Yeah, that walk in July was not fun, but it's so convenient!

So...I may need this. I never buy the special MBs, but that one may be needed.

This is the first MB I have bought. It's mostly white with some blue and R2 and Leia are on it, my two FAVORITE characters in SW so I had to have it. I even bought a backup because it's white and I would hate for it to get icky over the next year or so. Haha. I'm such a sucker!

We were wondering whether to take the ferry or walk to DHS, but decided to walk, because well, there was no ferry in sight and we were eager to get to the park! Although despite our eagerness, the walk to DHS is much much longer than the walk to Epcot so be prepared for that.

Ugh it was so long! Maybe first thing in the morning I might've been able to do it, but I was not happy when we walked there.

However they wouldn't let me get on line with my coffee so I had to chug it really quickly!

We accidentally snuck drinks into a few place we shouldn't have because no one ever told us to throw them out We got all the way on FoP and no one told us to throw out our drinks. We put them with our bags and when we got off they were like "how did you get these in here?" and we told them no one said anything in any of the other rooms so we thought they were allowed.

We then met another character who was a first for us, Olaf!! I don't know why it took us so long to meet Olaf but I guess his line was always too long and for us not worth the wait, but today his line was only 15 minutes.

I always miss this meet and greet but it looks so cute.

Today was May the 4th also known as STAR WARS Day! For any Star Wars Fan, it's your chance to geek out a bit and head to Hollywood Studios wearing Star Wars gear, ride Star Tours, buy limited edition merchandise, and watch Star Wars fireworks.

May the 4th be with you To say my crew was excited for this day was an understatement. Casey wore her darth vader dress to school and was very upset to see no other kids in star wars gear. Guess she is ahead of her time and needed to be in MGM with you

I wore my Star Wars headband for the first time. I bought it at NY Comic Con about 2 years ago and never wore it so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. It kept sliding off my head though. I don't have the head shape for headbands or Mickey Ears I realize...

Fit or not, this looks great!

This stuff is awesome. I'll have to look online and see if I can find something second hand. Jason would love that water bottle. Will have to get him down there for May sometime.

I was a bit behind, so first - thank you for the Pandora preview! Very cool to see your experience, as I've been lurking the info thread about it, but prefer to read those firsthand TR experiences.

Hi Dugette!! You're welcome! It was really awesome to see Pandora. I'm very interested to see it at night. It looks really cool.
You can also purchase these Navi' light up staffs...they are very long and large, almost like a hiking cane, but with an illuminating end. It's supposed to interact with parts of pandora. It also has a black light in it so you can make stuff glow in Pandora. We saw a local buy one. It's definitely not something easy to carry though it you're from out of state unless you had a car, but it would be annoying on a plane. It was pretty cool to see one though!

Nobody was a fan until about 2 months ago, when Ricky spent the weekend at his friends house in NJ. His friend has been trying to get Ricky to watch the SW movies for years and Ricky never would lol, but this particular weekend it rained like crazy so they couldn't go outside like they usually do. He finally agreed and they watched the first 2! He's watched a couple more since he's been home and has requested seeing some of the SW stuff at HS in August That's kind of why Steve and I walked through Launch Bay last month even though we had no idea what the majority of the stuff was, but I wanted to take some pictures for Ricky!

May the 4th: Part 2 - Prime Time Dining

DH had a former co-worker, J, who recently moved down to Orlando from NYC, join us for lunch. She had APs as well which made it super convenient. I switched from our original lunch at Sci Fi Dine On to 50s Prime Time Diner so we could sit and chat instead of stare at a screen through lunch. It turned out to be a really good decision as we had a great time.

As we waited for J to arrive and park her car, we went to One Man's Dream and watched the PoC preview. It looked better than the previous pirate sequels (it was), so there's hope for the franchise after all. Here's some movie memorabilia including Captain Salazar's outfit and Poseidon's Trident:

When J arrived at DHS we met up at 50s Prime Time. I haven't eaten here for a few years but I do like the food here, some of the best at DHS - but then again there really aren't that many choices. J is a super-sweet former co-worker of Steve's. She moved down to Orlando from NYC earlier this year to be near her daughter and grand kids so she's getting used to Florida, but lucky for her, WDW and Universal are in her backyard. As we waited for our table, we sat in the lounge and just chatted about our families and NYC. J also makes the best flan I've ever had so she's gonna make some flan and meet up with us on another trip later this year, yum!

When we got buzzed, we headed into the restaurant and were seated. I think we waited about 15 minutes for a table. It was pretty busy inside the bar/lounge as people were escaping the heat but the restaurant wasn't too bad.

We decided to get some drinks to start so DH and I shared a Mowie Wowie and J got one for herself too.
Mowie Wowie - Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Melon Liqueur, Peach Schnapps, Orange Juice, and Pineapple Juice

The drink was fun and tropical and just what we were looking for on a warm afternoon.

Here's J being informed by our server on what was good to order. He also told her to leave her elbows off the table.

