Best "In-Character" Stories

On our last trip this January my youngest son drew pictures of characters in his autograph book for the characters to sign next to. When we saw Gaston he asked my son where his picture was in the book and since there was not one he demanded my son draw it on the spot while he posed. It was hilarious!

That is hilarious!! Your poor son, lol!!

I almost forgot! The first time I went to Animal Kingdom, I wore some green and white shorts with a palm tree print. While waiting for the gates to officially open, Wes Palm was scooting all around me, very interested in my shorts! It was hilarious!

I've been lucky and had MANY great character interactions. These are just some I can think of off the top of my head:

-When Pocahontas first came out, I was SO excited to meet her, like beyond words excited (I was...maybe three, almost four). I finally got my chance in MK. She was with John Smith and when I got up to them...I would not get out of my stroller because I was terrified of John Smith (when he's only so big on your TV and then you meet him and he's so tall...). Pocahontas told him to stay on their little platform stage and she came down to me. She tried to convince me he was alright and I could talk to him too but I refused so she stayed, kneeling by my stroller, and talked to me. She gave me a kiss on the cheek before I left and I refused to wash my face for the rest of the day (and actually cried when my mom finally had to before bed).

-We took the Family Magic Tour when I was little and got to meet Peter Pan at the end. Our tour guide Marian and Peter decided each kid should pair up with their brother or sister or ride Peter Pan's Flight. Well, as luck would have it, I was the only only child on the tour. Peter then decided he would ride with me, took my hand and skipped with me all the way to the ride. We road together then he waited with me until my family got off. Apparently, I came off the ride with TONS of stories about Neverland that he told me but I can't remember any of them now.

-I always like to give myself a little goal or dream to accomplish while down there. After I found out that Flynn Rider was going to be at MNSSHP right after he was made a seasonal character, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to meet him, be smouldered and get a hug from him. Well, I had my birthday button on and as soon as he saw me, he and Rapunzel both asked if I had a wish for my birthday. I told Flynn he could help me and he was all for it. I was smouldered (I started giggling and couldn't stop smiling while Rapunzel was like "...Everyone has that reaction. I don't get it.") and he gave me a huge hug. I got to get my wish twice and it was awesome. Flynn became one of my favorite characters because of that, simple yet awesome.

-Last January, my mom and I were in the World for my Christmas present. We ran into many characters in The American Adventure including Goofy, a Penguin from Mary Poppins and Tigger. Max (Goofy's son) was also with them and when it was our turn with him, he asked (through the CM) if I had a boyfriend. I told him no and he decided he was my boyfriend.

-Also that trip, I got meet Cinderella's step-mother and step-sisters for the first time. I had these cute fingerless gloves on with sequined Mickey heads on the backs that I bought on Main Street and all three wanted to know where I bought them because they were so cute. Also, the step-sisters told their mother they wanted my Christmas present next Christmas.

-Last October, we met Ariel in her Grotto and she saw my "Acrobat" necklace (it's for Matilda the Musical. Bought it at the Broadway Flea Market last September, made by the kid stars of the show. The Acrobat and the Escape Artist (formerly called the Escapologist) are a little subplot in the show). She had me tell her the story of "my friend, the Acrobat and husband, the Escape Artist". Later in the trip, we finally went to see Merida. ...Let's just say she knew my necklace then remembered where she knew it from. She then told me her friend Princess Ariel told her the story of the Acrobat while having tea earlier in the week and she was very pleased to meet the Acrobat's friend.

-Last year, my little wish was just to hug Jack Skellington after I found out he was going to be at the Halloween Party. I thought I was going to have to ask for a hug or something but as soon as he saw me, he opened his arms to me and wished me a "Happy Death Day!" I also got a "Happy Death Day!" and hug from Sally too. That was when I was Eponine Thenardier from Les Miserables for the first party I attended. At the second one, I was a vampire princess (it was supposed to be a character named Sarah from German musical but I felt more like a character from one of my favorite books, who's a vampire princess so, it all worked out) so I did a little line of lipstick down from my lip to show that (since I didn't have/want fangs, since Sarah doesn't get her fangs until two songs later in the show). Jack noticed it instantly, since I'm so pale it stood out, and told Sally that "a vampire princess had come to visit!". He asked me who I was dressed as and, when I told him a character from a show called Dance of the Vampires, he asked if it was difficult to teach the vampires in my kingdom to dance (still love that) Then, we crossed arms like corpses for their "Dead Pose".

-Also when I was dressed as Eponine, I totally felt like I wasn't dressed fancy enough to meet the Princesses and their Princes but I went anyway. We got to Rapunzel and Flynn Rider (who I've ALWAYS loved meeting) and I asked him what was in his satchel (if you didn't know, if you ask, he will show you...it's Rapunzel's tiara, of course!). He pulled out the tiara then held out my wrist and put it on my wrist like a bracelet, then held it up to my ear, like a huge earring. Then he went "Ah, it goes here!" And put the tiara (Still holding it) on my head just above the turned up brim of my Eponine hat. No one knew he was going to do that, especially not me, and it was the most magical moment of my life (so far) :cloud9:

From WDW:

Princess and the Frog is one of my favorite movies.

I lost a lot of weight in the past two years, and Naveen was one of the two princes I hadn't seen since then and I really badly wanted a new picture. So I was beyond excited when I saw he was meeting with Tiana in the evenings.

On my first MK day it was raining on and off and it looked like they may not be coming out in the evening. That made me really anxious. I had also done a custom "real girls love frogs" shirt with that saying and a picture of frog Naveen on the front and "surreal girls prefer alligators" with a picture of Louis on the back.

Thankfully they did come out after all after a delay.

