Best double stroller - advice?

I have gone several times with my young kids. The best way to go for me has been orlando stroller. I have a 6yr, 6yr, and a 2yr old. In May I plan on renting a double for my older ones. I know they are six but it's a lot of walking for kids I think. I will bring a lightweight stroller(Joovy Kooper) with me for my 2yr old just so I can push him through the airport. Otherwise I would rent his from there as well. The BabyJogger is a great stroller IMO and has good sun protection and more comfortable than park strollers.

We have the Fisher Price stand and ride and it was a lifesaver for us. We travelled with it on the plane 3 times with no problem. It is a very easy one hand fold, but I will say it takes up about 25% more room than an average stroller. My husband would usually place it by the back doors of the bus once everyone was on and stand with it. We had a 4 month old, 19 month old and 3 year old on one trip and managed just fine. We always take a carrier as well, since ours are soooooooo close together! :rotfl: For us, that stroller was worth every cent and we have used it constantly for 3 years and it still looks brand new. It is a very large basket and a huge collapsable storage/shopping bag built in. It was our homebase in the parks! It also has cupholders and a tray for both child and parents.

If you are going to buy a double anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to take it to Disney. The few minutes on the bus may be awkward, but the ease of touring the parks is definitely worth it. However, I must admit that on our next trip we are only taking one umbrella now that we have no babies (boohoo) and I am overjoyed! :lmao:

For those of you that are taking the strollers with you to the airports... You check them right? If you are doing ME do you just have that go to baggage claim so that you can get it to take with you to your hotel immediately? We are going to be arriving in Orlando at 11am and we are wanting to get out to the parks once we get to the hotel. I don't want to wait around for a couple of hours for the stroller to show up. I have never went with kids before.. (I was the kid :) ) So I'm a little lost on what the 'pros' do with young kids.

P.S. Mine will be 2 and 4 when we go.

We gate check our stroller so we have use of it in the airport. They tag it at the counter and you drop it at the door in the jetway just before you board the plane. You pick it up in the same spot upon arrival and away you go! When you reach the ME, they stow it underneath until you reach your resort.

We always gate check our stroller. It makes it much easier to get through the airports ect. I would gate check it; then you'll get it as soon as you step off the plane and when you get on the ME, the driver will put the stroller under the bus with the rest of the carry-on luggage, and you'll get it back when you arrive at your resort.

Thank you! I did not know that if you gate check it that you get it when you get right back off the plane... (I haven't flown since before 9/11 so I'm in for some serious research before I get to the airport)

I do plan on checking a bag and then rest is all carry-on things so I go to the counter for a tag for the bag and stroller and then leave the bag with them and then as we load onto the plane I will give them my stroller?

Yup, when you first arrive at the gate go to the little desk near the gate and ask for a tag to put on your stroller that you will gate check. When it is time to board the plane, you take your stroller down the gateway and then leave it right outside of the door of the airplane. You will probably see some other strollers sitting there but if not just ask the cabin attendent. Somone will take it and put it in the cargo area of the airplane. When you get off the plane someone will have brought it up and placed it in the same spot. If it is not there, you may have to wait for it (try to send one parent on their way with the kids so your family is not blocking all the passengers getting off the plane. Don't leave the gate area without the stroller - it will not be where the checked luggage goes.

I love magicstrollers.com We have rented through them a couple of times now and they deliver to the hotel and pick up. they cost less than Orlando Stroller Rentals and are part of the owner's lockers.
We rented a double from them for our 8month old and 5 year old. it was the best $100 spent for week. The City Mini was so easy to use, folded up nicely, light weight. I highly recommend them.

I get the tag from the gate counter (where we are actually boarding the plane) not where I would be checking baggage earlier in the airport... Is this correct? Thank you so much for helping :)

Yes, that's right. You check your luggage, get your boarding passes, go through security, and go to your gate. At the counter by your gate, you ask for a stroller tag, and they put it on the stroller and remind you to leave it at the end of the jetway before you board.

We've only had a problem once in about 20+ trips with strollers - on our trip to Las Vegas, they forgot to put the stroller on the plane. They got it on the next one and delivered it to our hotel later that night.

Thank you so much!! This trip is going to be a huge culture shock!! Hoping to learn enough so that I don't have any surprises :surfweb:

We're bringing our Joovy Ergo Caboose. I like it a lot better than a side-by-side for crowds.

Lots of walking. To save you sanity either rent a stroller at the park, or I once took a side by side that was like an umbrella stroller. You could also try the umbrella strollers with a conector. I think they sell them at babies r us.

Have a magical time!!!

We went last year with a 1 & 2 year old. We have a Combi Sport Twin which we really like. It fully reclines so the babies can sleep right in the stroller. (we also have a 10 & 13 year old) We always gate check it at the airport. With the price of rentals you can often buy a stroller cheaper than you can rent (at the park) they are more comfortable, and you have it for the airport.

We use the Duo Double Tandem Stroller that we recently bought from aBaby.com and Disney Land was precisely the reason we also went in for a double stroller. There is ample to walk, be sure of it and a stroller is the best option. It has an in line stadium seating features which enhances visibility and interaction of the child sitting at the back.

We had a tandem. As soon as my son (the younger of the 2) was able to sit up he hated being in the back, and no way was the 2 year old sitting in the back...lol. We switched to a side by side.
