Best double stroller - advice?

Our next trip to Disney we will be taking a 1 1/2 year old and a 4 year old.
For those of you that have taken a young child (3 or 4 yrs) did you bring a stroller for them?

She is never in a stroller now (and she's 2 1\2) I just worry about all the walking.

If you have taken a double stroller - what is the best in your opinion???

It is a lot of walking. Especially for a 4 year old. I would recommend renting a double while you are there if you do not own one. There are a lot of great companies that will deliver directly to your resort. Or you can rent from Disney World directly. The only thing I do not like about the strollers at WDW is the fact that they are hard plastic and cannot recline for naps. Which I know will be important with a 1 1/2 yr old.

Our children will be the same age as yours when we travel this year, 4 and 22 months. And we will def be bringing our double stroller. We use a Baby Jogger City Select, but only because that is the one we own. But if you do not already have a double, it would be much too pricey to buy just for a trip.

There are companies that will deliver right to the resort itself? That sounds like a great idea. We are going to purchase a sit n stand stroller but I was thinking that might be just too big to carry on and off the bus and I will def need something that reclines.

have you thought about 2 umbrellas? after much research we decided to go that way and get the clips that will make them into a double if one parent was not wanting to push for a little while.

We'll be taking our almost 4 year old and almost 2 year old. We are taking our Peg Perego P3 single stroller. It has a place for the 4 year old to stand on in the back. Our double stroller is too heavy and too much trouble to fold for the buses. With the single we can have them trade out if necessary.

That being said, we only plan to spend half days in the parks. We will be coming back to the room for a nap then will enjoy the pool until dinner. That's what we did when dd was 2. It worked well for us.

We have a Chicco Trevi Twin. Its a side by side umbrella style stroller. Both of the seats recline and there are storage baskets under both seats. I've used it 2 times at WDW, once for 7 day when our girls were 15 months and 2 1/2 years old and once for 12 days when they were 2 years and 3 1/2 years old. We've also used it for 2 DL trips. It works wonderfully and we never had any problems folding it up for the buses at WDW because it doesnt take up much room at all.

We just bought a sit and stand stroller by Baby Trend. It is pretty light and very comfortable. Babies R Us currently has a promotion for bringing in an previously used stroller, car seat, high chair, etc. and give you a 25% off coupon towards a purchase of a new. Their website has the details on the brands. I believe the promotion is good through the end of the month. We just bought ours this weekend.

Our double isn't for everyone, but I LOVE it. Especially for things like theme parks. We have a Chariot Cougar double, it's a bike trailer, but we use the stroller kit, so it has 2 small wheels underneath the front. you can but a jogging kit, but the wheel sticks way out and is stationary, so we use the stroller kit for, well, using it as a stroller. What I love about it is that the inside is basically a large square, and doesn't have bucket seats like a lot of other strollers. We have put 5 kids in it, actually (8 and under, one on a lap), and everyone was reasonably comfortable. Also, since it's a big open square, we have put blankets in the foot well, and our toddlers have napped in it like it's a real bed. It pushes incredibly smooth and turns on a dime.

The main problems with it is that it takes more time to fold up than other strollers, and it takes up a lot of room. To fold it you have to take off all 4 wheels, and then it folds flat. If you are getting in and out of the car a lot, it's a bit much. But if you are spending all day at a park, it's not a problem at all. when we go to Disneyland or Disney World we just keep it open all the time. It fits on the DW monorail (not the Disneyland one), so you can just roll it right in, or we can just walk straight to our room. So, for us, the folding it not an issue at all.

It also comes with a rain shield a sun shield and a bug shield. There are nets on the inside for holding the kids' drinks, and 2 pouches in the back that hold tons of stuff. Dh had to have it, and I was skeptical, but after our first trip with it I LOVED it. I still love it 5 years later.

On our first trip to Disney with the kids (they were 1 and 4 at the time) we used our Graco Duo Glider. Yes it is a little big but we had a car when we were there. They both spent quite a bit of time in it, my younger one napped in it everyday (and he was a BIG boy) and when my daughter fell asleep during the American Journey at Epcot we plopped her right in there and she slept for at least an hour.

I'm an overpacker and I loved having the huge basket to put all of our stuff in and the cupholders were always full. If we were going to explore an area of the park we would just park it and one of us would go back for it when we were done doing everything we wanted to do.

