This has probably been asked 1000 times and I have researched all threads but still feel the need to ask.

We are a family of 4. This is our first time staying on property at Disney. We have a 5yr old and soon to be 2 year old. We will be going next October. I am looking at Value and Mod resorts. I have heard pop can be very noisy but that is one we are looking at. I am a light sleeper so I do not do well with noisy rooms. Any suggestions on places that would be good for us?

I've never stayed at POP Century so I'm not sure about noise levels there but I did just get back from a visit to All Star Movies and loved it. I was one the ground floor, not far from the pool and still found it very quiet (with the slight exception of the toilet flushing int he next room). I know that at the All Stars, when you do the online check-in, you can select landscape views, which means in the backs of the buildings away from everything, I'm not sure if the same would apply to POP.

In terms of moderates, with two wee fellas, have you thought about booking a Pirate Room at CBR? They seem really fun but are slightly more expensive. I stayed in one of the Royal Rooms at POR which is its equivalent and my DD5 loved it.

We have heard noise in all Disney hotels at some point. When we stay at POP (or any resort for that matter) we get a room AWAY from the pool and high traffic areas (I think it's 70's? area). Also try to not get a room with a connecting room--that's where we have had the most trouble. I am also a light sleeper & usually sleep great at Disney. Also try to get a top floor room -that way no noise above you.

Have you considered renting through a DVC member? The deluxe villas are nice (and quiet!) and you can generally stay for less than the price of a moderate.

Love POP Century. Didn't think there was that much noise compared to any other resort. Make sure you hit the food courts early before the rush. My favorite Moderate is POR Riverside. Nice main pool and smaller quite pools. Great boat transportation to Disney Springs.

Port Orleans French Quarter, is very small, kind of quiet (from our experience), and has very good bus service. We personally like it because of the size, I like to walk down for my morning coffee every day and even if we are at the furthest room it's not a long walk.

I should mention my husband is Disabled from the military and has some issues with walking a ton

I agree with this. I didnt find Pop any noisier than other value or moderate resorts. Even at moderate resorts i've heard toilets flushing and doors slamming, just like at pop. This is something that cannot be avoided.

We love Pop! Great theme, your kids will absolutely love it. Pop has the best pool side entertainment staff i've seen compared to other resorts. Sure the food court can be crowded during peak times, but that applies to every resort.

One issue to note....value resorts have double beds. Since your kids are small, you will be fine. But it all depends on your preference. :) All moderates have queen beds. (except for pirate rooms at CBR, those particular rooms have doubles, the rest of the resort has queen).

Have stayed at POP a few times and as long as you are away from the pool you should be okay. We just got preferred rooms facing the parking lots.

VALUE:
POP, see below, 16x, with a DS who is disabled and requires quiet. Love POP! Book at standard room overlooking the lake. We've had 7-10 stays where we've never seen nor heard anyone on our floor. Quiet pools virtually empty. All food courts busy at peak times, plan around it. AoA is beautifully done, but if I weren't in the budget for a suite, I wouldn't pay the prices for Little Mermaid. The only perk you get is swimming in their pools. You can still go walk, enjoy the awesome imagineering and eat at the great food court.

MODERATE:
CSR, slightly trailed by POR, plenty of visits at both. CSR is probably the quieter resort because it is more adult but my kids always loved it. They are completely renovated the rooms which I imagine will be done by next fall. That point alone would have me booking it. Food at both is good but different. Transportation at CSR is much better and resort is centrally located to parks. Main pool at CSR is much nicer, much less crowded and a great spot for families because it is so contained with the playground right next to the pool, quick service dining and mug refill station, right there.

In that case, I'd go with POFQ. It's a smaller, quieter resort. Buses are great with covered areas to wait. (Values are not covered waiting areas). Having queen size beds a plus also.

All star movies is our favorite value, but I personally think all the values are a bit noisy. You can hear toilets flushing all night long, if you are a light sleeper, could be a problem. If you want quiet look moderate, we have always heard nothing at all of them, but the best by far was POFQ. It is quiet, small and has the best bussing.

Not to throw a monkey wrench into the business, but have you considered Shades of Green? If your husband is disabled military, you should qualify. I have stayed at most of the Values, and stayed in SOG June 2014 with my in laws, and it was awesome. The rooms are HUGE compared to a Value, and there are 2 queens and a daybed. SOG has transportation to the parks, and is in walking distance to the Poly, so you can also take the monorail/Bus/Boat from there if you choose. I believe there is a SOG thread on Disboards you can check out, or their website. They also have awesome deals on ticket packages. If you don't qualify, and need a Value recommend, I think they are all good, but you can definitely hear noise, such as toilets flushing or babies crying if they are nearby. October would be fairly quiet for any of them, but Music and Movies are probably the least loud. Pop is fun, but large and can be loud. Hope you have a great time!

I second Shades of Green, you can google their name and google military disney tips, both of these sites will give you all the information you need, to see if you qualify, what rate you would get, and lots of info on accommodations, amenities, etc.

We do Qualify for SOG but at our tier it was more $$$ then a Value. We actually opted for a suite at AoA for the space (yes its $$ but my son doesn't do well in small spaces) since we actually do plan to have a down day at the hotel. Now we are also debating a split stay between POP or Caribbean and AoA.
