We will be spending my son's fourth birthday in WDW in May/08. We want to plan a character meal for that day and wanted suggestions on which one would be the most memorable for him. I know everyone will have different views on this but wanted to get some opinions. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Who are your son's favorite characters? I suspect the best character meal would be the one that features his favorite characters. My youngest son is a huge Lilo and Stitch fan, so the character breakfast at 'Ohana is a must-do.

If he has no favorites, then the classics are probably best: anything with Mickey, or Crystal Palace if he likes the Pooh characters.

I think 1900 pf Cinderella’s gallfeast is good for birthdays. If you tell someone ahead of time they get a crown, cupcake, placemat, and everyone sings happy birthday. The characters are Cinderella, Prince Charming, Suzy and Perla, and the Fairy Godmother. Because it’s yours son’s b-day he might not like the princess theme so CM will probably be fun.

Crystal Palace or Cape May Cafe

Cape May is where my son likes to go. This was his first ever character meal when he was 4.

i'd say chef mickey's.. it'll get you a placemat signed by the characters too

We like the Lilo and Stitch breakfast. Mickey is there as well. They have the kids line up and do a parade which is cute. Overall, the food was edible, and included some fresh fruit which was a nice touch. It is pre-plated, which is nicer than a buffet. We think it's much less frantic and frenetic than Chef Mickey's.

Our boys have also enjoyed the Farmer Mickey character dinner at the Land Pavilion in Epcot. Again, good character interaction and much more sane than Chef Mickey's.

We've also done lunch at the Castle several times. Always a crowd pleaser, though pricey. Our boys can take or leave the princesses, but love eating in the castle. They also get swords now at lunch, and they like that.

hmmm... well I know it's not on here at this point but we loved, loved Hollywood and Vine for the interaction with the Playhouse Disney characters. I loved how they bring all the kids up to sing and dance and they do a birthday parade there as well. I think they give a placemat and stickers to the birthday kid. We went for a late breakfast/early lunch. The food was ok but went more for the charcters for this one.

Chef Mickey's is quite interactive with the dancing with the characters and all the fun. It gets a little crazy but it's fun.

Chef Mickey's is definately a party atmosphere. My girls love it! When the characters first come out they play this song and everyone holds their napkins up and swing them. It's great we love it!

I agree, if he has some favorite characters that are at a meal go there. The only one we have done is the Ohana breakfast, and we loved it.

It doesn't matter if he's turning 4 or 74, everybody has a grand ol' time at Chef Mickey's! We've been there 6 times since 2000 and it never fails to amaze us! It's the only character meal (and the only meet n greet in all of WDW, if I'm correct) that you'll find all of the Fab Five in the same place for a greeting. The official WDW guidebook describes Chef Mickey's as "a celebration" and "best all-around character meal". Also every 45 minutes there's a big celebration where everybody dances and waves their napkin in the air.

Keep in mind, though, wherever you choose, your child will get a little something special from the characters. We had a member of our party last time have a birthday, and at each of the 3 character meals we attended (Chef Mickey's, OHana, CRT), they got a special desert and signed certificate by the characters. Good luck choosing and have a happy birthday!

When my DS was 4 his favorite was Cape May Breakfast, 2nd choice Chef Mickey's Dinner. He got a Cupcake & card at both places.

Thanks for all the responses/opinions. Sometimes I wish there weren't as many options, then the decision would be easier! My first thought was Chef Mickey's. We are also planning to do a princess character meal for my 6 year old daughter and then the Ohana Breakfast so hopefully between the 3 of them, we will have covered all our bases.
