Best deals on car hire

Alex, I can't promise they have the lowest rates but here are two sites you can consider:

www.holidayautos.com and www.autosabroad.com

I know we have some earlier car hire threads with other companies recommended - it would be best to choose a company that is recommended rather than have problems out there.

Thanks Shirley :D
I tried them both, but didn't get much joy.
At the moment Bon Voyage are offering some good prices, so I might stick with them :D

alex,

Try a few,get the cheapest quote from those you have tried then ring holiday autos as they offer a price match.I booked through them and their initial quote for what I wanted was £615 I eventually got it for £460 by telling them your cheapest quote,as they generally knock about £10-15 off your cheapest one.

Sean.

Alex,
We booked our car on the recommendation of someone from this board.
Florida Car Hire, I am sure someone will post the link.
We hired a full size car for two weeks, all insurances included for £348

Lynda

I would also contact Ebookers, they had a pretty good deal last month and said they will price match.

Thanks everyone :D
Florida car hire were quoting £513 Lynda, which is a bit more than Bon voyage.
Sam, I couldn't get into the "directcarhire" link, and "choiceairholidays" are going to send me a e mail with a quote.
E bookers are only booking as far in advance as October Vernon.

I'll keep trying, but I'll probably end up booking with Bon Voyage, because the car hire must be booked to get the cheap flights.
It doesn't hurt to look though does it :p

try www.expedia.co.uk and follow the ad for holiday autos, they are doing 25% off normal rates if you book before 17th Dec.

Colin

PS. I have also found the cheapest quote elsewhere eg. Autosabroad, Airline Network etc and then phoned Holidayautos for a price match, they always match it and beat it by £5 to £10

To be honest I wouldn't bother booking more than a couple of month ahead, it's unlikely they will sell out the cars and it costs you money to pay that far ahead.

I still couldn't get in Sam - now it says I have to type in an ISP code:)
I tried Expedia Colin, and its too far ahead to book.
Do you think its cheaper to wait and book as the date draws near Vernon ?

Alex

Its not working for me either. don't click the link, try just typing it in, its def. the right address.

Sam

Have you thought about booking a fly-drive ticket rather than flight-only? We've found that this can work out the cheapest way to get car hire. In 2001 a compact grade car cost us £20 per week with a Virgin fly-drive, compared to the cost of flight-only. THis doesn't include insurance for the car, but it is possible to get this seperately.

Regards

Rob

Thanks Sam - I got in there at last :p and they're going to e mail me a quote.
I haven't looked into a flydrive package yet rob, but if you think it could work out cheaper, then I will - thanks :D
