My kids are 7, 13, and 14. I wanted to do one or two character dinners for my 7 year old. We don't generally do meet & greets in the parks, unless we happen upon a good one that has a short line.

I've currently got a dinner at Chef Mickey scheduled and a breakfast at Tusker House. We've done both before (when my older kids were little, the 7 yr old hasn't been). I'm generally not a fan of buffets, so the lackluster food at these was expected (I do remember Tusker House being better than Chef Mickey). But, a couple of threads about how awful Chef Mickey is got me wondering if there was a better core character, non-princess based meal option?

I should specify, I'm looking at dinner, specifically.

Garden Grill or Tusker House for dinner, for sure. Garden Grill is great fun, always great character interaction and above-average food. Tusker House is spectacular food for buffet quality. Beyond that, I've heard good things about Cape May Cafe at Beach Club too..

May I suggest the Hoop-De-Do Review. Show is very good, Food is good, Décor and atmosphere are great. No Disney characters however.

I just asked DS9 and his vote was for Tusker House, which I see you already have (good choice!). Honestly, IMHO, other than Tusker House, the dinners featuring any of the fab five are pretty lackluster in terms of food quality. Your choices are Chef Mickey's, H&V and Garden Grill. In terms of value, Garden Grill is probably the best (I didn't almost faint when I got the bill for that one), but unless you really need to see the fab five twice, I would consider just doing Tusker House and doing another fun non-character meal. My DS9 LOVES Whispering Canyon. He laughed hysterically at all the hijinks, loved the ketchup bit, etc. I would second PP's suggestion for Hoop Dee Doo as well. DS9 loved that so much we are doing it again in December. Sci-Fi is also super cool!

Thanks! I do have a reservation for WC after reading about it on the forums. I'll look at Hoop De Doo too.

I couldn't remember if Mickey was at Turner House!
