Best Nassau dolphin experience

when we were in Nassau last time, we did the blue lagoon dolphin swim and really loved it!
We thought it was very well done (and we've done many others before that we thought weren't nearly as good).
we had two people in our group who didn't know how to swim, but were able to do it because of the life jacket everyone wears - but you are in deep water.
The same company also has a dolphin encounter that doesn't include swimming.
I'll see if i can find links for you.

We've been to nassau many times. This was the only time we thoroughly enjoyed getting off the ship.
well run, well done. Worth the money.

i found these youtubes of the dolphin swim at blue lagoon....(further down in my next post there are youtubes of the non-swimming encounter)...
These videos give you a pretty good idea of what happens....

we had about 9 people in our group (the 4 in my family, a family of 3 with a little girl, and a couple)...
all 9 of us had a wonderful time....
the dolphins were really good and as i said, we've had a lot of encounters with dolphins over the years, but we were very impressed with this place!!...

DH and I have done the Atlantis shallow water dolphin encounter while on an Atlantis trip. We both enjoyed it so much, that when we cruise to the Bahamas in December, we will be taking both DDs, ages 5 & 9. Although, the Blue Lagoon looks great, too. I don't think you could go wrong either way.

We have done Blue Lagoon as well (the swim, not the encounter) and thought it was fun. The trainers are fun and the picture staff was very friendly. The main gal there was extremely helpful and nice. We did the early morning swim and wanted to take the 1st ferry back (they run back and forth, you can stay for their beach and water toys if you want) so she hurried our pictures along so we could get going back to the ship (We wanted to try out the new margaritaville for lunch) I would recommend them.
Have fun!

one thing to keep in mind about blue lagoon - you take about a twenty minute boat ride to get over to where it is...(an island i guess)...
so if it will be a problem for you watching 3 little kids on a boat, you might want to take that into consideration...
but again, we thought it was a very well run operation...
and the dolphins were lovely....

i love telling one story in particular...
i have a titanium elbow (result of an accident - had to have my elbow replaced with a titanium elbow - similar to a hip replacement, but an elbow)..
you can't see it....
if you looked at me, you'd never know....it looks like a normal elbow (under the skin etc)..

at the end of the dolphin swim, you do the dolphin push....
two dolphins push you from behind (the bottom of your feet)....through the lagoon (you'll see it at the end of those swim videos i posted above)

you end up on the other side of this little area...and you have to swim yourself back to the dock...about the distance of a swimming pool length...

so after my push, i started side stroking back to the dock..
i am very very strong swimmer (former varsity swim team, lifeguard, swim instructor, etc), so i was not in any sort of difficulty....just a leisurely swim back..(with a flotation vest on of course - everyone has to wear one)..

almost immediately, a dolphin swam up to me, placed himself under my titanium elbow arm, pressing himself up against me as if to hold me up and help me back to the dock..
it wasn't threatening...it was as if he was helping me back..
the most extraordinary thing i have even had happen to me with a dolphin..
he escorted me all the way back to the dock..

since then i have spoken with several dolphin experts and they all agree that he could tell about the fake elbow and wanted to help...
that dolphins with their sonar can see when something is different - similar to their interesting behavior around pregnant women...
anyway...it was an amazing thing....what i can only describe as a show of concern and helpfulness on the part of the dolphin.......
