Best ideas for getting good rate?

Darn - we just got off the Feb 29 Wonder and didn't rebook - argh!
Aside from the best deal of booking onboard and getting the 10% off and the stateboard credit, what is the next best way to get a cheap rate - book the trip way far in advance? Use Dreams Unlimited? Any other ideas?

I'm kicking myself for not rebooking - we in in the post-cruise depression that could have been made better by another cruise timer! LOL

Book as early as possible through DCL to lock in the rate. THEN, start looking around at places like allseastravel, Dreams Unlimited, AAA, etc. to see who can give you an even less expensive rate and possibly onboard credit.

But really...book as early as possible. I booked our next cruise -- March 5th 2005 Eastern -- this past end January/beginning February. Since then it has already gone up over $400!!! I'm so glad I didn't think about it too much longer. The rate increase was a mere 1 1/2 weeks after we made the reservation.

Check ALL the on line agencies. They all book group space at different times. The group rates are usually better than any other rates, each agency will have different dates available for their groups. Usually booking into one of these groups will get you the best rates. Most agencies are also offering either on board credit, or a discount on your cruise.

also check with travel agent in town, some friends that are booked with us went through TA and got a great rate on their cruise.

I just had very good luck on a short-notice cruise using www.cruisecompete.com.

You put in your cruise preference and the website gets it out to dozens and dozens of cruise travel agents--each one bidding for your business. I ended up getting a rate of $1000 less than DCL and about $500 less than Dreams Unlimited.
