Best Honeymoon Resort?

I wasn't sure if this question belonged in the resorts forum or the honeymoon forum... but anyway I just want to know what everyone recommends for the best honeymoon resort?

We were considering splurging (and saving up for) a Magic Kingdom view room at the Grand Floridian but it is really REALLY expensive and I've read a lot of mediocre reviews on the GF. I also really liked the idea of being on the monorail line. I was wondering if it was really worth it? I figure that my honeymoon is the only time that I would probably ever stay at that particular resort because when we have kids later we'd want to take them to a more fun. Any other ideas on nice romantic resorts? I'd like to splurge on a deluxe (hey, it is our honeymoon and I think I deserve the best for that!)

Thanks for your advice everyone I really appreciate it!

On our honeymoon we stayed at the GF and also the Poly. We really loved the Poly for our honeymoon. It was very romantic.

Well I don't have any advice on deluxe resorts cause we are more on a "moderate" budget, but we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, in the mansion section (Magnolia Bend) last year during our engagement vacation, and it was quiet, beautifully landscaped, and very romantic. We are staying there again for part of our honeymoon, so I would definitely recommend it for any romantic occasion. Here are a few pix. We really love this resort!

I think out of the deluxe resorts the Poly is the most romantic. You really feel like you are in Hawaii and what is more romantic than laying on a hammock watching wishes. :lovestruc

Plus you get the monorail!

When we started planning our Honeymoon everyone I spoke to recommended the Wilderness Lodge. I've heard nothing but rave reviews. We wound up being booked at the Grand Floridian but only because mom surprised us with a Concierge Suite and I couldn't pass that up! =P

Trust me when I say the POLY! If you want a monorail resort you want to stay there.

Saratoga Springs is also a beautiful resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge would be nice too.

POR is horrid do not stay there. We left there and switched to the POLY on our honeymoon. From OUR experience the CMs were rude and they messed some things up for us and we did not feel like we were in Disney at all. Hated it...the resort is beautiful but it's not enough to make us ever stay there again...oh and the bus service is also horrid there and the bus drivers even told us that it is lol. You will wait forever for a bus. We did but I'm sure others have had great bus service there. I guess it depends on the timing. Just giving you my review.

my fiance and I are staying at the Grand Floridian for 5 days and the Polynesian for 6 days.

I've heard amazing things about the Poly...as you see on this board. I also had a poll going on another thread about Disney's best resort, and Poly won by a landslide! Close seconds were wilderness lodge and GF

We're staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its one of the cheapest deluxes (along with Wilderness Lodge) and its so unique. I can't wait to sit on our balcony and watch the animals every morning. I'd love to stay at the Poly or GF, but I just can't see spending all the money.

I can't tell you for sure because I haven't been to Disney in over 10 years, but we're staying at the Beach Club Resort for our honeymoon! It looks fabulous from pics that I've seen, everyone says it has the best pool on Disney property, plus I love that it's a short walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. And it's not quite as expensive as Grand Floridian or Poly.

Of the moderate resorts I strongly recommend POFQ! We are honeymooning there next year! :lovestruc It is very intimate and romantic. Plus DTD is just a boat ride away! :thumbsup2 Of course the deluxe resorts are just amazing but since we will be staying over 10 days during Christmas prices that was just not an option for us. :sad2: However we will be staying at AKL for our wedding night which is just fabulous! I have stayed there both with and without savannah view and I found that I loved it just as much without the view of the animals! It is just so unique! :goodvibes

Df and I have always wanted to stay at the GF and could never afford to or justify the money since we only sleep there. But for our HM we are. Just in a basic room. I know lots of people stay in suites but for us just to stay at the GF is a splurge and we cannot wait!

We stayed at the Beach Club on our honeymoon, along with the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Grand Floridian.

The Beach Club was by far our favorite for all the reasons mentioned, plus we could see MK fireworks from our balcony and we loved the theming. :lovestruc

You can see MK fireworks from the Beach Club????

We'll be spending a week at the Boardwalk Inn in a Deluxe Club level room. We really love the atmosphere/theme (I'm a Jersey shore girl), proximity to Epcot, rollercoaster slide, and the restaurants and activities on the Boardwalk.

My second choice would be the Beach Club, third, the Yacht Club.

Is the Boardwalk within walking distance to the Beach Club?

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge on our honeymoon and LOVED IT! It is by far my fave resort. It is the cheapest deluxe, along w/AKL. But it almost has the same advantages of the other monorail resorts, except for the monorail. It is very close to the MK, and you can ride a boat over to the Contemporary and get on the monorail there. Plus it is just so romantic! We love everything about it!

I also love the Poly, but it is much higher. I also agree w/the others who said Port Orleans Riverside is awesome. It's a BEAUTIFUL resort, and there are great reviews out there. I have friends who will only stay there.

It really just kinda depends on your budget, and what kind of theming you're looking for!

We stayed at the Yacht Club, concierge level, for our honeymoon. We were able to get a nice passholder discount. We loved the Yacht Club because it was more intimate and quiet than any of the other resorts on property. Plus, the location is perfect for an adults only vacation.

We stayed at the Grand for a few nights on our trip. This is somewhere I always wanted to stay but when we left we said we would never stay there again, I don't know why we felt like that. If money wasn't an issue we would stay at the Poly or WL.
