Any advice on which character meals would be best for our family? When we travel, my boys will be 11, 9, and 6. So far I've ruled out CRT, lol. :scared1: I'll have to wait for grandchildren for that one. :sad2:

We had a lot of fun at 1900 Park Fair in 2007. The step sisters and stepmother are there and add a little humor. Maybe they might be a little young but my son had a blast there (he's an adult) but most of the character meals are so geared mostly for girls. It's sad.

They may like Chef Mickeys and Garden Grille.

I also think that T-Rex is a cool place for boys. It's not a character meal but I think they would really enjoy it there.

I think it's time to make a Pirate character themed resturant. That would be awesome wouldn't it!

Donald's Safari Breakfast in AK
Chef Mickey's at Contemporary Resort
O'hana Breakfast with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey at Poly

On our 13-year-old's birthday trip in January, we did the Ohana Best Friends Breakfast and Donald's Safari Breakfast, as well as dinners at Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, and 1900 Park Fare. All of them were a hit :thumbsup2 (and we didn't have any younger children travelling in our party).

Favourite overall was Ohana. Amazing character interaction, excellent service, and a truly great atmosphere.

Favourite dinner was Crystal Palace. The Pooh characters are classic, and interacted very well with the crowd. This restaurant is suitable for every age from newborn to 99, and the buffet offerings were yummy .

Chef Mickeys, IMO, appeals to EVERY age as well, so that's always a good choice too.

1900 Park Fare was a good choice for the antics alone....those stepsisters can be just hilarious! And despite the fact that Cinderella's there, we didn't feel awkward dining without a little princess of our own. In fact, Drizella, Anatastia and Lady Tremaine went out of their way to interact with our DS (even trying to "set him up" with one of the very eligible batchelorette stepsisters :lmao:).

At that age DS liked Donalds and Cheif Mickey. He really liked Rainforest Cafe better than either however. T-rex would also be great. Whispering Canyon Cafe was also another favorite about that age, as well as Prime time cafe.

He was not happy at CRT or at Park Fare and did really not care for Crystal Palace either.

For a character meal, I'd recommend the Garden Grill. It's not over-the-top and has good interaction with the characters(Chip/Dale, Mickey, Pluto). It's an all-you-care-to-eat, family-style meal. The kids might enjoy looking out the windows of this rotating restaurant to enjoy scenes from the Living with the Land attraction while you eat.

For non-character meals, I think 50's Prime Time and Whispering Canyon are can't miss for your kids age.

DS was 12 last year & his favorites were breakfast at Park Fare with the Mad Hatter, breakfast at 'Ohana with Stitch and the Donald Safari breakfast. He requested that we return to 'Ohana & Donalds this trip!

I would do the Tusker house, tons of variety and wonderful food. I almost had to roll Dh out of there! The standard Donald, Goofy, Pluto type characters and excellant food.

Also maybe Stitch at Ohana? The food wasnt as good as Tusker but Stitch is priceless!

Chef Mickey's, Ohana, and Garden Grill are all fun with good basic character interaction, not at all what I would consider girly.:goodvibes

Disney really needs some boy character meals! Buzz, Mosters Inc. or one with Donald with Huey, Dewey and Loui and Goofy with Max!

Anyways Id go with Stitch and Lilo at the Poly. Id go back for dinner too! No characters at dinner tho.

Our boys are almost 10 and 7--they love the Ohana breakfast with Mickey and Stitch and the Cape May breakfast with Chip/Dale and Minnie and Goofy. The only drawback of the last time we did Ohana was that it took forever (like an hour) to see all the characters. The food is good at both. When they were younger, they loved the Pooh character breakfast at Crystal Palace, but that might be a harder sell now.

Disney would make a fortune off a pirate character breakfast. Seriously.

Thank you so much for all of the ideas...that will help a lot with our planning!

I do agree about the pirate one, too. Both of our older boys are really into Pirates right now....puzzles, movies, school folders....you name it! pirate:

My ds11 (but 9 at the time) loved breakfast with Stitch at O'Hana. The character interaction was the best we had, and we also ate at Chef Mickey's and LTT. I personally thought the food was the best, and it's served family style, so no getting up when characters are going around, you don't have to worry about missing one while you refill your waffles!

Slightly off topic (forgive me), but if your boys are into pirates, check out the Jack Sparrow show near the Pirates of the Caribbean in MK. It's set up like a "pirate academy". Our youngest got picked from the crowd to participate (he had a mock swordfight with Jack) and absolutely loved it. (Jack also flirted with my wife, referring to her as "the governor's daughter"). This was 18 mos ago so not sure if they still have this. But after seeing how our boys loved it we were wishing for a pirate character breakfast.