For entrees, J and I both got the Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes - Crispy-fried Chicken, Fork Tender Pot Roast, and Traditional Meatloaf with all the fixings

This dish is just as good as it sounds. I have gotten this before and always enjoyed it but it was just exceptionally good today. The piece of fried chicken was awesome, juicy and crisp, the pot roast was flavorful and tender, the green beans and mashed potatoes were good, and meatloaf which was probably my least favorite of the bunch was still really good, a winning combination!! I definitely like getting the sampler just to get a variety of things on a plate and it was the right portion size and I ate everything! I was hungry before as I didn't have much to eat aside from a frozen banana that morning but when we left I was full but not overly stuffed.

It was great, of course! Can't go wrong with a plate full of tasty fried chicken!

For dessert we were all full so we split a cheesecake. It was surprisingly good, I guess we weren't expecting much. Sorry I don't seem to have a picture of it right now but I'll see if I took one and post it later.

The service was the usual 50's Prime Time - slightly overbearing, but not too intrusive. Lots of "elbows off the table" and "finish your veggies" (I did!) were said. Overall it was fine and not overwhelming. The food was the standout and I'm glad we were able to switch to 50's so we were able to get some good food and chat throughout the meal.

After lunch it was getting close to the lull of 3pm which seemed like a good time to head back to the resort for a relaxing afternoon by the pool. But first we grabbed a bunch of PP pics with J. It's great we all have Memory Maker!

We said our goodbyes and parted ways. Until we meet again later this year J! We managed to jump onto the next ferry back to the Boardwalk, thankfully the boats were not that crowded at this time.

Back at the Boardwalk, I went to the front desk and had them activate my new Magic Band so I could wear it. You can do this in the store where you purchased it too but since there was a a line behind me when buying it I chose to activate it later. I really love this band. The face is white which I've not seen before and it has R2D2 and Princess Leia. It's perfect!

I'm kinda scared about keeping it clean though. It's so...white! So I did actually buy a back-up band in case. Because I'm a sucker and that's how Disney gets you...


We got changed and went to the main pool, the one with the freaky clown slide. What we didn't realize was how noisy the pool was - it was packed too. I guess I should have looked outside our window but really we weren't expecting it to be that crowded. We couldn't really find lounge chairs so we had to sit under some umbrellas at a table.

I thought there has got to be another pool, like a quiet pool somewhere on the resort, so we decided to leave and explore a bit. Our exploration took us through some beautiful areas of the Boardwalk. There were these gorgeous Villas with manicured gardens, and areas inside which looked like stately mansions. It was also much more quiet as you walked away from the clown pool.

Finally we found the quiet pool. It was like night and day. It was in fact, so quiet here, it was eerie.

But hey, that worked for me. So we were able to lounge around and swim in peace and quiet! It was a much needed rest after our jam-packed previous day and this morning's May the 4th. Let's hope the weather holds up for the rest of the day...they were predicting some thunderstorms. Oh no!

That's good news! Nathan loves the PoC movies, but I stopped watching them somewhere around halfway into #3. We decided we'd watch them all in order before our trip this summer as part of our movie-watching prep (which will also include Avatar since I haven't seen it since it came out, and a few Disney classics.)

Your dinner at 50s looked so good!! I've still never been here, surprisingly enough. We always used to book Sci Fi instead, and now we just don't spend a ton of time in DHS and often get QS if we do, or I go to Brown Derby for the cobb salad. Maybe on another trip sometime soon...

Your SW magic band is so great!

I think that's the same server we had last time we went to 50s Prime Time. I love the fresh sustainable fish of the day. The sauce and the sweet potato hash are really good. Looks like fun. BWI is really pretty. We have only been in the convention part.

Woo Hoo - This is an awesome trip report! Also thanks for the preview of Pandora. I've not seen the movie, and couldn't have really cared less about Pandora world, but you've made a believer out of me, and I can't wait to experience it when we go next April! That's great that you were able to meet up with J. Can you imagine living in Orlando?! I think I'd be in a park every weekend!

I haven't eaten at 50's Prime Time in about 12 years. HS is a one day park for us. My husband loves Mama Melrose and when we've been with the grandkids, they enjoy Hollywood & Vine for the characters or Sci-Fi Drive In. Hence, 50's Prime Time gets vetoed. We need to get back there as your meals look fantastic!

In our 4 stays at the BW we've never found that area you did or the little cottages! I don't even know if we've ever walked by the quiet pool?? I knew it was there but I think we only even used the clown pool on two of our visits.

Funny I never saw the 3rd installment of PoTC until last week and it was weird. And bad. Steve hadn't seen it either and he didn't see the last one which I assured him wasn't quite as strange as 3, so I'm going to watch that with him soon and we need to go see the new one because the preview was great!

Love your Star Wars dress! I am super excited to meet BB8 on our next trip to DHS. When you went for the dessert party, was there enough time to meet characters too? It looks like we should be able to get in ahead of the 8:15 listed time.

I honestly don't think I've ever been to the 50s Prime Time Cafe. I have heard that they can make the meatloaf GF though, so it is definitely on my list to try out soon!
