Hi all I have a 2 year old and we are going to WDW in Feb

What are the best Character Breakfasts and Dinners.

I tried for the Castle but is is all booked :guilty:

Thank you

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary and The Crystal Palace in MK have always been our favorite character breakfasts. I have never been to one for dinner, but my parents enjoyed Chef Mickey's for dinner as well. We're trying that on our trip in March, I made PS for our first night in WDW!

Your best restaurant choice will depend on which characters your 2 yo loves. At two, mine loved Pooh! Pooh and his friends were a good first character meal for our kids.

We are an older family now (youngest that goes is 17 now), but we still always eat at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. Characters are usually Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. Turkey, steak, ham??, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, veggies, plus salad and drink. We go back because of the food...it feels home-cooked and you can get as much as you want.

Crystal Palace is my favorite. On our next trip, we are going to do all different restaurants from our last trip, but Crystal Palace breakfast with Pooh and Sci-Fi dine in are the two that we loved so much that we're going them again.

When my sister and brother-in-law (Steamboat Girlie and PlaneCrazy4Diz) took my nephew for the first time, he just loved the Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace, he was just over a year old at the time.

Our choices are LTT and Crystal Palace.
Both great places :teleport:

Chef Mickeys is cute - but VERY LOUD.

read the menu's - see what your family likes to eat :)

We like Chef Mickey's best.

But what is important is who is your chid's favorite characters.

another vote for Chef Mickey's (do it your 1st night if you can!) and Crystal Palace! :D

The problem with Chef Mickey's is that once a 2 year old rides the monorail (especially up front), not many other rides can compare. :flower1:

Have FUN!!!

You might just wait until you arrive at WDW to make a decision. Our 18mo DD didn't care for the "furry" characters--she was OK with the princess and other "face" characters, but won't go to Minnie, Pooh or any of the others. Fortunately our son loved all of them, but if neither wanted to be near the characters, it would have been a big waste of money.

As far as the meals themselves go, we've done the Crystal Palace (Pooh characters) a couple times and will probably never go back again. Too crowded. Too loud. Food selection wasn't the greatest. Service was poor.

Our fave thus far is the breakfast buffet at Cape May Cafe. This one features Minnie, Goofy and Chip & Dale. Goofy stopped by our table before we could even get to the buffet, and the other characters weren't far behind. And, it was relatively quiet in the restaurant even with full tables and a line 10 deep outside waiting to be seated.

Just my 2 cents here. I have been to few different character meals, Breakfast and Dinner. I have yet to experiance a bad one. I think what you need to decide is what characters your kids might enjoy seeing the most. Then look on the these boards to see where and when a meal with those characters can be seen. The ones mentioned here so far I have been to and my kids loved them, okay me too :earboy2: . But don't forget the Character meals at the resorts. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the GF is great, Mary Poppins even greets you at the door. The breakfast at Cape May at the BC may even be my favorite. All the characters come out wearing there swimsuits. I've been to this one a couple of times now and it seemed to me that it maybe the least crowded. Not sure, could have been just timing, but the characters came to our table twice. Don't forget to bring you camera and a pen for you autograph books!

Now personally my favorite is at 1900 Park Fare with Mary Poppins. Some of the Pooh characters appear here as well (we call it the British Invasion Breakfast, because it is Mary Poppins, and usually Alice In Wonderland, Pooh, and possible Tigger or Eeyore, and possibly Bert or the White Rabbit or the Mad Hatter). Great character interaction, wonderful service, and fantastic buffet (best breakfast buffet on WDW property!)

If you think that your 2 year old would rather spend his/her time with Pooh and friends then go to the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom. Usually here you will see Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet. This is also a buffet, and they service breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We still LOVE Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. Crystal Palace is ALWAYS a must!! But so is Chef Mickeys!!! I agree, your chose should depend on which characters your baby likes!!! We LOVE them all, so we do LOTS of character meals!!

We plan on doing Chef Mickey's (CR, Chef Mickey, Minnie, Chip Dale, Goofy, Pluto and sometimes Donald), Crystal Palace (MK, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet), 1900 Park Fare (GF, Mary Poppins, Bert, Eeyore, Alice, Mad Hatter), Liberty Tree Taverne (MK, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Meeko), Donald's Breakfastasaurus (AK, Donald, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto). :cool1: These are the characters we have experienced at these restaurants.

1900 Park Fare has been far and away the best character breakfast we have done. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, and the character interaction is excellent. The characters all came around multiple times and spent lots of time at each table.

We've done many character meals too and our favorite is Crystal Palace for lunch/dinner- never tried breakfast. Both of my children were a little weary of the characters- non face especially- at 2 years old. Character meals are the only thing that got DD to even touch them at 2- and it took about 2 meals before she did. But once she did, she was in heaven! DS was a little afraid, but got over it pretty quickly at the first meal. I say for a 2 year old, either Crystal Palace or Chef Mickeys- both are great and a 2 year old will love these characters- however, I'm 29 and still love them!!! princess:

Our favorite is the Garden Grill. My kids loved the scenery and the fact that we were going around and around. The characters are Mickey, Pluto and Chip-n-Dale. We have done dinner there. The characters came by so many times the kids were tired of them by the end of the meal :)

If you're not sure if you DD will ready for Characters you can do the Ice Cream social to test the waters before you spend the $$.

Crystal Palace.... great food, beautiful atmosphere and the best character interaction around. We have been there many, many, many times and have never been disappointed.

We love them all, and usually do one per day.

Crystal Palace, Ohanas, Chef Mickey's and Park Fare were all big hits at age 2 with my DS.

:Pinkbounc we think the crystal palace is great :Pinkbounc you get to see winnie the pooh and all his friends :D and the food is great :grouphug:

Chef Mickey's is always a blast. It is always a party!

We also had a breakfast at Hollywood and Vine and Minnie showed up in a very glamorous outfit and the kids did a dance with feather boas and I remember the icecream has lots of sprinkles! (very important for my daughter)

The Crystal Palace is a great place if you are a big Pooh fan. I missed the party feel of Chef Mickey's where you swing your napkins in the air. Not my first choice.

1800 park fair is great for the mary poppins fans. The food is a step up from your average cafeteria style breakfast. My two year old loved pluto trying to lap up her dinner with his big tongue.

My personal rating is:
1.Chef Mickeys
2. Hollywood and Vine (MGM)
3. 1800 Park Fair
4. Crystal Palace

And if you are looking for a good value, the breakfast in the Fort Wilderness Campground is always a good start to the day. There is a Cast Member there that really made our breakfast fun.

Hope that helps!

We have fun at all character breakfast/dinners, but our favorites continue to be:
Chef Mickey's
Liberty Tree for dinner
Donald's Breakfastosaurus
