Hi all! My fiance and I are planning our Disney World honeymoon for the end of August 2019. We can't really seem to decide on which villa to stay at for our honeymoon! Grand Floridian has always been a dream of mine since I was little, but I'm not sure my fiance wants to spend that much :upsidedow. He wants to do Copper Creek studio, but I've stayed at WL a few years back and wanted to do something different. We'll be doing a day in each park, with a one day "resort rest day," so staying close to any particular park doesn't hold a distinct advantage for us. Thanks for any advice!

Bay Lake Tower theme park view. I've stayed in this room a couple times and it's definitely my favorite room on property. You can watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom from your balcony, the TV has a channel for the music. It's really a magic spot and nice not to have to fight crowds. You can walk to Magic Kingdom which is really convenient and it's one monorail stop to get to TTC to get over to Epcot.

I have observed some pretty nice weddings and honeymooners at the GF. If the pocketbook allows and time is on your side for availability and pricing...I would stay here. Lots of different types of room at GF. Or pick club level in the main building. Otherwise, just write down what you want and do and price the deluxe resorts. Consider some that makes it unique and memorable. Maybe its the room and/or food. Or maybe a set of activities, spa, special dining, club level or combination of things. I also thought Disney might have special honeymoon services providing their unique magic. Overall, have fun in your planning and your new life adventure.

CCV is lovely, but if you've stayed at WL and want to try something different, I get it!

IMHO, all the deluxe studios have their advantages. If you liked WL, you might want to consider AKL. The theming is gorgeous, it's a quieter resort with great pools and great restaurants. I think it's quite romantic.

You could consider Poly, again, for beautiful theming, but if the price tag at VGF is too high for your future DH, they may not be a possibility.

BWV, IMHO, is also very romantic. We love the theming and strolling on the Boardwalk. Plus there are a ton of great restaurants within walking distance.

It may depend on how you are obtaining your villa. If you have DVC points of your own, you book your home resort at 11 months out and then see what is available at seven months out. If you are renting points, book at 11 months out and see if GFV would be possible. BLT is kind of tiny, but with only two of you it should work. SSR has a great spa (if you are into that for the honeymoon) and is a quick walk to Disney Spring (or bus or boat ride, too). BCV or BWV would be nice for easy access to Epcot and DHS. If you are paying cash to Disney Reservation Center, you just have to see what they have available about five to seven months out.

Thanks everyone! We're planning on renting DVC, or paying regular hotel rates if we can find a really good price. Ideally we'd like to stay under $2,000 for the room for 6 nights, and Poly and GF are right around the $2,200 rates so I have to do some convincing if I want to stay there

DH and I honeymooned at GF almost 28 years ago :) . We didn't have an unlimited budget either, but stayed in one of the upper rooms in the Boca Chica building. Honestly: totally worth it. I will never forget walking into that resort.

We are now DVC and stayed in one of the villas for our 25th anniversary, which was very cool.

Keep in mind it was 25 years before we stayed at GF again! Life, kids, etc. can get in the way of a splurge like this.

You only get one honeymoon. If you can swing the extra money somehow, I'd say go for it.

We did a lot of research on the villas before we chose our resort for our honeymoon. The Garden Cottages looked so adorable and I loved that they were 2 levels with lots of space - sadly, outside out budget. We also looked at GF Standard View ( a lot of these had a monorail view which appealed ) - it was quite a bit lower than the Garden Cottage. We landed on the AKL Jambo House Studio Standard View. We had to pay regular rate as renting DVC wasn't an option for that resort due to availability when we tried to book. What sold us on this resort is that it was more removed from the rest of the Disney areas and we had read reviews about it being quiet. For us, that really appealed.

It was a hard decision, I spent lots of time on YouTube checking out current videos on the rooms and the resort.

Happy Planning and Congrats!

Having stayed in every DVC villa, go for GFV. They are wonderful, I don't think you will regret the extra $200 to stay there. If you can't get your fiance to go for it then I would try BWV with a BW view or AKL Savannah view.
