Best Jan 2017 trip dates?

Thinking about doing a short trip in Jan. before my AP runs out in Feb. Any dates that I should try to avoid except for MLK weekend? Have never stayed in Jan. before so not sure about crowds and the weather.

Avoid the entire first week. It includes the marathon, and many schools aren't going back that first week.

Jan is one of my favourite times to visit WDW. I don't really have an answer for you, unfortunately, but I just wanted to say that it seems to be a generally great time to go - at least IMO. Crowds are not as low as they used to be, but it is still not as excessively busy like some other times.

Temperatures are variable in Jan, you need to be prepared for warm to cold weather and anything in between. Layers are good at this time of year. The pools are heated, but the air can be chilly. I go swimming in Jan, but I like it cold (from Canada), so whether it is warm or cooler, I am fine. For most people, Jan is hit or miss for swimming. Usually great weather for touring theme parks, though!
