Best Double Stroller?

I know there are a lot of stroller questions however I'm stumped and the search function isn't working. I need to know a good double stroller to take to WDW for our trip in Dec. I will have my 2 DD with me the oldest will be 1 mo. shy of 3yo and the youngest will be 1.5. I currently have the Graco Duoglide but I don't know if I should stick to that or get a new one? We will be staying at the Poly and with the chance that the Monorail won't be crowed I would like to get away with being able to keep them in the stroller (I know that won't always happen) I'm also not opposed to a side by side I just need input. Please help?

The key is lightweight, easy to fold and not bulky.

It's very hard to get some strollers on the monorail, train, buses, etc...

It also depends on how much you want to spend. Kolcraft has a double side-by-side for about $50 at Target. BUT it has no basket (you can buy netting bag that goes on the handles though).

I think the side-by-sides (umbrella) would work better and we have used the side-by-side umbrella stroller 3 times now and had no problems.

***edited to add: the Kolcraft side-by-side can fit in all doors at WDW AND can fit unfolded in the monorail IF you are lucky enough to get in the handicap section.

The conductor lead us to an empty handicap section more than once...but we never counted on it. We are always ready to fold up the stroller and then we are pleasantly surprised when he leads us to the handicap section!

I know that you asked about the best double stroller, but thought I'd throw another option at you.

We are taking our 3-1/2 yr old and 14 month old in July. I also have the Graco duoglider (front/back) which I use all the time at home. After going for some long walks around the neighborhood, I have decided to take two lightweight strollers instead. At first, I was only concerned about the bulkiness of the stroller (for trams, monorail, etc) but after pushing it around the neighborhood, I realized how HEAVY it is to push (we have a lot of hills by my house, so that doesn't help.). Between the weight of the stroller, 2 kids, diaper bags, etc, it takes a toll on your arms after a while (or maybe I'm just a weakling, lol!)

We decided on bringing a Maclaren stroller for our 3-1/2 yr old (folds up like an umbrella stroller) and are going to buy a $40-ish stroller for our one year old (lightweight but still reclines, canopy, basket, etc) I considered buying a lighter weight double, but couldn't justify spending money for another double since my daughter is already 3-1/2.

Just something else for you to consider!

I like the idea of two light weight strollers but I don't think that would work. We are bringing my mother with us as she has offered to take the girls back to Poly with her for naps or in the evening so that we can have some time alone. (Doesn't happen that much with two this young) The problem with two lightweight singles is she can't push them both where she can push a double. My girls are good and won't be a problem for her to take back to the room, (the older will stay with her if she does have to fold the stroller) as long as she can push them together. I'm so confused, I didn't think there would be so many options.

I would think a side by side would not fit very well on the monorail, but I'm not really sure. A small one, like a maclaren or peg aria twin or combi measures about 30"

Will the younger one stay still while the stroller is folded? If it has to be folded for a bus, let's say? I can see this being a problem for your mother alone with the 2 kids. Mainly getting back from the parks, not getting around the resorts.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe you shouldn't plan on your mother taking them back to the hotel alone for naps. It sounds like a great idea, but I know my mom would not have been able to handle my 2 1/2 year, the stroller & her (small) bag alone. She's young and healthy but not particularly strong. She did watch him a few afternoons & evenings though, which was wonderful.

And as for the doubles, I've been shopping and there aren't a whole lot of choices out there. For a lightweight front to back, there are almost no choices! It's pretty awful. We are considering the peg perego aria twin for everyday use. It's a side by side. We are also looking at the combi SBS and a graco SBS. But we need something for everyday, not just disneyworld. Baby #2 is due in less than a month! I'm so frustrated that I haven't bought anything yet! I'm planning to harness my toddler to the baby's stroller.

I would go with the Kolcraft, reclining Umbrella. We have used it three times in disney and it has worked out great for us!

One thing about bring a double on the monorail. Most of the times any type of double, either side by side or front to back, will need to be folded to get on the monorail. None of the side by sides will fit in any of the cars, with the exception of the couple handicapped cars. Obviously, those are reserved for people who need them, but you can use them in unoccupied. A front to back, is VERY difficult to manuever onto the monorail, due to it's length. Hey, I even have problems getting my single to roll on!! So, don't count on being to roll your double effortlessly onto the monorail as most times it will need to be folded. I also recommend against bring such a big bulky stroller, it will be a PAIN on the buses. I'd recommend buying either two singles and using the connectors, or buying a cheaper umbrella type stroller. The double I used was $300, and it was wonderful, but since you already have one, I don't know if you'd be interested. It was the Combi Twin Savvy and was GREAT!!!

I didn't use the monorial at WDW and don't use the one at DLR, but the Duo Glider fits on the tram without having to be holded up. It has to be in the isle on the car where the benches face eachother.

-- I love my Duo Glider. Unless I was going for 2 light wieght strollers (which *I* wouldn't do, but I certianly see the positives to it) I would stick to the Duo Glider.

Another vote for the DuoGlider. We've used a DuoGlider and a Kolcraft side by side and vowed we'd never use the side by side again because it was such a hassle to fold it for the monorail while people with front to back strollers just strolled right on. That alone made taking the slightly heavier and bulkier DuoGlider a must from then on.

We just used our Duo glider. I didn't want to risk them not being comfortable and I knew it would work. It fit fine everywhere, my DH and I took turns pushing. The parks are all pretty flat, so it wasn't a problem and they reclined well for naps.

The side by side are hard to manuever in restaurants and stuff and my kids aren't as comfortable in it.

Before our trip last year I read so many posts about how hard it is with a stroller on buses.
I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
How often are you on the buses? 2? maybe 4 times a day? You spend a lot more time walking around the parks than riding the buses.
We had a Jeep Wrangler umbrella stroller for my 2 year old last June. It worked fabulous and had no trouble boarding the monorails and let my daughter sit in it until it was time to board the bus, hop out and walk on with mommy while I fold the stroller and get on.
Next June we will be using our new Baby Trend Sit-and-Stand LS. This is a stroller that allows an older child to sit or stand behind the seat of the younger child. It is a little longer than a normal stroller but shorter than a double front to back. My 3 eyar old loves to sit in the back and watch the baby as we walk adn she can easily get in and out (if we dont have her buckled in). It folds up easily with one hand and cost $125 at Babies R Us.
Bottom line: I wouldn't sacrifice comfort and convenience of a stroller for walking around in the parks for something that may be a little smaller to help on the buses.
