I will be going to WDW for the 1st time next June for my Honeymoon. What resort is would be most appropriate? I do love Disney but also don't want to stay somewhere overly themed like Art of Animation.

Until you said WDW, I would have voted for Aulani...

At WDW, depends on your personality. VGF is probably my favorite - feels a bit like the "Somewhere in Time" (old movie) theming with great dining at Narcoossee's, Citricos and V&A's and Cali Grill just a monorail hop away.

I personally would pick SSR for a honeymoon. It depends on your plans and personality.
We spent half the time in our room in Stowe, Vermont...doing...this and that... :p
We also went to some restaurants, went for some walks. So SSR would have been a similar experience.

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon!

For a honeymoon in June 2022?

My first choice would be the Boardwalk. It's adult-themed and within walking distance of probably the two most adult theme parks: Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Epcot's appeal is obvious (World Showcase). DHS is more subtle. It has some of the more grown-up attractions and good bars at Prime Time, Brown Derby, and especially outdoors at Baseline Tap House.

The Boardwalk itself has a variety of bars and restaurants, and you're also within walking distance of 5 more hotels with their own bars & restaurants.

Lake Crescent (located on the Boardwalk) is lovely to walk around at night:

585544

If the Boardwalk is too pricy, then I suggest Port Orleans French Quarter. It's the smallest Moderate Resort and tends to be one of the quietest.

Boardwalk and it's not remotely close.

Not only can you walk or boat to two parks, you can stroll down the boardwalk with the lights a night, more boardwalk performers like will be back, it has the only "night club" scene at Disney, and has Epcot and 4 resorts for tons of amazing dinner options.

Also rent from a Boardwalk owner if you don't have points there and make sure to get the Boardwalk View.

I would say next is RIV for all the BWV reasons except the rooms are nicer but you are not walking.

Finally it would be BCV for the pool if you want to layout by the pool most days.

Things like Poly, BLT, and VGF are really a monorail crawl night.

My wife and I came back from WDW just a few weeks ago for our own honeymoon. While we stayed in Wilderness Lodge (loved it here for that exact reason of not being overly themed) we did a lot of dinner reservations at various resorts.

Poly's atmosphere is great and so is the Grand Floridian's. Honestly, with the transportation, any of the MK resorts would work really well for a Honeymoon!

I vote Grand Floridan or Rivera. Both elegant and sophisticated. GF has the monorail location, beautiful grounds, shops and great restaurants and lounge. Rivera is new, gorgeous, beautiful grounds, great pools and a roof top restaurant.❤️❤️

I have never stayed but I would choose The Grand Floridian. Elegant and great resturants. And just a short ( and very nice) walk to the Magic Kingdom. Magic all around.

Grand Floridian is the most upscale resort - perfect for a honeymoon. Riviera would be 2nd in terms of being upscale and a splurge for a honeymoon (but I prefer to be on the monorail, so many easy and fantastic options for dinner). Either way try to eat at Victoria & Alberts for dinner one night, once it reopens. Total splurge but worth it on your honeymoon!

What resort is would be most appropriate?
Appropriate is in the eye of the beholder, and depends on the vibe that speaks to the two of you.

Are you looking for something that is a peaceful respite from the parks? That could be OKW, AKV, or SSR, depending on whether you are looking for "island time," "adventure travel," or "quiet sophistication," respectively.

Are you looking to be immersed in good food options? BCV or BWV for access to Epcot's venues or SSR for easy access to Disney Springs.

Do you want to be go-go-go? The MK area fits the bill there if you are kids in adult form, while the Epcot area works better for "post-Peter Pan grownups".

Are you looking for elegance? GFV or RIV would be great.

It's also worth thinking about room types. We like having a real "home base," so we'd've preferred a 1BR to a studio. Some days you just want to have breakfast in bed---particularly on your honeymoon! 1BRs also come with king beds, while studios do not.

We're coming up on 24 years, so our honeymoon is well in the rear-view mirror. Ours was in Jamaica in an all-inclusive resort, where we had a villa with a private pool/hot tub and a butler who made us breakfast every morning. So, very much not WDW. But if we were going to do WDW, I suspect it might be AKV Savannah view in a 1BR, and probably Kidani, but not sure about that part.

A lot of people have mentioned the Boardwalk, and I like that option, but I personally found the boardwalk "entertainment" district itself anticipointing. Yes, there's a dance club, but it always seemed empty. The restaurants are IMO lacking except for Flying Fish (and maybe the newish Italian place--I haven't been). The dueling piano bar is fun, but that's more an early-relationship date-night thing for me.

Most couples initially have a few different locations in mind for a honeymoon. If you’ve considered somewhere tropical for a honeymoon, go with Poly. If you were considering somewhere rustic, go with Wilderness. Considering somewhere super upscale fancy, Grand Floridian. If you were thinking of a Atlantic City kind of vibe, go with BW. If animals are you’re thing, AK lodge is beautiful. Personally I’d avoid Riviera because it is the most boring the e wise of all the resorts, with a small unimpressive lobby and overpriced rooms.

But if we were going to do WDW, I suspect it might be AKV Savannah view in a 1BR, and probably Kidani, but not sure about that part.

If AKV were up and rolling, Jiko, Sanaa and (for me) Boma are up there with the best dining options on property.

I vote for the Poly, but Boardwalk is a good choice, too. Those seem like the consensus picks in this thread!

I do like all three of those. I haven't been to Boma in a while, but Jiko was the place I chose to celebrate my 50th birthday.
