Hello,
What are the best Deluxe resort for boys age 6 and 7? We love the whimsical feel of the Values. We would like to up grade to a deluxe our next trip and be close to Magic Kingdom and Epcot TIA

Do they like to swim? If so, Beach/Yacht Club have the best pool. I'd choose Beach over Yacht.

As far as being close to Magic Kingdom, you really can't go wrong with any of the monorail resorts. Our current favorite is the Grand Floridian. If you are going in the summer, they have tons of daily activities for kids at the resort. We used to love the Poly, but this was pre all of the construction. I haven't been back since 2013, so can't recommend what it's like now. I will say it's super easy to get to Epcot from the Poly bc you walk to the TTC and then hop on the monorail to Epcot. If you are going and all construction is going to be completed at the Poly, I bet your boys would love it. I would avoid Wilderness Lodge because it's going to have major construction beginning in the fall.

Thank you! Yes they love to swim. We are going for Halloween in 2017. I am already planning :). The Grand Floridian is my dream resort! We will be staying there also we are doing a split stay. I just figured I need to find a resort a little more kid friendly than the GF. Thank you for the suggestions, I will look at Poly I'm not to familiar with that resort.

I would choose a MK area resort. The Poly is a good choice with monorail access to both the MK and to Epcot. (When are you going, though? The east pool is still under construction until early 2016, I believe.) usually this would be my first recommendation for anyone with young children the age of your boys. It is still a good choice as long as you won't be bothered by (or staying during) the construction. The Poly is amazing!

Another good choice is the CR, especially the tower with a Theme Park view. Great hotel with everything under the one roof. Children (and adults) like that the monorail goes right through the building! It is a short walk to the MK, which is very nice at the end of the day when line ups for transportation are long. The views from your balcony are amazing at the CR, especially with TPV.
Some people do not like the perceived lack of theming at the CR.We feel that the convenience and comfort are well worth any reduction in 'theming'. However, we actually like the retro futuristic theme of the Tomorrow Land based CR.

Good luck choosing!

I also would recommend the Poly... It is the best resort for being close to both MK and Epcot because you are one boat stop or 2 monorail stops from MK and 1 monorail away with a short (about 5 min) walk to the TTC instead of with a transfer like the other monorail resorts.

I get a much more laid back feeling at the Poly than I do at the GF and I would think your boys would love the pool area, beach area with movie, seeing Wishes from the beach, and the theming in addition to being close to both MK and Epcot.

If it's summer, we prefer Beach Club for the pool. There's also a lot of activities at any of the deluxe resorts for that age range from pool games to movies under the stars - check the schedules and enjoy Disney as a resort rather than just theme parks.

Thank you all for the feedback!! I the Polynesian looks like a great choice and I like you can see MK wishes from the beach. That is awesome!

I think a split stay between the GF and the Poly is perfect. I will say that the GF is laid back and it's very kid friendly. Kids running around, people dressed casually, lots of kids activities. Just FYI! Our daughter loves it!

We're big fans of the grand Floridian, having stayed there twice. The slide at the pool is amazing, and our kids loved every second and aspect of their stay there. This year, we're trying something new, the Contemporary. I'm hoping my boys get into the tomorrowland vibe of the resort.

animal kingdom lodge.....pool is great and tons of activities for the kids if you hang around the hotel during the day.and animals everywhere

think your kids will be happy no matter where they stay. do they need a playground? the mk resorts on the monorail do not have one. there is one at WL but won't stay there until they are through with the latest upgrade (think it is 2017 or 2018), Now FW has several and from CR/BLT it is only a boat ride away

No one has mentioned WL, and to me, that is the most magical Disney resort. The whole ambiance of the resort is mesmerizing -- from the jaw dropping lobby, to walking to/from the boat dock under the mossy tree covered pathways. You've got the geyser going off, you've got the EWP at night.

The WL is like a vacation within a vacation and I know that our girls LOVED it when we stayed there in 2012. (They were 8 and 6 at the time).

I agree with the Wilderness Lodge. My boys and 6 and 4 and love the bunk beds, the boat ride to MK, the splash pad, pool, and water slide. Whispering Canyons was a great dining experience for them as well. We had a bunk bed room, woods view, 6th floor and could see the fireworks over MK from our balcony each night.

Well, just so you know, my DD6 favorite resort is the GF :) But we also LOVE WL. It's the favorite of the rest of us. I think boys would like it even more. The WCC is a great place to eat, the lobby is amazing, the boat ride to the MK is the BEST, and my kids always do the hidden Mickey scavenger hunt.

YC/BC. Best pool and great restaurants. Also quick boat ride to the boardwalk and Epcot.

We went to Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary last year with our 6 year old and loved it! Great pools with slides, a great quick service, access to the monorail and a 5 minute walk to Magic Kingdom. It was ultra convenient and we would go back there in a heartbeat

If you are planning to spend part of the trip at the GF, then I would recommend the Beach Club. Fun, huge pool, plus it's right next to Epcot and close to DHS. You can plan your MK days for the GF and your Epcot days for the Beach Club, and you won't be spending time on the buses.

We stayed at AKL and Poly when our boys were that age. They do not even remember those trips. They don't remember sitting on our balcony at AKL and watching the animals for hours. They loved it then, but don't remember it now. Good thing we took pictures.

My advice - stay where you want to stay. Save special resort trips for when they are older and can appreciate the quality.

I have two boys, ages 6&8. We've stayed at CR, Poly, WL, YC & BC. Their favorite by a mile is Beach Club. The pool is just SO much fun. We also love the ability with FP+ to breeze through Epcot and catch our favorites, then be on a bus to whatever our park of the day is by 10 am to use our FP+. I find BC to be the perfect mix of relaxed and upscale-- good for kids and parents!
