We are taking our 2 year old son and plan to do at least one character breakfast (we plan to have days in every park, so can be in any of them or any resort). He loves lots of Disney Characters and he loves to eat. HAHA So out of all the character meals for breakfast, which do you consider the best or would be your favorite for a 2 year old? Topolinos? Tusker House? Chef Mickey? Thanks!

We juggled 2 yr old twins and a 5 yr old and found that buffets were tough, but family style is your friend; my vote is for Garden Grill. The characters come around several times.

It is only lunch and dinner right? We are almost certainly doing Garden Grill for lunch one day, so I am glad it worked out well and gets the vote of confidence! I am just really not sure the best way to do breakfast.

Hollywood and Vine in HS has a Disney Jr. character b/f with Vampirina, Doc McStuffins and Fancy Nancy. (I think all 3 of them....if not, someone will correct me.)

Topolino's has been our favorite with our almost 2 year old. Actually just booked it for his big birthday meal! We had great interaction and the food is, by far, the tastiest.

Chef Mickey's in the family style format was also a hit but we went before characters returned so I don't know how the COVID interaction has been.

(I won't do buffets with a toddler in tow)

If Crystal Palace has its characters back by then, that would be our vote. Pooh & Friends are so sweet with the little kids.
I would love to do this if characters come back except by the time we get there it will be buffet and that may be no fun with a 2 year old. I also am not sure if they have breakfast.

Can I tag on to ask a related question? How does per person or character dining work with a 2-year-old? Do you include them in the headcount when making the reservation? Do you pay for them since they are considered a "guest of Mickey" otherwise in the parks? If you don't pay for them, do they eat off the adults' plates or can you order something for them?

To answer the OP's question, we're hoping to go to Topolinos with our kiddos (11, 8, and 2). This is mostly based on proximity (we're staying at CBR) and the fact that the food looks better than a lot of the other character dining options, though. It sounds like they do have good character interactions, though, if your LO likes Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy! :)

They definitely need to be included in head count but you won't be charged for them. For family style/buffet menus, which most character meals are, they can eat whatever they want.

For Topolino's, we were prepared to have him just eat off our plate since you order an entree but I asked the waiter what they typically do for the under 3 crowd and he said he'd bring him whatever he wanted. So, he had Mickey waffles and I didn't have to share my food :) We were also not limited to one entree and were able to order a fruit plate for the table as well.

Thank you, this is helpful!

You will definitely have them in the reservation total. They will be able to share from your plate.

Topolinos has been our top consideration for breakfast right now because it sounds the best for my wife and me. @catsinawindow when are you going? Would love a report if it is before December.

What @Aimeedyan said is what we understood from talking to multiple people. We would need to count him, but he could eat off one of our plates or some places with give them their own as if they are in the 3-9 range just without charge. I think it really depends on the waiter/waitress at the time.

Just got to experience Topolino’s breakfast for the first time a few weeks ago. It was one of the best meals we have ever had at Disney. The service and food were amazing. I felt that even with the restrictions the character interaction were very good. I was able to get many pictures of my kids with the characters behind them. They would pose and not rush so you could get a social distance picture. The characters are absolutely adorable!!! I think they did their walk through a total of three times while we were there thus giving us lots of opportunity to see all the characters multiple times and take photos. And thanks to the advice on here, we did order our one meal per person but was able to add a side with no issue. For example, I ordered the waffles (which were fabulous), a side of potatoes, and then a fruit plate to share and was only charged one meal. My daughter also ordered the steak option with a side of fruit and they ended up giving her a full fruit plate in addition to her steak as well.

Thank you so much for your report! I think my decision has been made!

It really was a very cute character meal and the hotel and view from the terrace outside is beautiful! The characters come out all together during a little song and walk around. After the song, they then take time stopping near each table. …If you would order anything extra, per other posts on here, I think the key word is “side.” For example, two eggs any style meal and a side of waffles. They should bring you out a small portion of waffles. Now, I didn’t ask before I ordered if I could do this, I just did it. The server (who was absolutely wonderful) never stopped me or told me it would be an additional charge. She actually told me she would bring out a full fruit plate even though I just asked for a side of fruit. I just wouldn’t expect to order two full meals- just small additions to the main meal. Towards the end of the meal, I did worry that I may be charged for the two fruit plates and thought it would have been smart to asked first, but we were only charged for the three meals/people like some of the other posters reported on here.
