We normally bring our own ecv but since we are deciding to take a smaller car for the weekend we can't bring the ecv. I can't walk from the parking lot to the inside of the park because I have bad knees and hips. So we want to rent from off site. Where is one of the best places to rent an ecv from and for a good price?

Post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread that is pinned near the top of this forum has information about off-site ECV vendors. "Featured" vendors are allowed to utilize Bell Services at WDW resorts for pick-up and return, while Non-Featured vendors will make personal arrangements to meet you. There are reviews for vendors on both lists, and more specifics if you search the threads.

Enjoy your vacation!

I really like Walker Mobility. I recommend them so often that people probably think I get paid (I don't). Their prices are reasonable, their scooters are always in good condition, their service is dependable, and everyone I've ever dealt with has been friendly and helpful. I've used them on 3 previous trips, and will be using them again in September. I can't recommend them highly enough! :thumbsup2

If you are not staying onsite, how do you transport an ECV? I am going to have knee surgery in 2 weeks and have a trip planned for Oct/Nov.....not sure whether I'll be ready to walk that much by then, so looking into ECV just in case. We'll be renting an Intermediate car, staying offsite. I know the ECV company will deliver it to the rental house, but how do I get it from the house to WDW? Does it come with a carrier and is it safe to put it on a rental car (don't want to pay for scratches or other damage!)

Thank you

Let them know you need one that can be transported. Many come apart into sevearl pieces - base, seat, tiller...

Tell your rental company you will be transporting your ECV by car. They have models that quickly and easily disassemble and reassemble to load into your trunk. My personal ECV is a Pride Go-Go Elite plus. It comes apart into 5 pieces (seat, battery, rear wheels with motor, main deck with tiller, and basket). The two heaviest pieces (battery and rear wheels/motor) weigh about 35 lbs each. I can easily fit the scooter plus one large or two small suitcases in the trunk of my Hyundai Sonata. I haven't had any problem with scratches but most rental companies offer insurance fairly cheaply, which might give you some peace of mind, especially if it's your first time.

If you don't need the ECV to get from where you park to your room, you can leave most of it in the trunk overnight and just carry the battery in to charge. Saves one load/unload per day.
