Best "In-Character" Stories

We met Pocahantas this past June. On that day we were wearing matching Disney themed outfits. Pocahantas asked DD9 if everyone in our village wore the same clothing. DD9 said, "No. This is my mom's idea. What can I say?" :rotfl:

DD9 was wearing sparkling sequined ears in MK. When it was her turn at Pixie Hollow, Fawn told DD9 she could tell we had already been to see Terrance because of all the pixie dust on her ears. DD9 told her "No. I haven't visited Terrance today. My mom is a Fairy too. She's responsible for my pixie dust."

At AKL people were waiting in line for Lilo to return from her hula lessons. While we waited, Stitch was getting a bit ansy and started messing some kids' hair. I told him that his badness level was going up and up by the minute. He then put his hands under his chin and acted quite coy. DD9 said, "Yeah, he pretends to be an angel at times." Lilo showed up at that very moment. She nodded in agreement.

On DCL we told Snow White that it wasn't true what they say, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." She told us she doesn't eat any type of red apples anymore. She only eats the green ones now.

One of the best character interactions I've witnessed was at another table in Akershus. There was a little boy about 5 years old very embarassed by being in the presence of Princess Jasmine. He slid under the table to hide - Jasmine crawled under there with him. It was so cute to see her sitting under the table with him!

On my DD's 1st visit to EPCOT we surprised her with a Princess lunch. As we approached Belle for the picture at the entrance, DD became very shy. She slid behind the curtain to hide - Belle then said "Oh, the little princess wants to play hide-and-seek? Very well." Belle covers her eyes with her gloved hands as she begins to count...1...2...3. The giggles from behind the curtain were precious!

So many great character moments but those are two of my favorites.

I have had two wonderful experiences with Tigger although they were 10 years apart!:rotfl2:
My DH and I went to WDW in 99 before we had children(I was pregnant with DD 11, but didn't know it at the time!) While we were at Epcot we ran into Tigger and had someone take a picture of us with him. Just as the picture was taken Tigger popped the top of my visor up and it was captured in the picture!
The second experience with Tigger was in 08 at The Crystal Palace during their character breakfast. DD and I both were wearing the same Pooh shirt and when Tigger came to the table he pointed at both of us and them fell to the floor and had a tantrum!!! We were able to calm him down by showing him my DS had a picture of him on his shirt!

I took my DNiece4 last month. Of course she is in love with the princesses.princess: Her current favorite is Ariel and had chosen the fin dress at BBB. When she met Ariel and Eric she asked Eric where Ariel's fin was. He told DNiece that Ariel would have it on when she went swimming later that day.
On our 1st day at WDW DNiece had fallen on her face and had a split and swollen lip. The next day she was telling Belle that she couldn't smile because her lip hurt. I have the sweetest picture of Bell touching DNiece's cheek in comfort. Belle must have had some magic in that touch because DNiece was much happier after that and stopped complaining about her lip hurting!

This past July we were Family of the Day, and we had some of our best character moments.

Pluto got me to scratch his nose before we got on the train. He came back to me two more times and pointed at his nose. After we got on the train in ToonTown (to start the show), Pluto was in the car ahead of us. He stood up, turned around, and pointed at his nose. I knocked on the glass in the front of our car and shrugged my shoulders.

Snow White saw a squirrel and said "Hello". It actually started coming towards the train station. Naveen and Tiana were also on the train, and were saying "How are you able to do that?"

Tiana was also harassing Naveen for his inability to cook, and Naveen was harassing Tiana about her inability to dance. They were very funny.

Naveen asked us which side of PA we were from, and we said the "Cheesesteak side". Mickey got excited and gestured that he wanted a Cheesesteak.

Up until this point, we didn't really like the Princesses (due to a weird experience at Akershus), but we really, really liked Tiana, Naveen, and Snow White.

Dale was dancing in his seat and fell over into Chip's seat.

Later that day, we saw Snow White behind the castle and she said Hi.

We saw Mickey on his float during the Main Street Electrical Parade. He saw us, pointed, laughed, and freaked out.

I love hearing all these stories - meeting the characters is so much fun. :goodvibes

Here's a few of my favourites:

Ariel asked DD where we were from and looked shocked when DD said "Scotland". Then she said that we all must be very tired after swimming all that way to see her.

Pinocchio "proposing" to DD last year after she'd been to BBB. :lovestruc

At dinner one evening at Garden Grill in Epcot, Chip & Dale spent a few minutes polishing my DDad's bald head. Then one of them planted a kiss on his head complete with loud and exaggerated smoochy sounds! :rotfl2:

Not so much "in character" but AMAZING.

We went to WDW when I was 8.5 months pregnant with DD. We met Cinderella (my favorite princess) in Toontown. It wasn't crowded and we had a lovely conversation with her. Later in the trip we saw her again during Spectro. She saw us and smiled and waved in recognition.

Then this year we went for DD's first birthday. We saw the same Cinderella. After looking at us for a moment again her face lit up in recognition and she said, "We met while you were expecting this little princess didn't we?" I was amazed at her memory.

