Which resort does everyone prefer during Christmas? I'm considering PO Riverside & AKL(standard view). Would love WL but I'm not really considering it due to construction. Any others we should consider? Thanks :)

We always stay at BW, which I don't think is too bad. You are really close to Epcot and HS for all of those festivities. We stayed at the GF last year, which you can't beat the huge tree and the gingerbread house. The Yacht and Beach Club are pretty well decorated.

The Wilderness Lodge. At least I hope it is - I'll be there this holiday season.

My two favorites during the holidays are WL and GF (have never been to POR), but AKL runs a close second as it is also gorgeous at Christmas time :santa:.

I would love to stay at GF!! I need to see if they have any fall savings rooms left! Would y'all still recommend staying at WL even with the construction going on?

We loved GF in December. So pretty and festive and bustling with excitement and music. We are trying CR this year. Not known for its Christmas grandeur, but still excited to see what it's like.

The historical booking patterns of the deluxe resorts during the Christmas Season has usually shown the PR and WL being the most popular during time periods with no construction at the resorts

We have stayed at both AKL & WL at Christmas time. I would give a slight edge to WL but those 2 are our most favorite:)

The Grand Floridian. The giant gingerbread house, the giant tree, the band playing Christmas carols, the decorations inside and out- even the outer buildings have their own trees, decor, and Christmas music, seeing Cinderella castle lit up across the lake. Hands down- the Grand Floridian.

It's really indescribable. Best Christmas resort ever. Greatest stay we've had at Disney after ten trips.

When will resorts start putting up Christmas decor? We will be there November 15th.

they start in early nov but it's not complete till the week of thanksgiving. you'll be a little too early to see a lot of the decorations at the resorts...

Me personally? No. We found out the hard way that we are not that family who does well when there is a disruption, even if we cannot see it, we feel it. It is kind of hard to get annoyed at teh BC< but somehow we managed it! LOL! So no more stays if there is any kind of refurb going one. It is not fair to us, and not fair to the poor resort that we end up resenting.

The GF is gorgeous any time of year, but Christmas is extra special. If you stay there, make sure you plan extra resort time just to relax in the Grand Lobby and enjoy the music every afternoon, as well as the entire HOliday atmosphere throughout that pretty resort.

We stayed at the BC just after Thanksgiving, and it is lovely as well. One of the things we found was that while we loved resort hopping during the previous holiday seasons, and always enjoyed the Holiday displays in all of the Epcot resorts, there is something a little disconcerting to this CT gal with the beachy theme and the WInter Holiday theme while we stayed there. (Yes, I am a pill!!!!!!!)

So if I was to choose a resort stay during the Holiday, I would choose WL, GF or AKL. I will add that POFQ was my favorite (go figure?). I loved the Holiday decorations, there, and to be honest, as much as I enjoy traditional holiday music, by the time we would return to the resort, it was an absolute treat to enjoy the jazzy, bluesy holiday misic that played softly throughout this resort. If cost is a consideration, and for my family it always plauys a central part in our decisions, consider this lovely little moderate.

I do think you will miss a lot of the decorations because your stay is a tad early for the entire experience.

Thank you so much!! Your post is very helpful!! Right now we are booked at POFQ. We may switch to AKL but I'm not sure since we will also be visiting in Oct. and plan to return in the Spring!! I'm thinking BC for our spring visit.

Well, given that you will be returning in twice in the next year, I would probably choose between AKL and POFQ. These are two of my favorite resorts on property.

AKL is gorgeous. It is a World away from all of the chaos that is a WDW vacation, and offers a respite that we welcomed. It is dark, cool and exotic. When you plan AKL, make sure you have time booked to enjoy the resort. IT would be a shame to stay there and not experience all it offers.

POFQ is a compact and sweet resort, and is a Holiday favorite for my family. I is lovely!

BC is my least favorite resort, but for all of the reasons most people love it. It is sprawling and huge, and also sprots the most popular pool on propety. WE are a family that enjoys a more compact environment, so this lovely esort ws not fun for us. We also found out there that we feel the disruptions that any refurb have on staff, and we did nto liek it. Others may not have been impacted, but we were, so now we know that any construction means we book elsewhere. The people were wonderful, so it was not them. Spring would be the best time there IMO, you want the best weather for that pool!

We are looking to stay at a Disney resort for Christmas eve and possibly Christmas day night. Do any of the resorts do anything special/ different on these days?

Thank you

Andrea

For Christmas, I would prefer (in this order):
1) Wilderness Lodge
2) Grand Floridian
3) Animal Kingdom Lodge

WL is by far my favorite resort at Christmas and I'd stay there even with construction. You really can't go wrong with any of the deluxes at Christmas but after WL my choices would be AKL and then The Boardwalk.

We stayed at POFQ last year in december, it wasn't very holiday decorated to us. We loved how wilderness lodge was decorated and plan to stay there the next winter holiday trip.
