Best evening meals?

Last week we ate at the following restaurants:
Monday lunch...Annette's Diner. Lovely food, good sized portion, nice atmosphere, loved it.
Monday evening....Billy Bob's. Very expensive, be warned that these buffet places charge 'under 12's' and NO WAY would a little one eat enough food to make it worth while. Also, food was fairly bland and mediocre. DH said for the first time ever that he didn't like the ribs and he usually loves ribs.
Tuesday lunch...Chalet de marionette (or however it is spelt!) Dh had a burger and chips, I had a sandwich (kids menu) and ds had the chips from the kids menu. It was ok, nothing special though! And very dark in there, I like to see what I am eating.
Tuesday evening...Buffalo Bills. This was a fantastic night, me and dh loved it, although ds was moaning throughout. Dh had the adult normal food which started with chilli (2 bowls of!), then had chicken kebab type thing, wedges, sausages follwed by apple pie and ice cream. I had the veggie option that was veg chilli (nice) followed by pasta with cheese sauce on a bed of mixed veggies..also very nice, and then apple pie and ice cream. Ds had the kids meal that was chicken (he didn't eat it) a sausage and some wedges. He actually ate more of my veg chilli than he did of the kids meal. His dessert was an ice lolly. Just a word of warning though, I don't suffer from Asthma or allergies, but I did have a nasty cold/cough and found it a bit hard to breath in the arena with all of the dust etc. But a fabulous night.
Wednesday lunch....We all shared a pizza with garlic bread meal from pizza bella in fantasyland. It was ok, not the best pizza I have had but def not the worst!
Wednesday evening..we were wanting to try Planet Hollywood to use the 20% off voucher in our guide book but dh was not very hungry so we opted for Mcdonalds instead...bad mistake, bad service, messy food (looked awful, all thrown together).
Thursday lunch....Market Place Deli, lovely sandwiches for all of us. I had a grilled vegetable sandwich, dh had a chicken and bacon baguette and ds had a cheese and ham toasted sandwich (which was huge so dh ended up finishing it off). Enjoyed our lunch here, added to the fact we were able to sit and watch the charater express go by.
Thursday evening...Cafe Mickey. We were very disappointed with food here, but the fact that ds had so much fun with the characters kind of excused the poor food. We had pre booked (and pre paid) for the 3 course meal so dh and I had mushroom soup to start. I've never had mushroom soup before but won't be rushing to have it again, it was lukewarm, and didn't taste of anything at all, plus looked yucky! Dh then ordered the Pluto Steak which he had to send back twice as it was full of gristle and chewy, even then when it came out again it was still awful so he gave up. I wasn't inspired by the veg option so I had the Chip n Dale fish and chips. The fish was gorgeous but the chips were cold. I don't agree that the portions are huge, they certainly weren't for our night! Ds had chicken nuggets and chips followed by the dessert buffet which he chose a few sweets and that was all, so it was a bit of an expensive meal for him. Me and dh both had the apple tart dessert. I didn't like the caramel sauce on it, I found it a very strong taste and not like caramel, but mixed with the ice cream it was more palatable. Dh had the 'joy' of finding a shard of plastic in his food too

Don't know if this will help in your choices but as it is still 'fresh' I thought it may help you decide.

the Beaver Creek over at the SL is very nice (though the steak can be a bit tough lol), the Plaza Gardens is quite nice too.
Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood are always good choices

Buffalo Bill's is a dining show so don't expect a relaxed meal.

It's dished out 'conveyor-belt' style.

We done it the once and, despite the kids loving the show, would probably not go back.

Oh, I have heard reports about undercooked chicken too.

Cafe Mickey isn't too bad, it's worth doing for the characters. The decor is very Little Chef (apart from the toilets which appear to be a Homage to Hitler's bunker)! But the food I had was quite nice

We ate at the stakehouse place last tuesday.......i had the pork ribs with honey and rosemary and it was superb, anettes was nice although they messed up and only cooked food for one of us?? Had the all you can eat at the santa fe aswell........not going to tell you where i spent most of my time that evening!!!

On our trip last month we ate at the following places:

Annettes Diner - I was actually *shock horror* a little bit disappointed here. It was not bad, but I was expecting more considering it's rave reviews - we did however get a take out meal here later in the holiday and I enjoyed that better so maybe a combination of a loooooong day travelling and a bad choice (onion burger) were to blame on our first meal.

King Ludwigs Castle - We ate upstairs and it was quite empty so not tonnes of atmosphere, I did like the themeing and the food was very good. I had French Onion Soup followed by Weiner Schnitzel followed by Ice Cream.

Cafe Mickey - Agree with an earlier poster the night we went the portions were NOT huge. I had Chip and Dales fish n chips, gorgeous fish, chips were chilly. Also as some of our party ordered starters and some didn't they bought starters out for those who ordered them and at the same time people who didn't have a starter got their main course... odd. I had Baloos Tutti Frutti Chocolate Fondue style dessert which was GORGEOUS. Agree that the decor is a bit naff but the character interaction was great and saved us wasting time in the parks queuing to see characters with a 2 year old.

Cable Car Bakery - delicious strawberry tarts!

Market Street Deli - Nice Sandwiches

Toad Hall - Best chips in the park (English style chunky chips not thin French Fries) liked the Tomato soup and croutons too. Didn't try the fish.

I'd definitely recommend Blue Lagoon - atmosphere is great, food is top notch and the waiter we had was very entertaining. Quite pricey mind, and not a great deal of choice on the menu, but it's worth a look.

I've seen a few people recommend Inventions - does anyone know if you can still get the 20% discount for booking a 6pm table? I was thinking of doing this on the day we leave (have to be at the airport at 10.20pm) as a final thing at DLP for the children (seeing as the characters are supposed to be good at inventions..).

Does anyone know what the vegetarian selection on the buffet is like? I did read someone put that with all the fresh fish etc it wasn't bad value but as we'd only be eating veggie I didn't know if we'd have much choice at all, or whether we'd be paying over the odds to just eat some chips & veg (as has happened before to us at buffets at some places!).

I love Blue Lagoon- wonderful atmosphere and the food is to die for. Personally I didn't like Annettes Diner all that much, but did enjoy King Ludwigs and Rainforest- in park I really liked Steakhouse too! I find big meals in evening a re better if poss as during day a table meal really eats into the time. Quick question I've never understood, on nights the park closes at around 8 at what time do they stop seating people in the table service restaurants in the park?

Upstairs in cafe Mickey,was fab ! I agree large portions of IMO really nice food

I remember people remarking they have managed to book early dinners when the park shut this early. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Hi

I really enjoyed Anettes diner and the Rainforest. I would recommend booking the rainforest because it gets very busy. Its definately worth the visit for the atmosphere.

We have also eaten in the Manhatten restaurant at the new york which was really nice too.
