Best Character Breakfast?

I would love to load and share pictures, but alas when ever I try it just doesn't work.

Do you use Photobucket? I find that Photobucket is the easiest way to post pictures. If you don't have a Photobucket account, open one (it is free), load your pictures to it (pretty self-explanatory), choose what size you want them to be, and when they are loaded you will see a series of 4 codes either underneath or to the side of each photo. Each picture has its own codes. Click on and highlight the entire IMG code - which is the 4th one down, or th very last code listed - don't leave out any part of it, and copy it (Ctrl C), then paste it (Ctrl V) right in the post! Voila! Picture appears! Try it and see what happens - it is super easy!

My favorite character meal in either DL (have done them all) and WDW (have done all but one) is Goofy's. We've gone 10+ times and never had anything but a wonderful meal. I am partial to an early dinner at Goofy's but love their breakfast too. The selection of food is great and being able to monorail down to the DLH is very convenient. We've always had a great number of characters visit our table. Always at least one princess, Goofy, Chip and or DAle, Minnie, Pluto (he's out front) and then at least two other characters that have included: Peter Pan, Wendy, Alice, Mad Hatter, Genie, Baloo, Aladdin, Captain Hook and once we had Fairy Godmother (long ago on that one before she was at other meals). So for us, we've never felt jipped on characters and they've always come around. Whenever I go to DL with family members, this is the one I take them to since we've always had the best food and a good amount of characters.

I also love Lilo and Stitch. Its never very crowded, the food is great (love the pineapple scones) and the games they play are very fun. So that's the breakfast we usually do now, since we always do Goofy's for dinner.

I like Minnie's for the convenience of being in the park and the fact I love the Plaza Inn. But to me to the food is so lackluster. I don't like the long lines (in my opinion this restaurant is not set up to handle a crowded buffet) and the selection is not nearly as good as the two I mentioned above. But the convenience factor is huge and the amount of characters they have is awesome. But for what I pay, I do have to say it want better food. I have been doing Minnnies for years, back when it was Pooh and friends, and then for its brief stint as a princess breakfast and I have always found it hectic and very disorganized. Of the 15 or so different character meals I have done over the years at DL and WDW, it is my least favorite. But again, still fun (so Minnie lovers, don't hate or flame me lol). But last time we spent over two hours there while my nieces and daughter waited patiently for several characters to come around (and this has happened there before, I swear we are jinxed with this place) and we finally gave up. But the manager did give the kids pins which was nice.

I'll also add Storytellers is wonderful food. The characters are also fine, if you like those particular ones. If you have little girls that want princesses or the more main stream Disney characters, don't pick this one. But for older kids and people who want amazing food, Storytellers is awesome.

I haven't ever done breakfast at Ariel's but I've enjoyed many lunches and dinners there so I am betting its a lot of fun too!

And to the poster who asked, the characters do come outside. But in my experience, it takes them awhile. They seem to move in a more orderly fashion inside than outside.

We will be doing goofys in August, my question is can we take some of the snacks ( deserts with us when we go ? ) say a rice crispy bar, a banana ? or do they frown on this?

I have taken bananas at Goofy's - just 2, one on one occasion and one on another occasion. I didn't intend to - I brought them to the table with the intention of eating them there, but I was too full and I didn't want to waste these lovely, perfectly ripe bananas, so I put them in my bag when we left. I don't see why it would be a problem. I mean, it may look a bit questionable if someone walked up and blatantly started putting food items in their purse/Baggallini right there at the open buffet stations, and I wouldn't do that, BUT if it is a matter of taking something from the buffet and bringing it to your table with the intention of eating it and then maybe you get too full or something, I am sure they would rather you take it and eat it than to let it go to waste entirely. Because if you leave that banana or cupcake on your table next to your finished food, they will just throw it out. They aren't going to put it back with the other bananas and cupcakes. But I wouldn't try loading up with a whole bag full of stuff. I am trying to think of any other 'portable' foods that would be easy to take if you didn't finish them - aside from the bananas, there are mini-muffins (delicious!), mini-pastries and cupcakes, I think there is other stuff like apples too, and....what am I forgetting? In any case, some of it would be easy to take with you if you don't finish everything at your table, but I wouldn't go nuts and take a bunch of things.

