Hi folks - I'm sure I read here there is some particular benefit to using the Post Office card - am I right?

Anyone got any other recommendations (I've already sorted fairfx) of what would be a good choice?

Thanks. :thumbsup2

Post Office and Abbey National Zero credit cards don't load the exchange rate when used for foreign transactions. Other credit cards will load by up to 3%.

Nationwide credit card used to be fee-free too but are now passing the Visa charge of 1% on when used in certain countries. America is one of them but the card is still fee-free in Europe.

Beware that the Abbey National will charge a dormant fee if the card is inactive so use it every now and again.

According to the Nationwide web site, the fee is 0.84% which is not actually that bad really

Cool thanks. I've gone ahead and ordered the Post Office one and will see how I get on with that. With my fairfx card and Honeymoon registry, I'm hoping I won't need to use it too much!! :rotfl2:

Goes up 1st July Joh to 1%. Still better than many cards but after many years of using Nationwide I changed a few month back to Post Office, free for now. Kept Nationwide as a back up card.

• Until 30 June 2009: the charge is 0.84% of the transaction amount
• From 1 July 2009 onwards: the charge is 1% of the transaction amount

Thanks for the clarification Wayne - will make sure I pay the rest of my cruise off before 1st July then ;)
