We're driving down to Disney this weekend for our first family trip. As it happens Carolina (Go Hurricanes!) is in the Eastern Conference finals next week. We will be at MK (staying in Kissimmee) on Monday for game 1 and Epcot (AKV) for game 2. Where should we go to watch part of the games? They are on the Versus network, which means probably not available in the hotel rooms (right?). Any suggestions for places at DTD or other local establishments? Is there a Disney Wide World of Sports bar?

The ESPN Club on the Boardwalk.

TGI Friday's Front Row Orlando
8126 International Dr.
Orlando, FL 32189
Tel (407) 363-1414

ita with Michael re ESPN Club; probably best bet onsite.

You may also want to check with House of Blues & Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney. At Disney's Wide World of Sports there was All Star Cafe but I'm not really sure if it's still there ?....been a few years since we've been over that way. EDITED TO ADD : well it seems that All Star Cafe is still alive & kicking (at least as of March 2009) - here's link to their menu from
allears.net; not sure how late into evening it stays open but it may be another possibility.

Good luck :goodvibes

Thx y'all. I know this sounds like sacrilege, but is there any place/restaurant in the Magic Kingdom that has satellite sports?

idk, not that I can think of off top of my head. Closest that might be a possibility could perhaps be at Contemporary Resort - there's Outer Rim bar on 4th floor concourse level & Wave restaurant on lobby level has bar area as well; don't really know if they've got tv - maybe if you call Disney Dining number they can tell you or stop off at CR on your way to MK & ask.

Go Blackhawks, they are in the conference finals also. My vote is for ESPN on Boardwalk, great place to watch a sporting event.

ESPN is a good place to watch. We were down last year and there were a lot of hockey fans. It was a great evening.

Orlando Ale House also has a lot of tv screens and will switch some to hockey if asked. Likely with the playoffs in full swing there may be some tuned to hockey anyway.

Versus is available at Vero. For some reason the Vero tv stations (probably because not 'on property' are a better mix for those not wanting 24/7 Disney advertising !

You'd think it (hockey on TV) would be mandatory at Le Cellier.. ;)

Hey...this Pens fan will be there too. ;) :) at AKV.

Maybe we can get them to put it on the lobby tv and hang out and watch with a little friendly rivalry. :rotfl::rotfl:

What an awesome series they had with the Caps:worship:

Sid the kid vs the gutty Russian...........hard to ask for more than what that series provided!

Go Pens, sorry you have to rough it at Disney and watch the Cup:rotfl2:

Gotta love playoff hockey:dance3:

Enjoy your trip!

Ah, Gee-I wish this question had come up a couple weeks ago. I know that the DVC rooms don't get Versus. When we were at OKW Gurgling Suitcase, the bartender was explaining to us why we couldn't get Versus (I think it was something about Disney owning ESPN so only ESPN related sports networks were on). Someone in the bar really wanted to access Versus. I think he said not the ESPN club (same reasons). That offsite place sounds goodor perhaps a non-Disney owned resturant on site(?)

Is there any way you'd consider forgoing the hockey and spending that valuable vacation time with the family? Maybe TiVo the game and watch when you get home?

Go Pens!
I just asked this question on the resort boards! I checked online on NBC and VS, and it doesn't look like they will have a webcast either! We are there for the Cup, not the playoffs, and my DH is trying to control his disappointment.:happytv:
Like I said in the other thread, in Feb when I booked this trip, we didn't think the Pens had a hockey pucks chance of making the finals, so we weren't worried!
AWESOME comeback!
GO PENS!!

It's the Stanley Cup playoffs, Conference Finals.
Tivo the game? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Today's Wings-Hawks game is on NBC. GO WINGS

It's tough to find Versus, but ESPN may have NHL Center Ice package.

My DH would understand(I've carted a radio to listen to the NASCAR final race at Homestead on various WDW trips, now if my fave had a chance to win the whole enchalada, he would be more than happy to drop me off at ESPN).

:scared1::scared1::scared1: tivo..no way! GO CANES!!!
I know we saw a game in April at the ESPN club, not sure what channel it was on. Good luck with that and let us know how it turns out, because if they keep doing well, we will be in the same boat in a few weeks!!!

GO CANES! OH AND WAS THAT A GREAT GOAL BY WALKER OR WHAT!!!:thumbsup2

We actually just got back from a trip to the World last week, and we watched Game 4 of Pens vs. Caps (Yeah Pens!!!!) at ESPN Club. It was on Versus so it's not a problem for them to broadcast even though it's a non-ABC owned station. There were a TON of Pens fans there, so great atmosphere for us. If you do choose to go there, I would recommend getting there at least an hour ahead of the game to get a good table. Ask the bartender if they'll be showing the game on the big screen, otherwise position yourself in front of one of the smaller TV's that will have it on. We've watched several Steelers games there also, and it's always a good time. The servers are patient and don't mind that you're hanging out for a few hours.

We actually watched Game 6 of the series at Buffalo Wild Wings, which is in the Crossroads shopping center right near DTD, so that's another option that hadn't yet been mentioned....

I just have to say GO CANES! Yeah, I'm still a little bitter.