That is so awesome!!! Thank you for sharing! :)

Ariel is, hands down, DD5's fave princess. During our trip last year, Day 1 we saw VOTLM at DHS, Day 2 we met Ariel in her grotto and Day 3 found us at Akershus with Ariel at our table.

We were traveling with my wonderful parents, who are Disney nuts and clearly passed those genes on to me and my children. :goodvibes My dad starts asking me, "So how was today's Ariel different from the other days?" (He wasn't with us when we saw Ariel previously.) I nodded my head toward my DDs and said, "I don't know, Papa, because there's only one Ariel, right?" He was not following what I was saying AT ALL, because he asks AGAIN! I'm trying to repeat my original answer in a way that's obvious to him, but not to my children, when Ariel, who has already advanced to the next table, leans over and says, "Why, Papa, don't you know, I'm made of Disney magic! I'm just the same each day, no matter where you find me!"

THE BEST! I think Ariel is now my fave princess, too.

I was in Magic Kingdom just roaming the parks by myself because i wanted to see some characters. I went to see Tiana and Naveen, They asked where i was from and i told them Maryland but i made a point to say i love going down south and seeing family. We had a rather long conversation about southern foods. It was wonderful.

I also went to EPCOT that day for dinner and knew a pale friend(Snow White) of mine was going to be in Germany. So i was excited to go see her. Immediately she recognized me and we both started giggling and talking about my day.

We went to Narcoossee's one night and went to EMH at Magic Kingdom after dinner. I wanted to take advantage of being in a dress so i went and got pictures with the princesses. All three of them proceeded to compare their dresses with mine and insisted that mine was the best.

Finally we went to Pixie Hallow on the same night we went to Narcoossee's. Tink asked me if Rosetta had made my dress because it was made from a plant and Rosetta is the garden fairy. Terrence told me i was the prettiest fairy he had ever seen and Tink became extremely jealous and started drilling me with questions like where are you from and are you a nice fairy? I told Tink that i was taken but did appreciate Terrence being so nice. Then i whispered to Terrence to keep me in mind for that extra scoop of pixie dust. lol

Mulan is my DH's favorite character and he has always wanted to ask her, wouldn't she rather be out riding her horse in her soldier clothes than all dressed up in the outfit she hated? So I asked her last time I saw her (he'd gone to get FPs and no one else was around) and this is what she said:

I used to love riding Khan all over Disney World, but right after the Animal Kingdom opened we were riding there and he got spooked by a squirrel and threw me and I hurt my ankle. (He swears to this day he saw the yeti, but really, it was just a squirrel.) So now they say that I'm not allowed to ride anymore. They say it's out of concern for my safety. I miss it, but what can I do?

At lunch one day at Akershus, Jasmine took my nephews autograph book to sign. She looked at the cover and saw that it was a POTC themed book. She took a step back and looked suspiciously at him and asked, "Are you one of those smelly pirates?" He laughed and said "Yes!". She laughed and said, "I don't think you are, you're too cute."

Another day, we were watching the Tremaines meet & greet. A little girl was trying to juggle her water bottle and her autograph book while the ladies waited for her to pose for a picture with them. Impatiently one of the step sisters pointed to the girls mom and said, "Why don't you give your stuff to your servant to hold!" I thought the little girls mom would die laughing. :lmao:

My fiance's nickname is Chip, and he has a tattoo of Chip right on his arm where you can see it most days unless he's wearing longer sleeves. He always makes a point to wear sleeveless shirts while we're in Disney in case he sees Chip and Dale.

We were able to walk into the Garden Grill our last night of our trip (I had been trying for 5 months to get ADR's!!!!) and we were one of the few people there. When Chip and Dale came over, Brian showed Chip his tattoo and I thought that little 'munk was going to freak. He grabbed the handler, started pointing to Brian's arm, and then pointed to all the other characters. The handler and Dale went over and brought ALL of the characters and handlers over to see Brian's tattoo. When Mickey came over Chip pointed to Brian's arm, and then at Mickey and did the "nuh huh" sassy finger shake and then pointed at himself and nodded his head like he was the most popular guy on the planet.

Not as many "hardcore" chip and dale fans anymore, and I think Chip was just excited to be as popular as Mickey for a day.

I know a few people who are "friends" of the characters and even though they will talk in familiarity to us on stage they still stay in character even if noone is around they cant take the chance that someone will get within ear shot.

