Best Chance for Connecting Rooms?

I understand that requesting connecting rooms is just that, a request. However, I was wondering if one has a better chance at some resorts, than others, to get this request fulfilled. I would love to try Port Orleans, but I believe that is one of the smaller mods. Maybe Coronado Springs would be better as it's larger? We've stayed there pre-kids and loved it.

We did stay at AOA last fall in a Lion King suite, and it was great. However, we really, really missed having the option of a table service restaurant right at the resort. It's me, my husband and 2 small boys.

Thanks!

I don't think it really matter as it will solely depend on occupancy rates when you are there. If there is availability and the resort can accommodate you, they will but if the resort is near capacity and they can't, then unfortunately they wont't. POFQ is the smallest mod and CBR is the largest mod I believe. CSR and POR are probably about equal in size. I'd say CSR, CBR, and POR are fairly comparable in size, with POFQ being significantly smaller. But I would say just stay where you want because it likely won't make a difference.

My Dreams Unlimited travel agent told me to avoid the All Star Music and the Contemporary resorts when we want connecting rooms. She said the Contemporary has relatively few to go around. And many of the connecting rooms at the Music were converted to family suites, so that lowers their number down.

If you want connecting rooms there are a couple of things you can do to increase your odds of getting them. First off, arrive early in the day. That will give them more inventory to pull from to give you connecting rooms. Second, make it your only request.

Maybe it's just my luck but we've always gotten connecting rooms. I will make all the reservations, I will have all the reservation numbers, I will ask for the reservations to be linked and "traveling with", and I request connecting rooms.

It does help a lot of you don't have any other requests except connecting rooms. If you want top floor, on a corner, away from the ice machine and with a view of *fill in the blank*, that limits you a lot.

I've never had a problem getting connecting rooms. I have requested them at POR, CBR and POP (all standard rooms) and never had an issue. I also don't make any other room requests.

We have not gotten connecting rooms one time, and we have asked for them a lot. So it does happen, though not very often.

We have asked the past four trips and only got it once. This year when I made our reservations the CM told me to call the front desk of the hotel two weeks before our trip. I don't know if we will have any better luck this way bc our trip isn't until August.

Just so you know, you can't call the front desk of the resort. All you can talk to is the call center. It is beyond frustrating how ill informed the reservation CMs are. Heck, you don't even get the front desk when you call while you are at the resort!

All you can do is make sure your request is noted on your reservation. And ask at check in if it was met. Good luck!

PO and POFQ have a process that you can fax requests and they do their best to honor them. There is a thread going about this on this forum. We just traveled with two other families to POFQ and the first one checked in two days prior, requested that we be placed near each other and we arrived to find 1) rooms ready when we checked in at 10AM 2) rooms all side by side and 3) garden view when we all paid for standard rooms. Love POFQ :goodvibes

EVERY trip we've stayed onsite, we've had a connecting room. There are only 2 of us in our family, so we have never needed a connecting room. I never understood why we get one (I would prefer to not have a connecting room). Disney must have a TON of connecting rooms since it's all we've ever gotten. :confused3

I requested and received connecting rooms at POR in January. I did want a two queens room connected to a king room, but both rooms were two queens - not a big deal. Glad we were connected and didn't have to look all over the resort for the rest of our family. :P

I agree that we have always gotten our request for a connecting room (4 times). I have also had a couple of other requests on my reservation that were granted but "connecting room" was my 1st request since it was my most important.

Would it be just as easy to book my two rooms online then call to have the reservations linked and my request of connecting rooms or should i just call and do it all on the phone??
:confused3

I've always received connecting rooms when traveling with someone else. And I've never even requested connecting. I only requested that we were nearby. I've had connecting rooms at CSR twice, POR and Pop. Next month we'll be at the YC. I'll see what happens.

Book the hotel that you want, add the request to your reservation. I would make it my only request. As far as faxing, I'm not convinced that all faxes are actually read. There also is a difference between connecting (interior door) and adjoining (side by side), make sure you note on your reservation "connecting."
