Best Character Breakfasts

Our first trip to WDW, we had a character breakfast at O'hanas and it was FANTASTIC. The food was wonderful. Chip n Dale, Mickey and Pluto were there and my sons (then 1 and 3) enjoyed it very much. I had one that was a big character fan (1 year old) and the other that wasn't (3 year old) and the beauty of that place is that it isn't quite as noisy as say the Crystal Palace. The food was wonderful and Chip n Dale gave each child a moracco and then we all got up and did a parade around the restaurant. It was great!

One factor you need to also consider when making a restaurant decision is if you want it to be a family style meal or if you want a buffet. I personally don't care for buffets and I feel like (with small children) that I spend more time back and forth and up and down than actually enjoying the meal. We had a fantastic time at Crystal Palace, but I don't care as much for the buffet style. Also have eaten at 1900 Park Faire for dinner (yummy food!!!) but again its a buffet. The Princess Breakfast in Norway is family style and pretty noisy and crowded.

They are all fantastic food and great character interaction. We are going to the CP this time because we have a 2 year old on her first trip to Disney that just had a Pooh party and I would not miss her getting to see Pooh and the gang for the world.

our new favorite is the Garden Grill the interaction just feels more private with those big booths that no one can see through.....Plus Chef Mickeys is also very good.....Did not care for Donalds breakfastousaurus....and Crystal Palace was ok....It just takes for ever to see characters there....

On a side note Garden Grill has the best catfish I have ever eaten....

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I have yet to read a SINGLE positive (much less glowing) review of Donald's Breakfastosaurus. I started looking into options for an upcoming trip, and just keep seeing the same complaints...loud, poor service, poor seating, cold food, etc.

Too bad.

The food was good....but it was packed in the resturant and the tables seemed like they were on top of each other....Those meals are suppose to make you feel like you got one on one time with the characters but at Donalds it seemed the opposite....Plus I just felt rushed to eat and get out.....the food was good and the characters came by a couple times but I just didnt feel the same as I do at Chef Mickeys or Garden Grill or Crystal Palace....This year we are gonna try LTT as we have yet to do that one....

I'd try the Princess one at Epcot, where there are no masks as these can be scary to some young children. Also, I'd recommend a character experience where they bring the food to you rather than a buffet. My little guys FREAKED out when one of us went to collect the food and my husband, who was usually charged with getting the food, felt like he had no time to relax and eat his meal (we had more than one kid, though). Sure, the selection isn't as expansive, but it is so worth it to have someone bring you the food.

The Garden Grill brings the food to you all you can eat.....Family style.....It is wonderful service and great interaction....plus you get to see some of the land ride....I would check the rehab schedule as this might close for a while due to soarin construction...

I LOVE Breakfastosaurus! I've been there now five times and not ever felt rushed. The characters always spend a bunch of time with us and the service (particularly this past Marathon weekend in January) was really good. I also love the theming in the restaurant itself. I also like being able to walk out and get right onto one of the first Safari rides after the park opens. I go to Crystal Palace, too, but I really prefer Breakfastosaurus.

Oh - forgot to mention the Baskervilles Breakfast we had at Grosvenor. It was Goofy (in his Sherlock Holmes outfit) and Pluto. A pretty nice buffet and you had your choice of cold ($6.95) or hot ($9.95) both of which were fully stocked. Because it is not a traditional hotel (but is on site), it was WAY less crowded and we had fantastic interaction with the characters. Just an option if you have tried all the others are are looking for something different or if you head down on a budget.

Its only offered certain days during the week, but no ressies were required.

What dates are you going? I just cancelled two reservations for 5 at the Epcot Princess Storybook Breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and Wednesday, Feb. 9th. Both reservations were about 11:30am.

My daughter was very much into the Princesses by the time she was 2 1/2.

Otherwise, the Crystal Palace is great - every 2 year-old loves Pooh, and you can't beat a buffet for the picky eaters. I also just cancelled two reservations for 5 at the Crystal Palace, both on Wed. Feb. 9th. One is for the latest breakfast at 10:30, and the other for the earliest lunch at 11:30.

Donald's Breakfestsaurus wasn't bad at all. Though, I enjoyed The Crystal Palace a lot.

In my opinion Crystal Palace is the best character breakfast. The food is good and you get into MK early.

The Ice Cream Social is at the Garden Grill in Epcot at 3:00pm and 3:30 pm. The cost is $6.75 plus tax and gratuity per person(both adults and kids).

The characters are Mickey, Pluto and Chip-n-Dale.

Agree w/ the others that all are good and you should choose based on your child's love of chars. That being said, here are our experiences in case it helps:

Our 1st trip w/ a child we booked Chef Mickey's on the night we arrived in Disney. Thought this would be a good intro'n to chars and give ds (age 2.5) a taste of Disney w/out wasting a pass on just a few hrs in the parks. It was GREAT! Loud...but so much fun. We all enjoyed ourselves, and the food was pretty good too. Plenty to choose from, and being a buffet, no waiting! Which as we all know w/ young children is key. We took the bus from ASMo to MK and walked to the Contemporary. After dinner we rode the Monorail around to let ds see some of the sights. great start to the trip.

When making my PS I had wanted to book CP for b'fast but it was full for the day we were planning to do MK, so we opted for an early lunch. It was the BEST! We enjoyed Fantasyland in the morning when crowds were light and by 11:30 were ready to sit down and rest. After a GREAT meal (the salmon was superb) & good char interaction, we did a couple of rides and returned to our hotel for naps.

On our next trip we had 2 children. Did things differently as dd (age 1) had already seen chars at a local Disney store and was quite at ease w/ them. We booked our std CP lunch (on ds's 4th bday!!!)....but saved Chef Mickey's for our final night for dinner. It was a nice way to end the trip. After dinner we went back to the park to enjoy Wishes.

Now, I'm planning for our next trip in April (kids will be 2.5 and 5.5) We'll doing CP for lunch the day we are in MK...but have decided to try O'hana for bfast on our "rest" day (day we sleep in, do DD and swim...sometimes it doesn't seem too restful but it is a day out of the parks and does rejuvinate) Am also plamnning on 1900 Park Fare for our final evening instead of Chef Mickey's. Heard good things about it and wanted to try something new.
