website provided in the Guide are working. If anyone has personal sites with pictures, I'd love to take a look.

Basically, which would be best for spending time in the water? (Looking for clear blue water, fun in the sun)

Thanks!!

We took the catamaran sail- I too was hoping for lots of sun and water. It was nice....you take a 20 minute ride out to the middle of the water, snorkel, and come back. Next time, I think I'd do the Blue Lagoon day. Our Castaway Cay day was cancelled because of bad weather and I so regret not being on a beach.

We have done both of these and had a great time at both.

On our first cruise, we did the Blue Lagoon Day. You walk to the boat (about 10 min.) and then take about a 45 min. ride. There is an inlet with shallow swimming. We also had our first experience with snorkeling in another area. You walk into the snorkeling area. It is pretty rocky and can be hard to walk out in flippers. This is why I was glad to bring my watershoes. Dh spent most of the time here and really enjoyed it. Ds (11 at the time) was a little cautious, hewent out and then played at the small beach area where you walk in. There are lots of little creatures to watch just sitting there.

There are hammocks and lunch is provided. The lunch was a typical picnic spread. It was ok, nothing special.

We were given the option of going back at 2:00 or 4:00. We were pretty wiped out by 2, so we went back.

The boat seemed pretty crowded, but I hardly remember seeing anyone at the beaches. I'm sure there were other places where others went.

We got back around 3.

We also enjoyed the catamaran sail this past year. There is not a beach that you visit with this excursion. The snorkeling was wonderful. We got back around 1. This was nice because on the shorter cruises, it gives you more time on board or to visit in Nassau. I always recommend going in just to take a look around and experience the culture.

Have fun!
