What is the best MGM resturant?? We are going June 24 after 4pm for dinner!(dont know if that makes a difference) :confused3 Any suggestions whould be great!! TIA

Of the places I have tried, I would say The Hollywood Brown Derby is my favorite in MGM.

I've also tried Sci Fi and Mama Melrose's. Never tried H&V since I'm not a buffet fan and PrimeTime doesn't sound like something I would enjoy.

Sci Fi is great, very campy, wonderful experience for us fast approachnig middle age taht actually remember drive in's. Th eburgers are excellent, if that's what you have in mind. Not in th eleast bit formal though!

What is The Hollywood Brown Derby and H&V?? I have never been! :confused3 What is the food like, prices, crowds, location(where inside the park)??

Depends, if you want fun or "nice". Brown Derby for a upscale type restuarnt. For fun, the Prime Time Cafe. It is one of the few must do resturants for us.

For prices and menus:

H&V is Hollywood and Vine, I don't know where it located exactly. The Hollywood Brown Derby is on Hollywood between Sunset and the Animation Courtyard. Their specialities are Grapdefruit Cake and the Cobb Salad....both yummy!

we would all give the '50's primetime cafe' the thumbs up, we ate here for the first time on the last day of our visit last August, and what a wonderful meal, and great atmospher (did I spell that right), our ds's 12 & 8 loved it and can't wait to go back again. It is not somewhere that I would have thought of eating, but post hurrican Charley the restaurants in the parks were very very busy for the first couple of days and this was all we could get a PS at at MGM on that day, I certainly do not regret it and will definatly go again this year.

My favorite is the Hollywood Brown Derby. Oh my gosh, their grapefruit cake is so decadent!!

After that, it's a toss up between Sci-Fi & the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Brown Derby! Excellent food and service. And, you must try the grapefruit cake for dessert.

One of the best restaurants in WDW. I highly recommend it. If you want to see some of the menus from these restaurants try www.allearsnet.com and click on dining. They have fairly up to date menus from most of the restaurants in disney and they organize it by location.

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for excellent food and a nice dining atmosphere, and if cost isn't a huge factor, you'd probably enjoy Hollywood Brown Derby.

If you like buffets, Hollywood & Vine is the place for you. Large selection and a reasonable price.

If you are looking for good Italian, choose Mama Melrose.

If theming is important to you, either Sci Fi Dine In or Prime Time Cafe would be your choice. Our personal favorite MGM restaurant is Sci Fi. You sit in "car" tables and the set-up is a drive in theatre. Clips from old cartoons and cheesy 50's sci fi films play while you eat. The burgers, fries, and shakes at lunch are delicious, but you won't hear many good things about the other food there. We go for the atmosphere and the burgers. Prime Time is set up like a family kitchen in the 1950's. Your servers will pick on you for putting your elbows on the table and for not finishing your veggies. It's a lot of fun, but I personally didn't like the food here.

Hope this helps. Happy planning! :goodvibes

We have eaten at Sci-Fi and didn't care for it. We have eaten at 50's Prime Time, 3 times (twice our last trip). It's alot of fun, the food is good & plentiful. It has become a must for our trips. The fried chicken is really good. Those are the only 2 places we've eaten at MGM.

50's Prime Time is our favorite for lunch but for dinner we do the fantasmic dinner package at hollywood and vine. We like that someone can always find something they want on the buffet and it is the cheapest option for the dinner package. We've been to the Brown Derby but I haven't found anything I liked there.

Mama Melroses
Kind of tucked away and not as noisy as the other locations. Never had a bad meal or server.

I don't know what it is about MGM, but every time we go there I end up with a stomach ailment. Last time we ate at Hollywood and Vine, and the food smelled good, but my stomach was so upset from the ABC Commissary that I really didn't enjoy it as much as I think everyone else did. About the only place I did enjoy our meal was 50's Prime Time. Our next trip I do want to do the Mama Melrose Fantasmic PS thingy.

If you're like me and the food is the #1 priority than the Brown Derby is your best bet.

Great ideas!! I think we may try mama melrose or back to one of our favorites; Sci-fi or 50s prime time!! Now the decision!!
