Hi,

I posted a message about sit-downs restaurants and also wanted to know about counter meals. Here is the info about us. We are going in 3 weeks to DL for 6 days. We go every year to WDW but haven't been to DL in about 6 or so years. I don't really know anything about where to eat and wanted to know where are the best or funnest or coolest places to go. Any suggestions would be great!

Whitewater Snacks in the GCH is our favorite. It is quiet, uncrowded, and we like the food. It is easy to get to from DCA. Just use the exit near the Rapids ride to enter the hotel property, then turn left and there it is. It is not open past 6 or 7pm though, so we go for lunch.

We also saw the famous Disneyland kitties there, if that's of any interest to you. :rotfl:

Another favorite of mine is Bengal BBQ. I love the Banyan skewer along with a veggie skewer. :lovestruc The tables are always full so we go out of Adventureland and around the corner to the right to some tables there.

We are huge fans of the gumbo in a sourdough breadbowl at Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square. Don't go at a typical meal-time though, looooong lines. They have vegetarian gumbo as well as steak gumbo. We've only had the former, but my brother and his wife were big fans of the latter. It's a bit salty, so make sure you have water.

We also like the vegetarian chili in a breadbowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA!

Tomorrowland Terrace has a great breakfast platter...a couple of them even include a beverage.

We like Pacific Wharf Cafe, Taste Pilots Grill, Riverbelle Terrace and Bengal BBQ just to name a few.

Another vote for the gumbo in a bread bowl in New Orleans Square!

For counter service breakfast, I like Tomorrowland Terrace. You can get a full breakfast + drink (coffee, milk) for around $8. Plus, they have the Jedi Training Academy stage show, if you have kids with you.

Riverbell Terrace has a great bbq pork sandwich. It comes with beans and a choice of a cold side.

We also tried White Water Snacks for the 1st time last week for lunch.
OMGosh- it was great! and we saw a cat... lol

Most all of the eatiers are good.

Taste Pilots Grill
Riverbelle Terrace
Plaza Inn
Pacific Warf Cafe

I love Taste Pilot's Grill too! We always have to eat there! Delicious ribs!!

We like the Chicken Fusilli at Pizza Port. DD9 and I share it. Also good is the dinner size Oriental Chicken Salad.

We also like the chicken at Stage Door Cafe. DD and I share this as well.

Don't like the hamburgers at Tomorrowland Terrace. Haven't found one we like since the closed Burger Invasion (McD's)

At DCA we like the chicken at Farmers Ranch Market.

We love Rancho del Zacalo. The food is different than traditional park food. And we have fun watching Big Thunder Mountain Railroad go by while we sit under the gorgeous bouganvillas.
We actual got take out from there to eat while we were at the Golden Horseshoe to watch Billy Hill.

Not a place to eat but for a free snack, my kids love to go to the Mission Tortilla factory to get the free hot tortilla. If it's your birthday, they give you a whole bag. My kids think it's a lot of fun to see them being made.

Do they still serve breakfast at the Riverbelle Terrace? I know that they remodeled the place and we never went there during our last visit.

Thanks.:goodvibes

Have you researched the menu database? It's an excellent resource.

The 2 places we avoid everytime are: Hungry Bear (although the setting is great) and Village Haus. The burgers and chicken at Hungry Bear are dry and nasty. The Village Haus has burgers & pizza- both equally disgusting.

Other than those 2 places- we like most of the casual dining (including corn dog, chimi and turkey leg carts) at DL.

Our favorites have already been mentioned, but I thought that I would post yet another vote for Pacific Wharf, Whitewater Snacks and the chicken pasta (not the pizza) at Pizza Port. We also love the skewers from Bengal BBQ but tend to get them as snacks and not as a meal.

If you are interested in a meal and a show, Billy Hill and the Hillbillys is a good place to eat. It's good food and they put on a comedy show while you eat. It has "showtimes" though, so you can't just eat and see the show whenever you want you kind of have to plan your meal around the showtime.

I agree. One of our 'must-dos' is the chili in a bread bowl and Billy Hill show at the Golden Horseshoe.

Yes, breakfast is available at RVT, we love the breakfasts there! :)

People always say they hate these 2 places. I don't hate them at all, I don't love them but I have no problems eating there. I like Hungry Bear better than Village Haus tho, the atmosphere at HB is neat!! :)

You can go in, order and sit anytime, but they only have shows at certain times during the day. We love this show, it's one of our absolute favorites!! We usually get 1 order of chicken and fries and 1 order of cheese sticks and fries and share, then we get 2 ice cream sundaes and the girls get one and DBF and I get one too. :)

I also love the pasta at Pizza Port, very tasty chicken fusili pasta. :) And big portions! Taste Pilots Grill is goooood!!!! Love the chicken sandwich, I smother mine in BBQ sauce, add onions and pickles from the condiment bar and life is good. LOL Rancho Del Zocalo is GREAT! We eat there at least once per trip (depending on how many days we are there), the portions are huge, the area is great and the food is yum! We also love corn dog castle in DCA, HUGE dogs (my DD9 and I share) and they are delicioius, our new favorite is Award Weiners in DCA.....we went there our last day, I had a hot link with onions and BBQ sauce......dear GOD, it was soooooooo good!!! and I am not a huge hot dog fan so that says something. :) Those are our favorite CS places to eat. :)

I avoid Tomorrowland Terrace and Village Haus.

Must dos include Pacific Warf ( soup in the breadbowl as well as sandwiches) and River belle Terrace.

My other advice is always eat outside, when it is an option.

We ate at the Hungry Bear in the evening on Jan. 2 while waiting for our FP time. It was great for a place to get away from all the crowds. Hardly anyone was there. The cheeseburger was just ok, nothing remarkable, but worth it to find a spot to sit without being jostled. The funnel cake looked good but no one would split it with me so I don't know. Otherwise, their menu could use some help. I was hoping to get pretzel there, but they didn't have any.
:confused3