January 2009:
We were at DHS, meeting Stitch. It was freezing cold that week, in the mid-30's F (less than 10 degrees celcius, and going down to freexzing temps every night), so we had on our winter hats and jackets. Being from Canada, DS5 and DD7 had their mittens clipped onto their jackets with mitten clips like most kids around here do. Obviously this is not commonplace, as Stitch kept scratching his head trying to figure out what they were. My kids were hysterical laughing, and Stitch kept this up with them for several minutes. We have great pics:)

On the same trip, Tinkerbelle asked DD what was hanging from her jacket. Tink thought the mitten clips was a genious idea, as it's a great way to carry around and store all of your treasures.

oh goodness! i have a gazillion i could tell!

i will share one that happened at 1900 Park Fare. DS was wearing a sweatshirt with a pirate on it. Prince Charming came to our table and asked if DS was really a pirate. we explained that he had been sworn in by Captain Jack earlier that day. as he got up to leave, he asked if he should check his pockets to ensure that DS the pirate hadn't pillaged anything!

i could tell countless stories about the stepsisters. they are the best!

Snow White crawled under the table with DD one time.

on one trip, DD had gone to BBB before our CRT breakfast. Jasmine asked her if she'd been in a fight with Tinkerbell!

on our last trip, DD had a custom tank top with Drizella's face on it. Ariel asked her if she'd met the stepsisters and "did she scream when she saw it? No? Well, they have been working on their manners." Prince Eric told her he wanted Buzz Lightyear on his shirt. during this same visit, Jasmine and Alladin came over with a plastic snake and threw it at Ariel to try to scare her.

DD carried a stuffed Mickey to AK. we ran into Chip and Dale. they took Mickey, danced with him, kissed him and then insisted i take a picture of them with him.

Not as many "hardcore" chip and dale fans anymore, and I think Chip was just excited to be as popular as Mickey for a day.

^^ I think they are DD9's and my new favorite. At MK Chip come over and started dancing with me out of the blue! Then on DCL Chip got on his knee and took my hand and kiss it! Dale made a huge fuzz about DD9's formal night's dress and he too got on his knees and kissed her hand. Yup! Chip & Dale are new favs! :thumbsup2

One of my familys favorite comes from our 2004 trip.

It was my brothers first trip, he was 3 at the time. We went to Chef Mickeys for dinner about 1/2 way through the vacation. He had already met the Princesses and rly liked them and all the face characters as they talked back to him and would respond to his questions. As we were exiting Chef Mickeys Donald was standing there so my brother went up to him and could figure out why he wouldnt talk back so he stuck his head in Donaldson beak and demanded that he TALK!

It was soo funny and my dad got it on video. Now everytime we see Donald we laugh and joke about that day!

I could read these all day!

Some of our faves:

My 4 year old saw Donald fly through the wall at the Philharmagic. The next day she met Donald and her face got so concerned and she kept saying "Donald I was so worried of about you!" (She always threw in the extra "of") Donald mimed flying through the wall by laying across the retaining wall nearby and waving his legs around. She knew that he knew exactly what she was concerned about! He jumped up, dusted himself off and turned around so she could see he was fine. He gave her the "thumbs up" and all was well. I had no idea she was so worried about him!

The next morning we had b-fast at CRT and Snow White approached the table. My 4 year old blurts out very loudly "Snow White, you are my Daddy's favorite princess!" (She demanded that we all have a favorite and Daddy was assigned SW!) Dh said he felt a bit like a "dirty old man" which was evident by the blush working its way up from his neck! SW breathless exclaimed that she must have a picture with my prince and made him stand up and do the proper prince pose. It still makes me laugh everytime I see it!

Finally, my almost 2 year old was getting very antsy in line waiting for her turn for Pooh. When we were finally let in the gate she ran full speed and launched herself towards him. Pooh saw her coming and got down on one knee to cuddle her. She layed across his knee for several minutes while he stroked her head and back. No words...just a cuddle. Too sweet.

the last characters i met last trip were our favorites. we found lady tremaine and the stepsisters next the castle on our last stroll thru MK. a little girl went up in a homemade dress covered in ruffles. anastasia screams ruffles! i love ruffles! she lifted up her dress to reveal her slip and petit coat and shaking them back and forth. the little girl was terrifyed and started to cry. the stepmother replied....i cry every time she shows her underpinnings too. :lmao: .. it was priceless.

by the time i got up there i was game. i chatted about shopping for fine jewels with lady tremaine and when i told the sisters i didnt have a prince... a good prince is so hard to fine they sighed and said tell me about it. they were happy to know that i never got invited to the castle too.

hope to see them at 1900 pf this year!

another one. at 1900 Park Fare, my sister told Anastasia that she was too pretty to be a stepsister. without missing a beat she replied, "oh thank you. i put on my make-up today. i put on my lipstick and my blush and my eyeshadow."

we love her! she is a SCREAM! every time we've met her, she's had us rolling. and we've had the wonderful opportunity to run into her multiple times. she even came over to the stroller during the 3 pm parade on our last visit because DS was hiding behind it. she was screaming, "is there a pirate back there? come here, little pirate! come here, handsome!"

love her.

and we call this "our" Drizella. she is also a complete scream. my DD is completely enamored with her! forget the princesses! DD dressed as Drizella for halloween and had her Drizella tank top made (for our last trip) because of THIS girl.

DD wants to be Anastasia when she's old enough. she picks Anastasia only because her eyes are already blue. the thought of colored contacts frightens her! lol