Thanks Sherry :)
I hate to waste anything, and my kids some times take fruit, or treats with the intent to eat but then are to full at the end. ( eyes are bigger then there tummys  ) So I thought if it was ok I would take it with us for the parks later, fruit, or rice crispy treat, grapes what ever is portable . I think i will bring a zip lock with us when we go.

You're welcome! I imagine that people do it quite frequently, because that happens at buffets - people's eyes do end up being bigger than their stomachs and they take more food than they can handle back to the table. And if you take things like mini-muffins or pieces of fruit or anything else portable to your table and don't eat it, it will only go to waste. Once it makes it to a guest's table, the Goofy's people won't put it back in the buffet - or at least, if they operate as they should in a restaurant, they won't put it back on the buffet. They have to look at that banana as being 'used' even if it hasn't been eaten. I couldn't bear to part with my perfectly good bananas and let them end up in the trash so I took them. I am guessing the CMs probably expect that sort of thing and just look the other way, as long as people don't get really greedy about it. I think it is just when people go up to the buffet table and start shoving things into Ziploc bags right there that it becomes a problem, because they may be trying to feed a whole other person who isn't paid for and who didn't sit at the table!

You know the last time we were at Goofy's, my dd had was too full after she ate her dinner and she couldn't eat any dessert. I asked the waiter if she could just take a cookie for later, he brought me a nice little box. He told me since I had paid over $35 for my dd (she was 11) and she had eaten very little, he hoped I would at least get a tad bit of my money's worth!

Another time at Minnies', my mom wasn't able to eat much at all (like one or two bites) she was sick and it showed, so the waitress told me to please take a danish and some fruit for later. I thought that was very nice and it came in handy a couple of hours later when her medicine had settled and she was hungry.

I agree with Sherry, I can't see taking a huge amount of food, but a piece of fruit or dessert should be fine.

Though not a buffet, I dined solo at Ariel's and there was no way I could finish all the desserts even I hadn't been pretty full from lunch(and I can eat a lot) and they asked me if I wanted a box for my leftover desserts. Within reason, they're not going to worry unless someone is deliberately loading up on food from the buffet for later especially because once it leaves the buffet they have to throw it out.

Here are some pics from our trip in january there are lilo and stich minnie and friends and goofy's which i think was by far the best!

hope they are helpful.

Hee hee!:rotfl2::rotfl2: Mareeld86 - I guess you didn't notice that I posted links to your photos in my very first reply on page 1! Hopefully everyone saw them! If you have actual pictures with characters, however, I am sure we would all love to see those too!

I am sooooo spoiled! I've done GK a bunch of times. LOVE IT!!! it is by far the best! When you go in, you've got to be a willing participant. Don't just sit there, get up and interact. They will keep coming back.
My autistic son lives for that place. He laughs with all his heart when he is there. At his 18th bday last year, he had so much fun that when he went to the restroom, I had a few characters come by to see him and they were sincerely disappointed that he wasn't there.
Then, my DS came back, and Dale came by, my DS held up his napkin like a bullfighter and Dale held up his fingers like horns and scratched his foot on the floor and charged!!. My DS pulled up his napkin, Dale went out the side door, across the patio and out the gate before he stopped, standing there looking around, scratching his head. My DS was in STITCHES!!!! Every day there is the best day!!!

I've done the others too. But none as great as GK!

See my DS (as Indiana Jones) dance with Goofy!

I have to always agree with Sherry E on this common debacle. It's Goofy's all the way... breakfast preferably.

Not to mention the fact that no other restaurant in DLR serves this bad boy...
