We are a family of four, 10 and 7 year old. We have decided that CSR is going to be our place to be in our August trip.

We have never tried moderate or CSR before, so what is an ideal location. We don't mind walking, but don't want to be too far if that helps.

What is the preferred location? I am frugal and I don't want to spend the extra $10 /night.. so I am looking to the closest to preferred but not preferred if that helps any.

CSR looks fun, and my son loved the idea of the bigger water slide.

Rancho 7b is a good spot. Rancho 6b too. Close to the main pool and bus stops but can get them for the standard rate. Casita 5 is also nice. Cabanas are the preferred location but will most likely cost you the waterview rate. Check out the map on my website below.

As far as walk goes, that is no longer a concern at CSR since they started the new internal shuttle service. Info & Pics on the new service are on my website below

We stayed in Ranchos 7b and really liked it-nice scenery and theming, close to buses and main pool but a hike from the food court-now they have the internal bus so the walking wouldn't be an issue. Last time we stayed in Casitas 4 and this was perfect for us-close to food, buses and we loved this section! We had a great view of the lake!

We just returned there a week ago and enjoyed our stay there. We were in Casitas bldg. 3 and thought it was not bad at all. They have these golf carts that constantly drive around the lake for people to hitch a ride on. We were not far from the first bus stop which was nice. I personally did not like catching the bus at the main stop by El Centro because it seemed to always be more crowded and is usually the last stop. Just look at the map and see what area meets your needs. Since they have transportation around the lake my first perference would be close to a bus stop. Then maybe pool or food depending on which you think you will be going to most. You should enjoy your stay no matter.

We stayed in Casitas 2 and absolutely loved it! A nice, short walk to the El Centro, and really great landscaping. The only downside was that it was a hike to the pool - we usually drove and parked in an area closer to the pool, but with the internal transportation that is now available, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Casitas again.