I draw and because I wanted them to sign something really special drawing of the final “wedding scene” where Naveen introduces Tiana to his parents. It took me days, but I managed to get it just right.

I got it so “just right” that Tiana was convinced I was an animator who has worked on their movie. :cloud9: It wasn't quite easy to convince her that I was not, especially because meanwhile Naveen had caught onto the shirt. He kept going on where I bought it and just wouldn't believe that I had come up with the design. He even insisted on a solo photo with me.

The CM with them realized there was something on the backside of the shirt too and makde me show it. Tiana started laughing and asked: “Who do you prefer?” Well you got to the Frog first, unless you’re up to sharing… ;) But no, I was nice and told her I was happy with keeping the alligator. :rotfl:

After they finally believed that I am from Germany and don't work for Disney both started asking me about German phrases, differences between “good morning” and “good night” and stuff like that.

Finally Naveen asked: “How do you say most handsome, charming (insert list of compliments as long as my arm) prince in German?” I smiled sweetly and told him: “That’s easy, that’s the same word in any language. It is Naveen.” Everyone in earshot burst out laughing. Tiana giggled and started yelling: “She got you! She got you really good!”

Not that I had any intention to get him... I mean, what's a girl to say? ;)

From DLR:

1) I've been going to DLR for Halloween for a couple of years in a row with a good friend of mine. Halloween is nowhere as big in Germany as it is in the US. One year we decided to be different and came to check out the Christmas season, so came later than normal.

I really like Tink too, so we were quite frequent visitors at Pixie Hollow there. The first time we were in line at the Christmas trip she spotted me and went: "Oh there you are. I was so worried that something may have happened to you on the way from Germany when you were not around for Halloween. You need a lot of Pixie Dust for that flight."

2) Rapunzel and Flynn, back from when Rapunzel was meeting at the Tower. We had tried a really long time to catch Flynn, but were never lucky. Finally he was there. I asked my friend (in German, and I really thought I was whispering) if she thought Rapunzel would mind if I asked her to step aside and have a picture only with Flynn.

So it was our turn and before I could say anything Flynn turned to Rapunzel and told her: "Move over blondie, this young lady came all the way from Germany to take a picture with me." I don't know what look I had on my face, but it must have been priceless because my friend (she's normally very shy) burst out laughing.

To the day I have no idea how he caught onto that.

I had him sign a drawing too and he kept holding it to the different walls and looking for the best spot saying it was so much better than Rapunzel's artwork. All poor Rapunzel could do was stand in a corner and be mad at him.

From Paris:

Years ago they had a stage in the Hub in front of the castle which was on occasion used for shows. One of these shows was for the New Generation Festival. If you were lucky afterwards the characters would come down and sign if you were standing in the right area.

I was really, really badly trying to get a drawing signed of Remy and Emile from Ratatouille. I caught Remy "backstage" at a parade, but not Emile.

On the third show at the stage I was finally lucky and was at the right area to try and get them to sign after the show. Who came out first? Tiana and Naveen. They signed their drawings and then spotted the rats' drawings. They were both "oh my god, that's so cute!" So Tiana ran off to grab... Remy. She pulled him back to me, shows him the drawing and I have to go "umm... thank you but Remy already signed, I need Emile." So Naveen ran off and got me Emile while Remy was making a show out of telling off Tiana for not recognizing him.

I was on the Dream 2013 right after New Year's and was visiting Stitch and I had a book in my hand and he kept pointing to it, next thing I know Stitch is running off with my book

When Stitch was still in Animal Kingdom when i was waiting in line for a picture with him there was a probably about 8 year old boy before me with his little sister about 2 or so in a stroller. Stitch hugs the kid who whispers something in his ear and stitch nodes then goes to walk off with the stroller. It was hilarious cause the kid had the biggest grin on his face.

Another time he walked into the store near by took something and went to walk out and the person with him told him no and slapped his hand and he put it back all sad.

Its great when they really get into the character.

I have a couple favorite that come to mind off hand.

Tiana and Naveen have been my favorite - I love their interaction together, especially when DD asked how they liked being frogs. Tiana went on and on about the it being gooey and messy while Naveen kept talking how much fun it was and he would do it again.

The other two that come to mind were with Rosetta one time and then with Vidia.
With Rosetta DD was dressed as Vidia for MNSSHP and Rosetta kept going on and on about fast flying fairies and being worried about her hair.
With Vidia, DD told her about dressing up as her in the past so Vidia challenged her to a race, which was hilarious watching

my best memory is everyone's stereotypical one. My 7 yr old DD was at the height of wanting to meet characters the first time we went to Disney. she didn't care about Princesses, she just wanted Mickey and Minnie. We waited for an hour to see Minnie and when Claire caught sight of her, she ran into her arms and Minnie hugged her for a really long time. Claire still believed that was the real Minnie and it was so heartwarming.

Honestly I'm really hoping to make some fun memories with some characters I'm usually shy and not very open kinda starstruck lol.

upcoming trip I'm doing firework voyage so I'm hoping some good times/memories will be made with peter lol

We were there last summer and took my daughter and her best friend who is like a daughter to us both for their 15th Birthday and Peter Pan was so very rude to the girls both and would pose for a picture with them or anything and he even told my daughter to grow up?

I don't ever remember Peter Pan being this way on our past visits and even Tinkerbell told him Peter you silly boy be nice to these girls!

im so sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with him, however i have to say i notice that peter is usually nicer to lost boys than girls its just the way his character is to him girls are strange and his lost boys are where the games and adventures are. sometimes Peter may take it too far but i hate to hear that it wasn't a dream visit with him

thats why they usually try to pair Tink or Wendy with him to keep him in check and to appeal to the girls
