best functional souvenier?

My 13 yr old son used his own money to buy a messenger bag at the Animal Kingdom gift shop. I was really surprised because it was $24 and I didn't think he'd want to spend that much on something like that. But it was really a great souvenier plus he used it to carry things in the park. Apparently much 'cooler' from a 13 yr old perspective than carrying a small cooler or backpack! *lol* He also donated $1 to the wild life foundation and received a large pin which he added to the bag!

I ordered princess night gowns and a goofy t-shirt from Disney direct for the girls and my son ... much less expensive than buying them on-site, and we just put them out on the beds the first night we were in our hotel. The girls were in the tub and my son was watching TV so it was a cute surprise for them.

It's so basic, but I love writing my grocery list, paying bills, etc. with my Disney pen. It's just a basic $4 model but is still fun. Cheap, and doesn't take up much space either!

I agree. I love to use my Disney Pens to scribble or write in my journal. I also have a great mug I bought when I went to DTD. I use it whenever I want to curl up to a nice hot cup of tea.

Of all the things we brought back from our WDW trip (ranging from photo frames to Mr. Potato Head) the one we use almost daily is a popcorn bucket from AK. My DD loves having her microwaved popcorn served in it! Okay...so it's not a "real" souvenir, but she loves it just the same!

2003 bought a black and white tote I carry to work everyday (I'm a Kindergarten teacher).

2004--WDW embroidered fanny-pack style camera bag.

so i'm back from my trip, and what did i end up getting as a souvenier? 2 gorgeous mugs from my favorite WS pavilion, japan - on sale so they were only $4 each! - and a pack of headbands with mickey on them. totally not what i expected to get, but I was really in need of some new headbands, and having mickey on them is definately a plus :goodvibes i had been hoping to buy some mickey spoons but you could only get them if you bought a huge pack of dining utensils that was kind of expensive, plus i don't think i could take a knife on the plane. so much for that.

I always buy something for my office - a pen, frame, picture holder clip thingie.

That way, when I return to work in post-Disney depression, I'll have something to look at everyday to remind me of the trip.

I've been looking for small dishes for serving olive oil for dipping bread etc. I bet those would work great. I'll have to make a note to look for that in May.

My favorite souvie was the Chef Mickey cookbook. It has a recipe for the Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier. It also has a recipe for Mickey's tirimisu and you use twinkies instead of lady fingers. I still need to try that one but it really sounded good. The soup tastes very similar to Le Celliers and I found some really good pretzels in Sams.

Also bought some of the mickey shaped reusable ice cubes. They're plastic with some kind of liquid and you freeze them. They're cute. Nice for parties.

I'm also a keychain fan. I bought mine in Norway...it's the Mickey head with the Norwegian flag on it. I love it! I used my CSR refillable mug this morning for my coffee and dh used the plastic AK cups last night. Both of the kids are wearing their t-shirts today. Actually, we all wear our t-shirts. Dh bought a hat that he still wears. DD had a Winnie the Pooh sippy she still drinks out of. Pens because we can never have too many.

We limited toys. Each kid got to pick one. DS picked a really cool dragon and knight from Germany and dd got a stuffed Winnie the Pooh.

T-shirts and cups/mugs are very useful and that's what we gave as souvenirs too.

BTW~~I'm wearing a t-shirt from my trip to Cozumel that is 6 years old...got my money's worth.

I love personalized keychains, its amazing how many different spellings there are of Crystal. I also love magnets.

I purchased a white waffle-weaved "sweat" jacket from the Polynesian Resort. It was I think $60, and the pants were another $60, but I just got the jacket.
It's a "spa look" type of sweat suit.
I love that thing! On the cruise I plan on buying a full "sweat suit".

Sweat shirts with the zipper I find are the best. They last and you can wear them whenever.

Also bought some of the mickey shaped reusable ice cubes. They're plastic with some kind of liquid and you freeze them. They're cute. Nice for parties.

:Pinkbounc omg what a fantastic idea! They did something to our water that makes is smell of a mixture of wet bathing suit and wet dog shudder. I don't want to evenwash dishes in it. We went right out and bought a water cooler (love it! it's one of those hot/cold ones) and we now buy bagged ice but those reusable ice cubes would sooo much easier and fun too! How many come in a package and how much are they?

Beach Towels. I try to get a new one each time we go on vacation anywhere.

Hi everyone - I admit that the last thing i need is another disney souvenier, but i'd like to bring at least one special thing back with me from my trip in march. the thing is, i'm not one for little knicknacks or pictures, i like functional souveniers - stuff that i can USE. i already have a great set of drinking glasses (including a shotglass, ha) and a wallet from my last trip, so i don't need those. i was wondering what other people's favourite functional souveniers were to buy at the parks? thanks! princess:

I like collecting the magnet picture frames! I have about 10 different ones on my fridge with pictures of my ds and characters in them! They are a nice daily reminder of our trips! :Pinkbounc I also purchase scrap book stuff, a photo album, a snow globe and a photo frame each trip! :Pinkbounc

Does anybody know the answer to where silver charms can be found, and how much?? I would love to start up a charm bracelt! :flower:

My souveniers include a nice watch ( I am a wath fanatic like some people are with other jewelry) I also plan on buying a Cukoo clock from the Germany pavillion. (it will be a few year before I get to Germany and get one from there.

i use them daily
they are all over my refrigerator, only Disney
everytime I go, i search for new ones
We are going to Disneyland and CA for the first time this summer,
think I'll need a bigger refrigerator.
