Best DVC for doing an Add-On????

I know I have seen threads in the past that compared Maintenance Fees between the resorts, but can't find it now. Taking into account the current price per point on the resale market and Maintenance Fees at each resort, which is currently the best DVC "deal" for adding on? We currently have points at AKV; and don't say to buy where you want to stay because we really aren't that hung up on which DVC we stay at, and want to stay at all of them over time.

I was just wondering that if we see a good deal on the resale market, for the right number of additional points, and a good use year for our normal vacation plans, where do we come out the best financially over the long haul based purely on CURRENT price and annual fees?

I would say your best bet for MF's, longevity, and resale price is going to be SSR. Contracts are good through 2054, resales prices are lower, and MF's are 4.21/pt.

Thanks for the link chalee.

Any ideas why SSR fees are that much less than AKV (which is newer, though not by that much)? You would guess the newer the resort, the less the cost of maintenance, at least for a while. (I understand with VBR and HHIR since you have the insurance for flood and hurricane thrown in.)

I'm guessing it is for the additional upkeep of the grounds (the savannas and the animals), or is it maybe because they are still in construction mode?

I was just asking the question from a purely hard dollars standpoint. Not overly concerned about getting locked out at WDW since we have points at AKV, and with current and soon to come inventory, I think the seven month window will still get you in somewhere (OKW or SSR at least) if that is your goal. Those other factors would definitely go into the final decision, though.

SSR is the largest DVC resort. This makes a difference in terms of dues in the same way our condo fees do - the more units with more people paying in to them, the overall cost of maintenance is reduced.

I also suspect that the AKV savannah/animals incur quite a bit of cost to keep up.

Friends of mine took the tour the beginning of May and were told of the possibility that AKV dues could rise at a faster rate because of the cost of veterinary care.
