Just curious what are other peoples strategies for when their group splits up. We won't have cells or walkie-talkies so what's the best way to strategies a meet up time/place for each of the 4 parks?

Gosh, you're talking old school. I forgot that we used to have to do that back before cellphones. I'll suggest places where you can sit inside. Since they are CS restaurants, please don't occupy a table if it's crowded.

MK - Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons in the Land Pavilion
DHS - ABC Commissary
AK - Restaurantosaurus

I would get pay as go cell phones, at least one per group.

Before we got phones we wasted a lot of time missing each other or if there were a change in plans waiting too long.

The Walkie talkies may work but the phones will probably be cheaper.

It kind of depends on what everyone's plan is for when you meet up. If you are meeting to go and eat, then plan to meet at that food location. If you are planning to meet to leave then plan to meet near the exit.

Now, if you are planning to meet up just to have check-ins from time to time, then pick a place that might not be too crowded. Do not plan to meet near the main icons for the parks as these get crowded as people stop to take pictures.

The PP had a good idea for picking places with seats, but some of those are going to be out of the way or busy unless it is outside of the main eating times. Also do not make plans to meet during a parade/fireworks time unless it is at least 30 minutes before or after as it can be hard to get through crowds at that time.

My suggestions:

MK: Liberty Square Market (beside Hall of Presidents and across from Haunted Mansion); it is an open area that would make it easy to find each other, plus it is easy to get to from all areas, except maybe Tomorrowland

Epcot Future World: Pick a side of the fountains, such as the side facing Mousegears or the side facing World Showcase. This area can be crowded, but is centrally located.

Epcot World Showcase: Pick a country and maybe a landmark. Example: Japan at in front of the White Heron Castle, tall fortress structure, on the side facing the shops of Japan.

DHS: Dinosaur Gertie's or Min and Bill's Dockside on either side of Echo Lake

AK: This one is a bit more difficult with how it is spreadout. It might be best to pick outside one of the restaurants near the Tree of Life or to pick a specific attraction.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some prepaid cellphones. They cost about $10 each and will save you a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks for you advice. I'd love to get prepaids but we're Canadians flying down and going direct from the airport to the resort. To begin with I'd have no idea where I could get some or how I would set them up. In Canada we don't have disposable phones and I'm not paying the huge roaming fees to use mine.

We're going to Downtown Disney the first night and I hear there's a convience store near by. Could I get a couple there? We'd only need texting.

I would say cell phones are the way to go, but make sure they are on vibrate cuz it is hard to hear anything. We also have a meet spot and a certain time to be there at mainly just to be safe!

Maybe at the Hess Station across the street from DTD.

You could also order them from Walmart and have them shipped to your resort.

And of course they are not really disposable you can use them for all your trips to WDW.

It's really not as difficult as it may seem. It is as simpe as taking a cab ride to the nearest Wal-Mart and buying the prepaid cell phones there. On a vacation to the beach last year my cell phone was mysteriously left on top of the van during a fuel stop :rolleyes1 and I just stopped and bought a prepaid cell at Wal-Mart for the duration of the trip. They are cheap and work really well.

We would just set a time and place to meet. However my brother in law can always find my sister and I regardless. It has became a joke over the years as we can't even hide from him in MK at all:confused3 other parks once in a while he can't find us:banana:

Me and the DG (disney girlfriend) have always said if we got seperated and if we dont have signal on mobile then to meet at these locations as they are open and easy to find...

MK: Mickey & Walt statue near castle
HS: Chinease Theater
AK: outside yak and yeti counter service
Epoct: outside figment ride

Even without cell phones (which I do recommend) its easy enough to meet up with a group at each park. Just make sure to have a specific time window (10 minutes or so) and a specific location. I think restaurant or landscape locations are better than rides (may be out of service or blocked off).

So pick a time (3PM) and a place (Main Street Bakery) and you'll be fine.

Don't forget about Guest Services in each park. You can leave a message there for someone. Once I was supposed to meet my neice but wasn't sure where. I went to Guest Services and they had a message for me to meet my neice at a certain restaurant at a specified time. Another time I left a message there for my neice to meet me a a specific spot to watch the parade. When she went to retrieve it they said "Oh, she was just here. She is waiting for you at such and such a spot. :thumbsup2 It's a great service.

 Well, shut the front door! (as Steven Tyler would say.);)
These phones are a no-brainer for visitors from out of the U.S.!
Plus, Walmart is right down the road, as a matter of fact, I can think of 2 or more that are close to WDW!

Actually, these little phones look like they would be great to buy for kids going to WDW.
Even the smallest kid could have one with Mom & Dad's cell #'s programmed in them.
