Which is more valuable? A boyfriend or a best friend?

i dunno. at a young age(under18) i would say a best friend is more valuable because boyfriends come and go but if you have one friend whos always there for you, then they will last forever!

This thread really made me realize my standards. Before my boyfriend and I started dating, I could still tell him anything I wanted to. He was pretty much my best friend then. Now that we've been together for almost 4 months, he knows everything that runs through my head. I talk to him every day. I talk to him more than I talk to people I live with. He is my best friend. He knows my deepest darkest secrets, and I know his. I just don't understand how you can have a relationship with someone who isn't a close friend like that? How could your boyfriend/girfriend NOT be your best friend?

From the point of view from a girl who doesn't have a boyfriend:

I value best friends more. I've had several since forever. They've become my backbone over the years.

But when I did have a boyfriend a year and a half ago, I cherished every moment of it.

I guess it depends on if you have a boyfriend or not . .

I'm one of those people who've never had a boyfriend. So I'd try to balance it out, because my friends are basically what keep me together. They don't mean everything to me, but the thing is, I'd be a ghost without them. People don't know who I am unless I'm being loud with my friends. When I'm alone, I'm at my worst. But yes, someday my boyfriend will be my best friend.

Best friends hands down.
But if you've found the one, and your friends say no he's.. whatever- I might actually choose my boyfriend. It depends on their opinions, because their acusations might be true.
