Best dvc resort for wedding anniv.?

HI everyone, we're new dvc owners (AKL) and will be doing disney in Sept. for our 15th wedding anniversary, just dh and I - no kids! So we're wondering where would be the best resort to try and book at? the only one we've stayed at currently is AKL...we're thinking of trying Boardwalk, if we can get in at 7 months.

Any suggestions? thanks!!

VWL is romantic!

I agree with Mike, VWL is romantic. Plus you can go sit on the beach at night and watch the water pageant...we loved it there.

BC/BW are good choices too, lots of nightlife at the BW since you won't have the kids with you and Epcot is right there, too.

We are going in July for our anniversary and we picked AKV so we could stay concierge. Since we won't have the kids, we want to be catered to.

Also, I was advised when I asked that if I had the points to do it, the GF is great for an adults only anniversary trip.

We will do that someday when our older 2 are out of the house and we don't need to get 2 BR's every trip!

I would choose WLV BUT the BWV would be great too... they have a quiet pool area which means no kids and the night life is amazing. There are places and things to do only at night, which does not usually work with kids.

You could take a bus to the MK (make sure they are running late), then the boat to WL OR if you have a park hopper, you can go through Epcot to the monorail to MK (very long walk), then the boat to WL.

We were married at the Yacht Club, so Beach Club is our #1 DVC alternate. I love being able to walk to EPCOT.

DW and I are new members as well and will be celebrating our 15th this year. We will be celebrating at AKV. We think that it will be nice and restful. I do also think the BWV or BCV would be great as Epcot is right there and all of the restaurants at the BWV, BCV, YC, BC, Swan and Dolphin are there as well.

You can't go wrong with a WDW, and particularly a DVC anniversary celebration. Happy planning!

I'm mainly posting to remind you that you can use your points with the Disney collection, which includes all the Disney resorts from value to deluxe. For instance, perhaps you may want to stay at the GF or Poly (even concierge!). I understand why you may want to try all the villas, but just another suggestion.

SSR would be great also if you wanted to do any of the couples' spa treatments. Plus the theming there is very elegant.

I would also opt for AKV Concierge. While I love BCV, that one doesn't scream romance to me. A Boardwalk View is always magical...but you will have the hustle and bustle of the BW as opposed to quiet and romantic. But then again, there is lots of adult-stuff on the Boardwalk, so it is always a good option.

We stayed at wilderness lodge back in 1997 "before kids" , so I think I"m still leaning towards BCV or BW. We're also thinking we'll try the DDP for the first time, so we can do some nice meals.

You will be happy with either... great location for both. We also love the dining plan (even with the changes we save). But be warned there is not much in the way of counter service at the BW that is on the plan. The Bakery is it. They have a small (but nice) breakfast and lunch selection. But it is so cheap that you would want to pay for food there OOP. Use your counters in the parks or across at the Beach Club's Hurricane Hannahs. Our big problem with the BW was its lack of counter food. There are places that serve food (like fries and chicken) but they open later in the day. The pizza counter no longer takes the plan. But the resort itself is lovely. You MAY want to request a quiet location for your room. The boardwalk gets very noisey at night (that might not bother you). We did not want to be bothered by noise, so we were far from the boardwalk. The BC is also wonderful. Make sure you make a dining reservation for the Clam Bake and get some food at Beaches and Creme. The steakhouse is also VERY GOOD but takes two dining credits. We went there on our honeymoon and loved the food and atmosphere. The pool is the best on Dinsey property (in my opinion).

FYI the Disney Collection does not include Value Resorts. You will need to pay a $95 booking fee to make the ressie with one of these. They are as follows:

Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, Contemporary, Polynesian, Fort Wilderness, Carribbean Beach, Coronado Springs and Port Orleans.

We have a spent an Anniversary at the Boardwalk. If you can spare the points, definitely splurge on the one bedroom for the 2 of you! You'll have a King bed, that great Jacuzzi tub, a full size fridge to keep some wine and cheese in, and a balcony overlooking Crescent Lake (if you get a Boardwalk View). We weren't concerned about counter service as we kept breakfast fixings and snacks on hand, and Table service was great for dinners. Plenty of meal options and entertainment practically right outside the door.

Loved that trip.

We're going to BCV for our anniversary - I made adrs at Yachtsman, Cape May and LeCellier! We're going to use the Dining Plan, and relax - after we run the Half and Full marathon that is!!

(I wonder if the poster above meant a 1 Bedroom, I'm not sure why you would need a 2 bedroom for just you and dh - well for the anniversary trip anyway!! The studios dont have the jucuzzi tub, but the 1 bedroom does have a great, big jucuzzi tub right off the bedroom!! )

We spent our 25th Wedding Anniversary at BWV and loved it. We had our kids and grandchildren with us but in different rooms but we loved the BW in the evenings and being so close to MGM and Epcot. We had the Dining Plan and ate at LeCellier, Cape May, Big River, 50's Diner in that area. The Quiet Pools are nice for the adults. The 1 BR is very nice. I would recommend it.

I just noticed your post. I have been searching the boards trying to get info on the other Villas besides WL. My family and I stay at the WL every year. We have a large family...ages 14 through 3(twins). We usually go in a grand gathering with another family...same age children. Everyone has a buddy to hang out with.

I feel VERY comfortable giving the older ones some freedom and at the same time feel comfortable watching the younger ones by the pool area.

We are curious to try the Boadwalk or BCV...but I am nervous about watching the twins and 6 year old at their pools. Also from my knowledge it doesn't seem like the resorts Main Lobby is set up like the WL, and I would be nervous to let the older ones go by them selves to get snacks...game rooms etc.

Please some info about the Boadwalk and BCV.

It seems that the AKL is set up like the WL...Maybe I should look into that.

I am a huge fan of the WL. We go every year with our kids...and always think how nice it would have been to stay here before kids!

However, if I was going without my kids, I would stay at the GF or Polynesian.

You will ALWAYS be staying at a Villa with your children...but will probably NEVER want to waste that many points to get a suite in one of those deluxe resorts that would accomodate a family.
