Best makeup primer?

Some of the Monistat reviews state it gave users cystic pimples (those big, painful ones that take a while to go away). Anyone experience this with the Monistat?

I ordered the Smashbox Photo Finish primer yesterday. I'd like to get the Monistat b/c it's MUCH cheaper but NOT if it causes painful pimples.

I occasionally get the deep, painful pimples. But in the past 5 months or so that I have been using it, I haven't had any:woohoo:!!!

The few bad reviews about the cystic acne made me a little hesitate about trying it, but I am so glad I did!

Never had those pimples, and no one that I know IRL that has used it does (that they've admitted to, LOL!).

I've used Smashbox, Bare escentuals and monistat and some other one that was at the beauty supply store, so "professional". Anyway, I cannot tell a difference between Monistat and the others. The price is right too. I think it is the one you should try!!

I have not used primer, but I'm curious. Is it a gel or light lotion?

It's like a gel - not oily, sorta silicony. It's clear, I just spread a thin layer on my face after my moisturizer dries. It's interesting that even after just a layer of primer, my face already looks smoother and more even. :confused3

You just answered another one of my questions. :thumbsup2 I may have to give one a try. :thumbsup2

Do you HAVE to use moisturizer for a primer to set/work right? I don't moisturize b/c I dislike the sticky feeling it leaves on my face.

no, I do not think it is necessary. I don't always use a moisturizer.

I use Lorac AquaPrimer. I goes on very smooth and is for sensitive skin. That is the one on of the consultants at Sephora recommended and then I use Halo powder foundation by Smashbox.

No, you don't have to. I do because my skin has decided to be horribly dry after I hit 30. Before that it was so oily my makeup slid off :confused3

Ok, I began my search and this one came up. It's water based, I like that. Is this one also like a gel? Is it colorless? TIA
