Thought this might be a helpful thread. We'll all be buying things at some point.

Two companies I've had exceptional customer service with were Amazon and Dell.

With Amazon there was a discrepency about an available $50 rebate they were offering - it didn't come up when I placed my order. The customer service rep took several steps to make sure I got it: she assured me I'd get it, but just in case there was a problem, she left a note in my account saying I should. She then followed up with several emails. Also extremely pleasant. :thumbsup2

Dell was awesome recently. I bought a lens from them at a great price (on sale, plus AAA discount and free shipping) and within a week of it's arrival, a piece came off of it. I called them and they shipped me out a new lens overnight and told me to send the other one back when I got it, no charge. She also called me twice and followed up with emails. Again, very pleasant. :thumbsup2 (Had I not sent it back within 10 days they would have charged me for it, for anyone wondering.)

What companies are your favorite to deal with, and why?

I recently rented a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens from Camera Lens Rentals. About a week before it was due to ship, I changed my mind and wanted the 100-400 mm IS lens instead. When the lens arrived, they had inadvertently sent me the 70-200. I dropped them an email notifying them of the error. Within a few minutes, my work phone rang. They tracked down my work telephone number (I never gave it to them), told me they would overnight me the correct lens, and they added a few extra days on the rental. A great job by Barry and his staff!

If any fellow newbie photographers want to try out a lens before plunking down big bucks for it, I would recommend Camera Lens Rentals highly!

I'm hooked on the L series lens, and am looking to purchase one now!

i haven't really shopped there that much but i got my computer from circuit city..the price was great( 200+ less than anywhere else) it went on even lower the second week after i got it , they refunded the difference within a few days with no problem whatsoever ( was the week end so it took that long to process back to my account) and have sent me tons of coupons for more money off stuff( i got new $99 speakers, marked down to 29 then another $10 off with one of the coupons and used 20 of the lowered price refund for the rest,so free in other words:lmao: ) their red dot deals can be good and the customer service was nice, friendly and helpful. and most stuff yu can pick up and save shipping
i've also been dealing with campus tech and while my lightroom is who knows where, the csrs i have spoken to have been nice and tried to figure out what is going on with it so i would buy from there again.
adorama is nice as well once you get past the "brisk new york attitude". forget what i bought there the time i called them but i had to change it or something and they were good about it. the guy even actually laughed once:rotfl:
in general though i think you need to call and forget emailing no matter who you go to . they never seem to respond to emails all that promptly

Best Buy!

At least if you buy the Product Replacement Plan.

My DD bought an iPod 2 years ago with her own money. I encouraged her to buy the 2 yr PRP. Sure enough after a year and a half the iPod went kaput! She got back full purchase price she paid. It was even a check made out to her, should she choose to buy something else. We went back to Best Buy and she got another iPod. The bonus was she went from a 1st generation to a 3rd generation and it was still cheaper! She was able to double the storage capacity and still rebuy the PRP!

We also had a similar experience like that with a portable DVD player!

Now, I always, always, always buy the PRP!!!

My kudos go to www.mpix.com. Great prints and excellent customer service. Once or twice a print has been missing from one of my larger orders. I emailed them about it and a print was in the mail the same day. I got it within 24 hours. :)

Microsoft, sent my son a BRAND NEW 360 when he got the red ring of death on his two year old system and they through in a game too.

Sure the 360 might be considered "defective" by some, but MS is standing by their product.
