We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary at WDW.
Thought we would go either the 3rd week of October - Food Festival or 3rd week of May - Flower Festival.
Hoping for sunshine and no rain.
We do not mind parks closing at 9 pm or cooler Florida weather (in the 70's).

So just the two of us in our late 50's.

Which moderate would be best for us ?
Which has no report of bed-bugs?
Which has the best buses?

I'd say Coronado or Port Orleans. CBR is loaded with kids. Port Orleans is also but Coronado is in my opinion the leasts. Great food there too! :)

1) You have great choices for the best for older folks.
. . . POFQ
. . . POFQ
. . . POFQ, or
. . . POFQ
2) The place is our favorite Moderate
. . . old world charm
. . . small (smallest of all non-DVC resorts)
. . . quaint
. . . short walk to bus, pool, food
. . . centrally located hot tub, for those tired legs after park-walking
. . . very little noise from kids or other surroundings
. . . great bakery for that early morning New Orleans beignet
. . . their own buses during rush hours to/from (shared with POR midday)

Ditto! POFQ is also great for the young ones. My children love this resort. I love this resort! I love the boat ride to DTD. I love for the simple fact that we can walk to POR and use their pool if we wanted to. And we did one time!

DH is 78 and I am 62 and we love, love, love POR. We saw mostly adults and it is a very quiet resort. We have stayed value and deluxe and other moderates but choose this one over any others. We introduced another older couple to WDW last year and visited other resorts and they said if they went back they would never stay anywhere else. WE love taking the boat to DTD and just walking the paths.

As stated previously, POFQ is a very quaint and EASILY navigated resort. I loved the resort in my 30's, and I am looking forward to visiting it in my retirement years. The resort is so compact and lovely, and I'm sure it will surpass the expectations of everybody in the travel party.

POFQ or CSR are both great but I found POFQ to be more quaint and more romantic. Also it is a smaller resort so much less walking. I would get a river view room if I were you. We were upgraded and it was just beautiful. When I went last Sept. we brought my parent-in law (an older couple) and they loved, loved, loved POFQ. We had previously book CSR but my mother-in-law can't walk too far because of a skin condition that causes her to blister easily, so we switched to POFQ and we were all glad we did. Plus you have a nice boat ride to DTD and access to its sister resort POR. This resort was perfect!

We are big fans of both POFQ and CBR, but CBR is almost literally crawling with kids :) The pool there is a pirate-themed pool and they offer Nemo and Pirate-themed rooms, so there you go!

POFQ is, hands-down, our favorite moderate resort! As others have mentioned, the theming is superb, the set-up so quaint and charming. Really feels like you are in a little french quarter village, nowhere near the time of Mardi Gras ;)

The boat to DTD cannot be beat! So lovely in the evening and a special treat at the end of a great vacation day.

POFQ -- all the way!

Have fun!

We love POR mansion section. Both Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace are great central locations. The landscaping is beautiful.
I just booked our Jan 2013 trip at FQ to try this out.

One of the things I like about POR is the option of quiet pools. But in January it won't be a big factor.

Agree with POFQ. Small resort, everything in walking distance, boat to DTD, looks extremely romantic. It would be my personal choice (well it is!).

Port Orleans Riverside is also really beautiful and quiet... (as is French Quarter)

I agree with my fellow posters about the French Quarter. We have stayed there twice and love it. You can't go wrong with POR either as they are right together but the FQ is smaller and when we were there the buses went to the FQ before stopping at POR. Happy 30th and have a wonderful trip.

Yet another vote for POFQ!!!! We LOVE it!! So peaceful after a crazy day in the parks. We will be staying there for the 7th time this Fall. :thumbsup2

I suggest.............................

POFQ:thumbsup2

I've stayed there with my parents and they've had a few return trips by themselves and it's their personal favorite.

Only drawback is no sit-down restaurant.

But POR is a quick 10 min walk if you want a sit down restaurant.
