I'd love to get out of the cold for a short WDW trip in January, but it would have to be a super low-budget trip. We also have a large family; dh and myself, and 5 kids ages 14, 6, 6, 2, and 3 months. I received a phone call today from a discount travel broker "Direct Reservations" and they offered us 3 nites at the Ramada Southgate near WDW and 2 nites in either Ft. Lauderdale or Daytona Beach for all 7 of us for $396.00. This would also include 2 WDW park tickets PER PERSON as long as we attend their little "90 minute tour". I've seen lots of time-share promotions offering great rates on the lodging, but do you know of any others that offer this much in the way of free WDW tickets? Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Sue,

My niece fell for this...

She ended up staying in a nightmare of a hotel, no A/C in JULY! She had a shark show her Westgate and literally had a terrible first trip to Disney. I was SOOOO angry at her for not checking with me first!

There are some really great timeshare deals, most of which will have you stay AT the resort they are pitching, which makes it more worth it than to be put up in some dive.

Check www.orlando4free.com.

How aggressive are they at the time share places here? I would love to do something like this, but don't want to deal with high pressure sales.

Try SkyAuction.com. You can get really good deals there. We stayed at Orange Lake Country Club in early Oct. We paid $351 for 7 nights in a two bedroom unit (sleeps 8, I think) 1 king, 2 queens, and pull out sofa. It was a really nice unit and NO timeshare presentation. If you need more details, let me know. I'm happy to help. If you want to sign up for Skyauction I would love to be able to send you a referral e-mail so I can get the $5 off our next trip.

Hi,
You might want to check the Holiday Inn Family Suites - they usually discount to $99 a night with free breakfast. Also, there's the Holiday Villas (holidayvillas.com) which are routinely $99 a night in the off season. I booked a 3 br condo for $99 a night. The best thing to do is to read these boards and sign up for mousesavers. Then you'll know where the discounts are.
Best of luck!

I 2nd the Skyauction recommendation. We just got back from 7 nights in a 2 bedroom villa. Paid $265(including tax) for the week. It had a king, 2 twins, and a sofa sleeper. No timeshare presentations!

Hello

I was wondering how you were able to get such a great deal and where exactly you stayed??

Thank you

Hi Mandamom
Go to skyauction.com. This is a hotel bidding site similar to Priceline, but better in my opinion because you can pick where you want to stay. Narrow your search by USA, Florida, and then hotel only. All of the auctions they have going on will be listed. I found the best value to be the "ready, set, go" auctions. When you find one, there is a link in the auction that will show you what properties are available for the dates you want. When you are bidding, you can put a temporary hold on the property you want. Most of these auctions are won in the $50 range, but then you have to add on another $210 in fees to Skyauction.
We stayed at the Florida Vacation Villas. There were other properties that looked much nicer(like Orange Lake) on Skyauction, but unfortunately, by the time I won, the others were gone for the week I needed. This property was on Poinciana off of 192. It was huge and clean. A 2 story with a full kitchen, dining room, 1/2 bath and living room(sofa sleeper) downstairs and 2 bedrooms and baths upstairs. There were 3 tvs. the appliances looked fairly new. The bathrooms could have used a little updating, but they were fine. I was not planning on being at out hotel much anyhow, just wanted a kitchen and a separate bedroom from my tv watching husband(I cant sleep with a tv on)and this worked out great. You don't get maid service, but can get clean towels during the week.
I did not have this problem myself, but I have heard that if you can't find a property for the week you want, that Skyauction will refund your money. So, in that way it is better than Priceline, too.
I rented during October, so this was probably an off season. You may have to pay a little more if you are going during peak times.
If you have any other questions- I am at sln88@yahoo.com
Good luck!
