We borrowed this years points for a mega trip in the past, so this year we planned to stay in our RV at Fort Wilderness. We made the reservations many months ago and planned a nice 12 night stay June 26-July 8. So today I made the ADRs for the trip, and I became nostalgic for DVC. Our home resorts are BCV and HH. We really like both our home resorts and even bought 3 contracts at BCV - vacationed there since 2002.

So I just waitlisted July 1-8 at the BCV for a 2 bedroom. If it comes through, then our Fort Wilderness trip will be cut to 5 days. SO MUCH FOR PLANNING! Not only that, but we did the same thing several years ago!

We love the BCV - it is such a treat to use the pools, walk to Epcot, and it just feels like our Disney home. I guess it is remote that the wait-list will come through, so I will probably end up in the black again on my points. I guess it will be OK - Fort Wilderness is a nice place too.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at Fort Wilderness! Many many years ago when our kids were young we stayed in the trailers every Easter:cool1: now that our kids are grown and married they have never forgotten staying there.
You just may have the best of two worlds.
Going to your home at BCV. And having a new Disney experience at the campgrounds.:goodvibes

Either way, it sounds like fun! I hope you get the wait list since you want it so bad. If you do, will there be another BCV add on?;)

FW seems to have a feel and culture all it's own. I know people that stay there simply for the feel of it. I bet it'll be a lot of fun on the 4th. If the WL does come through, you may have an issue parking the RV at BCV if it's over 24 ft.

My first trip as a child to the world was in the families good old RV, that trip locked in my love for WDW and why I bought into DVC. My dream is have longer FW/BWV stays, just can't get the DW to see my vision of an RV purchase! Anyway I think a FW/DVC villa mixed stay is as good as it gets.

That is so true.

We are DVC members too & love staying in the villas, but last year during spring break, & before our cruise, we spent 5 wonderful days in a 5th wheel at Fort Wilderness. We didn't go to any of the parks & just explored & drank in the atmosphere at the Fort. I'd recommend staying at the Fort at least once. I'm sure you won't regret it. :thumbsup2

We are planning a trip to FW in October because I kept reading about the decorations and trick or treat there. We are using it to extend our stay a couple nights due to PAP purchase and planning multiple trips this year. We were able to rent a pop up (rv's avail too) for two nights fairly reasonably and they deliver and set it all up for you! If it works out- this may be my new way to get more out of my DVC points - as prev poster said- best of both worlds! Excited to see how it works out! I suppose it's about the same prices as the value resort just a little less hectic feel and great location with boat to MK! Trade off would be the bathhouse I suppose- my only quam ( not when I normally camp but somehow seems more difficult when getting ready to go to the parks, go out to eat, etc). I do love camping in general though so we'll see if the city or country girl wins out at the Fort!

Our first stays were all at FW, first in the old cabins, then tents, then we upgraded to a pop-up, then back to tent, then once more in the new cabins. My daughter's fav resort still is FW! :rotfl2: I wouldn't mind staying there again at all. We have a 34' Terry in NH at Calumet in W Ossipee where we are seasonal campers for the summer and I often wish there were a way to magically transport it to the Fort for F & W.

Enjoy whatever works out and :tink: brings!

Thanks for all the positive thoughts regarding Fort Wilderness and BCV. We use our camper a fair amount, and it has a "we're home dear" feel to it too. I was cool with it until thinking about how we would walk to Epcot in the evening for dinner and fun when staying at the BCV. Guess I should just get over it! However, how great would it be to have a mixed trip - FW and BCV.

PS - I really love this forum and the great spin you guys put on life!
