I work with kids and sometimes they say things that crack me up- I had to share this one!

Me: "We both have the hiccups!"
7 year old boy: "I'll scare you and then they will go away."
Me: "Great idea." (thinking he will say "boo" or "there's a monster under the table")
7 year old boy: "YOU HAVE A BABY IN YOUR BELLY" :scared1: :rotfl2:

Well my hiccups stopped, and I nearly peed my pants. His mom is pregnant again (baby #4) so it's on his mind apparently.

But I'm in my 20's and unmarried... so the thought really was scary! :lmao:

Oh that's hilarious!

One time, when DH (then fiance) and I were having some troubles, one evening I was hiccuping like crazy, and he looked at me sternly and said "Molly, we have to talk".

It did indeed scare the hiccups away!

Hasn't worked since, of course.

Spoonful of brown sugar does it for me.

Drinking a glass of water 'upside down' works every time. Think it must be the concentration involved that makes it work.

Scaring always works for me. Once when we were driving through D.C. I had the hiccups and they were getting quite annoying and loud. I was distracted by all the sights and not really paying attention to DH. The next thing I know we stopped at a light and he was practically on top of me in my face screaming muahhhaaahaaa. I nearly jumped out of the truck!! Needless to say my hiccups went away and I became the entertainment for the day.

Gulping down sips of water does it for me. There was a time when I plugged my ears while doing it but realized its totally unneccesary and I just looked like a fool

This is the only way we have ever gotten them to go away. My daughters gotten them a couple of different times over at friends houses and they, both friends and parents, look at her like she's lost her mind when she does it, but are amazed at the fact they are gone almost as soon as she is standing straight up.

hold your breath for 10 minutes...guaranteed never to get hiccups again

Drinking a glass of water with a butter knife in it, so that the butter knife is touching your forehead the entire time...sounds weird, but I think it's because you can't stop drinking because the butter knife would move....it works!

A shot of Sweet and sour mix, hold the booze...

Teaspoon of sugar and water. Has never failed me.

Never again? LOL Nope, doesn't work. It works at the time but you sure will get them again! LOL

Really??

I do the spoon of sugar on your tongue, or the glass of water upside down, or I breathe in and out slowly and deeply and that works, not as good as water or sugar but it works. :)

No; I'm pretty sure if you hold your breath for 10 minutes as PP suggested you'll never have hiccups again. :rotfl:

Jennifer

:lmao: yes, you are probably correct....I read 10 seconds not minutes! :rotfl:

I remember in my 9th grade geometry class my teacher had an excellent way to get rid of someone's hiccups. When someone in the class would get hiccups, she'd stop what she was doing and call the person to the front of the room. She would tell the whole class to stop what they were doing and to only focus on the person at the front of the room. She would then ask the person to give the loudest hiccup they could. The hiccups were always gone. Worked every single time :thumbsup2
