We actually just booked a room at barefoot suites. Really nice place two of my stepkids decided they dont want to go (dont ask me why any child would turn down a trip to disney) so the two bedroom suite worked for us esp for $792 for 8 nights. Already called the place to make sure they other ones could come if they changed their minds and they are allowed as long as using the beds there.

Keep in mind you can always bid on Priceline or Hotwire. We got hotel stays on our way to/from WDW last year for $50 for pretty nice hotels. I think one was a Holiday Inn Express and the other...well I forget now. If you check out http://betterbidding.com their forums show you what other people have gotten in the area. I think you could definitely find a nice place for $50-70 a night. Don't forget resort fees though! Those can run you possibly another $10-15 a night.

I used Hotwire and got a rate of $30 a night, selected celebration area hotels. It was clean, had a fridge and microwave. It was in December, but not during Christmas.

Look on hotels.com. We are staying offsite the night before our check-in and the night before we fly home. We found a 3 bedroom condo very near Disney for $79 a night and we are a party of 7.

Careful of the cheapy hotels. We stayed in one at Main Gate at Spring Break for one night before we transfered to our Disney hotel. It had gotten decent hotels and at about $56 a night, we thought not bad.

Well, I overlooked the plethora of bald spots through out the hallway. The closet size bathroom with shower only, and I do mean closet. I could not shut the sliding pocket door to use the toilet. Problem when I have small boys.

But I could not NOT overlook the bugs. We got in close to midnight and after driving all night we just dropped into bed. About 5 minutes later, I quitely told my DH that I felt something crawling over me. He said it was my imagination, but after a few more minutes I felt biting!

Sure enough, bugs all over. We call and very calmly, like it was no big deal, she said oh those are sugar ants you must have something sweet. Uh no, no we don't. Oh well, they wont bother you!!!! I could not sleep all night!!

I have tried look into Straybridge Suites in Orlando. I know they sleep at people. I look at once when was sharing a room with one my kids friends on a trip.

I would look into the Residence Inn by Marriott because know they at least sleep six.

We going for Christmas week for a Family reunion/ WDW trip we is staying athe Residence Inn think it is one in Orlando or Lake Burn Vista.We is getting the group rate because we is booking a whole floor.

Check out resortcerts.com. They sell rent weeks at a time at RCI properties for 599.00 a week, but sometimes you can get them for 249.00. We just did this, and will be staying at Wyndham Cypress Palms in a 2 bedroom/2 bath (sleeps 8) with full kitchen and laundry for 249.00 for the week. Both the site and the hotel have great reviews. Only about 10 minutes from Disney. I am an onsite snob, but very excited about this trip.

I stayed at Wyndham Cypress Palms last month in a renovated 2 bed. unit and was very impressed. Staff was top-notch as well.

The Clarion isn't where it used to be - they rebranded a few months ago, and the "Clarion" is now over on Palm Parkway, and the old Clarion (just off Sherbeth Rd) is now the Comfort Inn Maingate.

We've stayed in both, and if you can get a decent rate (which they sometimes offer for just a day or two - jump quick ), they're both quite nice, although very different.

We will be staying at the Baymont Inn in Celebration in December for $40 a night. We have stayed there before and it is pretty nice. The rooms all have a fridge and flat screen TVs. I believe they also have rooms with "kids suites" that have bunk beds.

We got that rate straight from their website, no Priceline or Hotwire to mess with.

We've done well at that time of year several times getting a condo through bookit. Usually in the 90-100 a night range, but there was enough room for everyone and having one meal a day in the kitchen/dining room probably paid for the condo itself in savings.

I have no idea what the rates are for December,
but we are staying at the Orlando Courtyard Suites (near All Star Movies)
for $59 a night in October.

They have king suites and 2 queen suites.
Suites include full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room with sleep sofa, bathroom with jetted tub and shower.

They do get mixed reviews because the suites are gorgeous but outside their property is adjacent to a hotel undergoing renovation. (kinda like how POP resort guests used to say that the unfinished (now the Art of Animation) resort across the lake looked creepy.

We are not planning on spending much time at our hotel outside,
so we are really looking forward to having a really nice suite,
with a full kitchen for breakfasts, a really nice bathroom, space (some hotel rooms can be claustrophobic), and our days in the parks!
And the price was certainly right!

i use choice hotels i have stayed at the roadway in kissimmee 5995 W. Irlo Bronson Hwy for a night christmas week i believe i paid abot $37 is just two miles from Walt Disney World most hotels in kissimmee do not have a heated pool roadway does have a heated pool its across the street from celebration http://www.choicehotels.com/

OP- my daughter and I just spent 3 nights last week at Barefoot In The Keys. We stayed in a 1bed/1 bath. For the price it couldn't be beat. I paid $69 a night. The condo had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, seperate bedroom (queen) with a flat screen TV, pull out sofa bed in living room w/another flat screen. It was super clean, gated and we felt very safe. Staff was very friendly. Pool area was basic but clean and even had a cute playground area. I have not one complaint about the property. I think you made a good choice. We would stay here again if on a tight budget.

Choice hotels has a 'best rate guarantee' so if you see the room cheaper at a different site, you book it at the Choice website and send in a claim form. If the cheaper rate is still there when they check it, you get the room free for one night. If your stay is only one night, then that night is entirely free.
