Best DVC resort at Christmas - Opinions wanted Hello,

I know I'm going to get a lot of opinions which is exactly what I want. Which DVC resort is the best at Christmas - in terms of decorations, activities, proximity to other events, etc? Also does MVMCP go through the week before Christmas normally or does it end before then.

Thanks for your opinions.

I think my family would agree that VWL is the prettiest at Christmastime. All the DVC resorts are outstanding in creating the feel of Christmas.

I would agree that all are magical, but objectively I don't think VWL can be beaten. It is surely my favorite resort at Christmas time in terms of decoration and theming.

VWL hands down, but its really hard to get reservations there during that time of year.

Totally agree, VWL, no contest. BW would be second. The last date for MVMCP was Dec. 17

We spent 8 days during Christmas last year in a 2 bedroom. We were in absolute awe at the decorations. Seeing people decorate their rooms and balconies was also great! We also made the rounds to all the other resorts to see the decorations... still VWL was the best.

To me the best Resort for Christmas is the BWV.

To me the BWV's and the whole Epcot resort area feels like a old fashioned small town dressed up for Christmas. And from that town, you can walk over to Epcot and see how the rest of the World puts on a show for Christmas decorations....

Then hop in a boat and be in awe of the Osbourne lights.....

::::Sigh:::: Cant wait until next year.

I agree with going to VWL during Christmastime. However, we stayed there Nov. 14th '04 and it was already decorated, we were very happy!

In '03 the last MVMCP was on Friday Dec. 19th and this year it was Friday the 17th. We were hoping that the date would carry over, but it was the day of the week, and we missed the party this year because we arrived on the 18th.

BWV/BCV would be tied for my second choice because it's so easy to get to Epcot or MGM from them.

VWL, absolutely!! Coming from Wisconsin it's hard to feel like Christmas in Florida, but VWL made it happen.

VWL is the MOST Christmasy IMHO. We have lived in SW FL for 20+ yrs and the experience @VWL is close to the white Christmas feeling. Love the fireplace. Their tree is awesome.

we used to think VWL..........but we think it is the BW hands down........great decorations..........the boardwalk has a ton of stuff to do........you can walk to epcot to see the fireworks or boat there............and you ride a bike and visit some other resorts decorations............that is something you cant do at VWL...........plus it made collecting our Xmas DVC pins really easy...........but my wife remains very partial to the non DVC GF............the Gingerbread house was unreal...........

I am thinking of the BWVilla next Christmas - a two bedroom; paying cash for the weekend (Dec 30 & 31).

Does anyone know what the cash price would be per night? Also do you think there would be any chance that I could get a DCV cash discount for those nights?

I'm thinking of asking my cousin and her DH to spend the time with us; we'd get a 2 bedroom, I'd use my points for Dec 25th to the 29th and she could pay cash for the 30&31st. I would then pay the points for Jan 1st. If it came in around $700 or so, I figure it is well worth it as she'd be getting 7 nights in studio for $100 per night.

VWL hands down - it is attached to WL (which is the BEST) - so you got 2 great resorts very well decorated for Christmas!!!

Mary Anne you won't know until you try - however are you getting a new annual pass (with the DVC discount) - I think there might be annual pass discounts.

Of course if it is as popular as WDW says it is - there will be NO discounts offered then.

Another vote for VWL... we've got 2005 thanksgiving ressies. In 2006, we're planning to do BWV for x-mas. Glad to hear the positive comments about both of our home resorts. :D

Decorations don't make the trip for me - they are a nice add - but you can visit resorts and see the decorations.

I just want the resort and for me that's BWV - the action on the BW, the activities around Xmas and the proximity to Epcot.

But- that's me - it may not be for you!

Our family agrees that VWL is the best at Christmas time. We have been several times during the Christmas season and are now planning our trip for next year. We really missed being down there during Christmas this year. We did get to enjoy the Halloween activities, but really love the Christmas time better.

I vote for the Boardwalk. The lobby decorations are so wonderful, they took my breathe away the first time I saw them. I turned to my husband and said "I want to stay here next time." They are especially beautiful at night. :D

Best is very subjective. ::yes:: I think it really depends on what you are looking for. It sounds like all of the resorts have great decorations...and you can certainly visit any WDW resort to see decorations while you are there.

I don't really understand why VWL is thought of as the best Christmas resort (let it be known that I am not a huge fan...it's a nice place, though). Is it because of the lodge theming...fits in better with Christmas trees? Maybe it's the audience...so many of us are from up north where we're used to cold, snowy winters. So many of the other resorts have that light, tropical feeling.

Everyone has their favorites. It depends a lot more on location than anything else. Some want to be close to the action, others want a more peaceful, quiet setting.