It is nice to have somewhere to put both kids while one parent waits in line for food or when leaving the park at the end of the day.

We've taken it on our other two trips when our kids were 3 & 5 and 5 & 7. They didn't do as much sitting as they got older but it was nice to have for the few times we needed it. And for all the stuff.

The first time we went our DS's were 4 and 6 months. We rented a sit and stand from Orlando Stroller rentals and it was perfect!!! Even those bigger kids that rarely ride in a stroller like a place to rest their feet for a bit They do deliver right to the resort and pick up right from the resort..you practically do nothing Loved it!!!

We have twins and opted to buy two Maclerans with the clips. While the clips are not ideal for long outings, they were perfect for when hubby or I would go off with our 4 year old and the other stayed with the girls.

The reason we went with (AND LOVED) the 2 Macs as opposed to a double:

-easy to carry when the little one is not in it. It's super lightweight and includes a shoulder strap that is comfortable to throw on your back with a toddler in your arms. Great for getting on buses, trains, etc.

-holds larger child. There were times our son would hop into it and we would just carry a baby.

I would skip the double. Our son has been walking the parks since he was 2.5. He gets tired as the day goes on, but there are always abandoned disney strollers by 3 as families leave the park.

We ordered a Joovy Caboose Stand on tandem stroller. We got it last week and started trying it out and I really like it.

Our girls are 2 and just turned 5. So, if we are in a hurry our older DD can just hop on so we can get to where we are going and we don't have to fight her or walk at a snails pace. If she gets tired she can sit on the seat which is more like a bench seat so she doesn't have to feel like a baby.

It is slightly heavy, but easier to deal with than our full size double. There is a lightweight version but, the extra $100 wasn't worth it to me. I plan on buying the rain/wind cover that totally covers the stroller (both front and back) they sell for it at Babies R Us, in case of a sudden downpour.

We are driving our van so we have plenty of room to bring it with us. I'm used to lugging our even heavier double so, to me it is no big deal. And we would have spent as much renting as just buying this one.

I would never go to WDW without a stroller for any child under 5. I'm sure some ppl. do it, but I can't imagine it. My dd was 3 1/2 on our last trip and while she never used a stroller at home by that age, she used it a lot at Disney. We'll be going again this Sept. She'll be 4 and we'll be bringing the stroller again. There's just no way I'd do it without one. There's A LOT of walking and honestly, I don't want our whole family to have to work around the 4 year olds schedule or pace. We don't usually go back for naps during the day (not that anyone naps now at home,) but we usually stay until park closing and we're usually there at rope drop. It's much easier to have a place for my dd to rest or even sleep if she wants to, while one parent can go on the rides with my older ds while one of us waits with dd resting. I also like having somewhere to contain her for when it's really busy, or at closing (busy and dark.) I don't have to worry about her getting lost or trampled on. I can just put her in the stroller and we're good to go. I'm not sure what the best double stroller would be. I'd probably be more inclined to get a double that's front/back as oppose to side to side, just because I think it'd be easier to fit in places.

We're renting from Orlando Stroller. I hate paying the money but we don't have room to lug our double stroller in our vehicle AND all of our luggage and I'll be a lot happier pushing one of their big jogging strollers than I would be our sit n'stand.

We have a BabyJogger City Classic double that we use. Its wonderful! Orlando stroller rental rents them as well.

We also have a Joovy Caboose Stand on stroller. I found mine on craigslist. Its really easy to fold.

We were just in WDW last month with DS (3.5) and DD (7 months) at the time of the trip. We had a Maclaren Twin, and it was perfect. It's a side by side double. DS loves sitting next to "his baby" in the stroller. DS doesn't generally use the stroller expect at WDW and Mall of America.

The Maclaren Twin has independant full recline for each seat. Works well for a baby to nap (and also for DS to nap if he wants). It also folds up like an umbrella stroller - so very easy on the bus.

It is not a great stroller for storage, doesn't have cup holders, or alot of the other bells and whistles. However, we travel light while at WDW, and jsut want an easy, functional stroller for kids to nap in and help us get from Point a to point b without carrying heavy, tired toddlers ourselves...

Another vote for the Maclaren twin. My hubby carried a sleeping 4-year old and the stroller out of the bus with no problem. It is pretty light for a twin. I like the independent recline, too. Great for naps!
