Best for blisters?

Thanks for posting this. Last couple trips, I got blisters from crocs, not in the usual spots. I think I"m going to try this for our trip next month, pre-emptively!! I do use the regular moleskin after the fact, but would love to not have to deal with blisters at all. Thank you for this suggestion.
I get blisters from the genuine crocs because they're just a little too big for me. I need a size 6.5 and the closest they have is a 7.

But I can get blisters from anything so even the correct size might not save me.

I use a type of black athletic tape on the areas of my foot that would normally be prone to blisters...back of the ankle, right at the top of the shoe-line, the ball of my foot, etc. The tape is thin but provides good skin protection to keep the blisters from forming.

Also, do not underestimate the value of a quality sock and shoe. I swear by my Bombas socks and Brooks sneakers for Disney days. 25k steps a day and never a blister.
I just looked into the Bombas, and there's so, so many kinds! Which are you referring to? Thanks!

There's definitely something to be said about quality shoes. For years I would always get blisters by day three or four, but my shoes at the time must not have been very good, because the past few times I haven't gotten any blisters at all. But when I did get blisters I would typically use bandaids, which worked pretty well. Don't forget you can always get free bandaids from the first aid stations at the park.

I know people warn against it but I wear two pairs of socks and that both helps to prevent blisters and keep my feet from genuinely throbbing.

actually I've heard that some runners swear by wearing 2 pairs of socks so that only the socks can rub against each other. But I really have no idea. If it works for you, keep doing it...I might even try that but I just need to find the right socks

Didn't see it mentioned yet, but I got a blister last time and picked up Compeed blister bandaids and they literally saved the trip for me. I'm bringing a bunch with me this time, just in case. I also bring at least 2 pairs of broken in athletic shoes (Hokas for me) to switch off each day. Helps keep them drier and more cushioned.

I tend to get blisters in a particular place so I put on a band-aid first then put moleskin on top of it. I don't want the moleskin adhesive on the bad spot. I do this every morning at Disney before putting on my socks. Haven't gotten blisters since I started doing this.

Band-Aid now makes a bandage called "hydro-seal". It cushions the blister. You put it on like a band-aid, but leave it on for a few days (I forget how many). It stays on in the shower, etc. When you take it off, the blister is close to healed.
Band-Aid has made these for a while. They used to be called blister bandaids. They are great and come with me on every Disney trip. Never tried them, but CVS has a generic brands with different sizes.

target.com has dr scholl's mole skin pads. You cut them to size. You can attach them to a hot spot inside your sneaker to proactively prevent blisters and it works. Make sure you cut them up before you leave or pack a $store kid scissor in your checked bag. It is nearly impossible for whatever reason to find this product on the shelf. I ordered a package last week. Do not buy off brands as they do not work!

Bombas merino wool socks are the best. Cotton is not good in sneakers as sweating makes them soggy and rubs against your feet causing hot spots. Bombas.com is expensive but if you travel, keep the socks for those occasions and you will get your money's worth out of them. Look online for coupon codes.

Happy travels!

Ideally not getting them...Comfy well-broken in shoes and I like double layered socks like Wright socks which have a think under layer that ostensibly rubs against the outer layer as opposed to your feet. I've had 100% success with them at Disney, but not on all hiking trips, so YMMV. If you do get a blister, Compeed is amazing. It's mostly in Europe I think but we have no problem getting it on Amazon here in Canada so I'm sure the US is the same. I also have Hypafix, which I use for all sorts (it's a very thin, flexible, stays on for days bandage/tape) and that can be useful for small blisters and hot spots--it will wrap around any old weird shape and stay there.

Bring multiple pairs of shoes and switch to a different pair every day (I do this twice a day). Seems to work really well for me. And all the above mentioned Ed hacks are great!

What do you love for blister prevention/repair? I'm taking my 4 year old on his first trip in September (yay!!!!) and I'm not sure what to pack for blister care. I've always just used bandaids for me, but I should probably be more proactive this trip.
Best thing I have found that works for prevention is to spray your feet with deodorant … saw this tip here and it’s worked for me every time
