Hi all, planning to stay near Universal for a couple of week in September. Looking at II Getaway there are some very good options for amazing prices.
I've eyed Marriot Grande Vista, but for getaways they only have released studios so far, and I'd like a 1Br. So my requirements are:
  • near Universal. Ideally an easy commute via iRide, I plan to use Uber/lift when it's not possible or convenient, but I'd prefer to have a public transport option
  • 1 BR available in Getaways
  • I'm not too fussy about the pool
  • check in on Saturday (best) or Sunday. A Friday check in wouldn't work

Has anyone had any experience of the II resorts that are easy to get in Getaways?
Sheraton Vistana Villages is currently available at a good price, but it's a bit further away from Universal that I'd like. I've looked mainly at Sheraton or Marriott, I know nothing about the other resorts, are they good? They're cheaper, but with slightly worst ratings.

This might be a good time to join TUG (tugbbs.com) if you haven't already. You will get A LOT of first hand experience there.

We spent spring break at Cypress Harbour on an exchange. Those are all 2BRs, very nice resort. We drove to and fro, so can't comment on the trolley, but it appears to be on the Green line. No idea if it would turn up as a getaway.

I stayed at Harbour Lake in a 1 bdrm in September. It was a quick trip to Universal. The condo was spacious and comfortable. I didn’t use the pools or on-site restaurants so I can’t say anything about them. Check in was ok - hey held my owners locker. The timeshare pitch to get my “parking pass” ended when I said I already own DVC.

I’d stay there again if it becomes available for one of my future trips.
