Best Epcot RD strategy to do test track. GO!!

We are going to Epcot today. I'm not sure if there even is a best one now that doing internal RD. But any tips or tricks of which rope to stand at or ways to get there would be appreciated.

There really is only one way, which is to follow the CM's to the ride. When we did it this summer, we had a rude tool bad in the mix with him. I was a bit behind my wife and son, and to their right. This young woman was nearly directly behind my son, who was pretty well at the front of the crowd, and her boyfriend to her left. I actually heard him tell her to push the boy out of the way, and then go on to say if you won't do it, trade spots with me, and I will. They traded spots, as he suggested, so then all 6', 270 pounds of me took position behind my son. Needless to say, it wasn't my son that got pushed out of the way. Said gentlemen then crossed behind me in an attempt to get past us on our right. Crossed so closely behind me that he took the heel of my right shoe off on his way through. Unfortunately for him, I managed to keep my shoe, and keep walking, and he tripped in the process and lost a few spots in the line. I felt that was a well deserved outcome.

I guess then my advice is, get to the front of the group, or at least as close as you can, be sure you are following a Test Trac CM (we stood and had a conversation with one while waiting for the rope to drop) and then hold your spot in the crowd.

No need for a 'strategy' - especially such aggression as shown above. Just follow the CM at rope drop over to the attraction. There's only one direct way there, so no secret short-cuts, etc. Since EPCOT is pretty short on queued attractions right now, there's no need to get worked up about position in line. My daughter and I can get all the rides in on one day, and still have time to go all around World Showcase.

For what it is worth, I wasn't at all worked up about position in line. I was a bit put off by someone of adult age preparing to push an 11 year old boy out of his way, and did what I felt proper to keep that from happening. Had there not been the intent to push my kid, I couldn't have cared less if they had gotten in front of us in line. Crossing behind us to do so, no big deal, I just thought it funny, in light of the failed plan to push the kid out of the way, that he happened to cross so closely behind me that he tripped over my foot. Not something I planned, intended, or helped to happen in any way. There was no aggression on my part, simply protecting my son from being pushed around by an adult who should know better than to do such things.

I only related the story, because I have seen similar behavior during rope drop in the past, and though the op might benefit from knowing that this does occur, and if you ARE at the front of the crowd, you should be aware of the potential for such behavior from other guests.

Not if you want to do Soarin' without waiting a couple hours.

Yeah, not so much. What DID eliminate this mess was letting people come through the gates and straight into the park. Lining everyone up at a rope like that is just asking for problems. We did the rope drop with the intention of riding standby quickly, and with our first FP+ scheduled to start at 9:30 instead of 9, so that we could ride once standby, then go right back on via FP+ for two quick rides. It worked well for us, and is a strategy I am sure we will use again in the future, even for TSMM.

RD has gotten ridiculous with more and more people pushing and shoving just to save a few minutes.

On several visits, we've been able to ride Test Track 3 times in about an hour by waiting until 8 pm or so. The line can get really short as the vast majority of visitors start making their way to the World Showcase for Illuminations. Just keep in mind that the posted wait time is often 4x the actual wait late at night.

We find this strategy to be a much more efficient use of our time than fighting through the rope drop crowd.
